Now it looks as if the Kante deal is almost across the line, do we still hold an interest in Andre Gomes? Is it likely he will end up in Madrid? Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Valencia's Andre Gomes was watched last season by representatives of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Milan, Manchester United and by Vicente Fernandez on behalf of Chelsea. However, the asking price was well beyond anything that would make any transfer possible in the summer. This season many clubs, including Chelsea again, PSG and Manchester City have watched the player but it will likely be Manchester United, Chelsea, Napoli, Barcelona and Juventus that fight for his signature in the summer - and I very much doubt Barcelona, Napoli or Juventus will be able to match any financial offer made by the others without a sudden influx of money - but that may be coming. Napoli and Juventus would need the money from a significant sale in order to move for Gomes without it becoming an unnecessary financial burden - but they are both pushing for a deal. Valencia want a Juventus player in exchange and they think that may be the means to make the transfer happen but Juventus will only agree to that if another player stays - but they have been talking - and the player Valencia wants looks to be heading elsewhere. Additionally, Juventus have a preferred target in mind to cover for Pogba leaving so Valencia might have to consider other option. The player is open to a move for English wages and if were not for the toxic fans Manchester United would have signed him in January. I expect Manchester City to step back having agreed their first choice in now - and I expect PSG to do the same. Real Madrid has spoken with Valencia about his availability recently, as have Chelsea yet again - but neither will have the stomach to pay anything like teha sking price. Obviously if Valencia hold out for the sort of figure he has in his release clause then he won't be going anywhere - but they won't. One to drag out all summer - Barcelona may get a significant boost for their income and Manchester United might just stay interested for a while - else he stays where he is for a year and Real Madrid will be completely out of the equation.}

Ed, can you explain why Barcelona may get a significant boost in income?
