If Di Maria becomes available for some reason will chelsea try to sign the player? {Ed002's Note - Probably. He is likely further up the "consideration" list than most other wingers.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Who's above him in the wingers consideration then ED02 ? {Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to listing potential players or putting them in to an order, but Real Madrid were approached about Di Maria in Los Angeles.}

i heard that were thinking of involving sturridge in the modric deal, and i have to say, are we going mad sturridge, lukaku, torres, drogba.. this should be our rotating frontline.

Regarding hazard, you said that there was a chance of him coming. I know you don't like to say whether someone is more likely to come or not, but could you describe out interest? I.e. Is it a watching brief ( could you explain what this is please) or more aggressive interest {Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath is possibly the best answer.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thats the under statement of the year neymar
aguero

Agree0 Disagree0

If De Bruyne signs will it affect any further pursuit of wide options? Despite him probably being loaned back to Genk for the season?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that de bruyne will be a good and useful sighning because we need a good midfielder

Does any one know whats happening with obi mikel's farther, i have great respect for him for playing on saturday {Ed002's Note - You mean like, do we have him here at Transfer Rumours Towers?}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

U work in a tower awesome

Agree0 Disagree0

A man puts football above his own father's well-being and gets your respect - surely the best thing would be to have got on the first plane back to Nigeria to help his family? Ask yourself what would you have done in the same circumstances - kicking a ball around in Stoke wouldn't have been a priority, surely?

ED002: We had too short of a squad to compete last year when injuries came mounting and our old guard were caught on usual Christmas nap. Sadly this latest was too long, to ever get back into the race.

Now with Zhirkov out and expected departures of Anelka and possibly Malouda, or even Yossi - we wont be able to cover these with Belgian kids away on some loan deals.

I would expect us to at least buy one sell one, but for a proper season we need a balanced squad of 24 and not 16 first-teamers and the rest of quota filled with academy kids, who never get a game.

Would you expect us to add to the squad. I mean actual players who will feature next season? {Ed002's Note - The answer is yes, but not at any cost. Cover will come in, but not anyone the club thinks is not first team fodder.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2011 18:24:05
ED002, I realize that you probably get very bored of these kind of questions but I am getting very worried about chelsea's lack of signings and I was wondering whether you believe chelsea will sign anymore players?

Rob {Ed002's Note - I hope and expect a couple of players to come in. Neymar has been a target. The club is doing what it can, but the focus remains improving the side - not keeping the fans happy. I don't want to say wait and see, but equally I know that de Bruyne is injured, others are getting "advice". It somehow ends up easier to say wait and see.}

I have heard from two seperate sources that the problem with the Lakaku deal is a payment his father is due from Anderlecht.
Until this is paid/agreed the kid wont sign.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I find it hard to believe you have any good sources on him when you can't even spell his name :X

Agree0 Disagree0

Really well I havent got time to copy read everything I post as I am busy.
Take it or leave fella that is the situation. {Ed002's Note - I have not checked, but Lukaku's transfer was due to be completed this morning (assuming today is Wednesday - which I think it is).}

DE BRUYNE

THESE WILL BE IT

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Trust me, almost everyone would beover the moon if "IT" will happen. At the pace we are going, it might be that De Bruyne would be "IT".

Hope 1 big figure at chelsea will get this msg...its our solution..

ED, can you list the wingers we hold interest in? Thanks. {Ed018's Note - De Bruyne, Hazard}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

You dont understand how much im smiling :) Hazard would bring that spark we desperately need and De Bruyne is versatile as he could even play centre mid. Have me made any enquiries or approaches for Hazard do you no ED? Thanks

PB {Ed002's Note - I think you need to hold back the bladder and not explode just yet. But it remains a maybe.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Have we enquired for Hazard last week there was no interest in the player?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be happy to see Hazard, De Bruyne and Douglas come in by the end of the window. How likely is Hazard ED?
True Blue. {Ed018's Note - the guessing game isn't a favorite on here. there is a chance}

I’m not that disappointed with the result at Stoke, one of the toughest away games in the league; how many teams won there last year?
What I was disappointed to see was using a holding player against them Despite it being a difficult place to get a result, due to their hard work, physicality etc, there didn’t seem much need for a holding player; especially with Ramires’ work ethic.
Hopefully when we do sign a decent creative midfielder we may be a bit more positive

13

Believable3 Unbelievable0

To an extent, I agree. But most agree that Mikel's performance was one of the better in the team on the day, so it works both ways. Stoke are hard to break down, so a Mikel/Essien type player can sometimes be an advantage to help with counter and holding the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikel's was our best player against Stoke, and I think his height made him essential at set-piece's, especially with Drogba on the bench.

Where will Anelka likely head ED02? Also folk say chelsea may use Kalou in a deal for a player? another question for you is is there anything else on Pato or was it just speculation? {Ed002's Note - If I had to guess, perhaps PSG is most likely for Anelka, or possibly Malaga. Kalou may well leave as well. Pato - could just be old news being recycled.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Did we ever hold talks with Porto over Pereira ED02? Also if Alex leaves will we buy a centre back? {Ed002's Note - I don't know if any offers for Pereira and if Alex leaves it is possible that Rolando or Subotic could be approached - or it may wait until January or next season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 17:41:34
Ed, do any of our players have a “match highest earner” clause in their contract? I seem to remember Terry having one, but may be wrong
Obviously this would cause added problems when the likes of Sneijder and Aguero ask for silly wages; especially when the FFP rules come in {Ed002's Note - There were clauses in the past but I understand there are none now. It has nothing to do with wages for Aguero and the like.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2011 17:37:35
Hey Ed, do you know which players in particular Chelsea were looking at in France? {Ed002's Note - M'Vila was looked at.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I think he's a real promising talent. Do you no what our scouts said about the player? Also do you rate the player?

PB {Ed002's Note - He is an option - nothing more. The "scouts" will discuss individual players but you need to conceptualise what really happens in a case-by-case basis.}

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 16:28:44
What is the latest regarding the signing of Lukaku? I know he is training every day with us but surely the alleged paperwork delay excuse being mooted is wearing a bit thin now. Is there a problem contractually do you know?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2011 16:13:11
I have a funny feeling we may go in for sneijder, after city's result I believe the powers that be won't want to be left behind and miss out again. Fingers crossed eh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2011 14:07:23
Ed..Not having see Kevin de Bruyne where would he play in a 433 system?
Looks more of a winger but some say RM which we already have covered with Ramires. {Ed002's Note - Players are bought for a squad and I never discuss "systems!.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Wide left i think

13

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasnt asking you to comment on systems merely what position he plays if you know?
And players are not bought merely to fill the squad they are bought for a specific function.
I was interested quite reasonably to know what that might be. {Ed002's Note - You need to realise that Chelsea have never bought a player in to fit a position in such an environment. Players, like "systems" adapt. I appreciate this sounds naive, but there we go.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand our transfer policy,what I'm trying to say is we have brought a couple of good young players and our trying to bring in a few more but why wait until the last day of august and rush the deals through.I am very optimistic regarding Modric but just know we will pay over the odds for him last minute.But on the plus side I thought the performance Sunday was a step up from last year and Torres was quality.Just hope we are not serious
About merieles.Hazard,Modric and de Byrne would make me happy with anelka,kalou and malouda all leaving

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I personally don't think it's our 'policy' that's let us down. We bid competitively for Sanchez, handsomely for Modric, still have a bid in for Neymar and refused to be held ransom by Aguero and Pastore.. WHILST still monitoring the situation of many more. Neymar's demands seem to change change weekly and Spurs don't wanna part with their man. I think we are unlucky in our targets being so hard to deal with at times. Names will come in, as well as some also leaving. It may be 'last minute', I just think it's hard to place blame solely on Chelsea's end - not that you, just others seem to. There is still 2 weeks too. Keep the faith.

Hey Ed is there any interest in Marko Marin from Chelsea? {Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2011 12:59:31
In an ideal world (or fantasy football) this is how i would deal in the transfer market in the remaining couple of weeks:

Offer Kalou + money to Arsenal for Kalou.

Sell Alex. We should get at least 10 million for him. With that and "a few dollars more" buy Cahill.

Sell Anelka to anyone, for the highest amount possible, or use him in a trade if someone is willing to take him.

Sell Malouda for anything we can get.

Sell Obi to Juventus.

Sell Bosingwa to anyone interested.

Now i know this might sound odd at places, but per most of fans reaction and clubs stance towards Anelka and Maqlouda in particular, this all sound logical, but sadly there might be too little time left.

Anelka has got 1 year to run on his conract, if we won't sell him now - he leaves on a free, this same applies to Bosingwa. Kalou just simply didn't develop the way club thought he would, same applies to Obi. Malouda is just Malouda.

For al these gentelman we could have an achievable upgrade in van der Wiel (Bosingwa), Cahill (Alex) M'Villa (Obi).

Now when it comes to front left and right - the situation is more difficult, but at the right amount Hazard could be available and so would Mata. I still hope we bid for Pato and Hulk for the right side.

Like i said - it won't happen, but in general it would be a good solution.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Offer Kalou + money to Arsenal for Kalou? Yeah pay them to take Kalou.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kalou for Kalou....?

Agree0 Disagree0

Boswa, Alex and Obi were possibly our best players against Stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell Obi, im glad your not runnig the club. His strength and composure in the middle are unappreciated, I'd take Mikel over M'Villa every time.

16 Aug 2011 12:45:48
ED002: Per someones trip to see Rennes and Marseille, could you share some light? Are we genuinely scouting M'Villa or Andre Ayew? {Ed002's Note - M'Vila was looked at - as are many players on a regular basis.}

Looks like we will strike a agreement with de bruyne and he will stay on loan for another year at genk is this the case ed02? {Ed002's Note - There will likely be some news at the end of the week on de Bruyne.}

Hi Ed,

Will benayoun still be a chelsea player by 1st Sept? and will we sign Modric or Ganso (or which one seems most likely to you?)

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2011 10:24:25
Hi Eds, a lot of talk about Aguero -  expected given his superb intro to the Premiership. A shame to miss out on him but justifiable that Chelsea are now trying not to contribute to the spiralling wages being paid: but I'm wondering how much this due to FFP. Is there essentially a salary cap or a mechanism/gentleman's agreement by which certain players will always be the top earners? Not asking for specific names or wages just wondering if this is a widely used practice across the PL. Thanks, Ian {Ed002's Note - It was nothing to do with the FFP rules - Chelsea and no other club aside from MC would p[ay the wages being asked.}

ed, any truth in the meireles interest? and would we still go for modric even if we bought meireles? also, lucho gonzalez, last year of his contract lets snap him up {Ed018's Note - i don't believe there is any genuine interest in Merieles. he is not the answer to our needs.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2011 11:07:59
Chelsea to sign four players before the window closes.
Modric, De Bruyne, Lucho Gonzalez and Hazard will all join. De Bruyne will join Lille on Loan as will Kakuta. Anelka will be offered as part of the Modric deal to spurs along with Benayoun.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Damn I hope so. this would make us very enjoyable to watch

Agree0 Disagree0

Any Chelsea fan would be happy to see this happen. However i feel Lucho isnt getting any younger and if we could get Yann M'Vila instead we would have a formiddle team for the present and future.

Kevin de Bruyne from Belgian newspaper :-
My manager went to Chelsea last Wednesday and had a good conversation there. Maybe well reach an agreement before the end of the month, because this is a good piece of business for all three parties involved. If there was an agreement with Chelsea, I would stay with Genk for another year."

How high the odds of me joining Chelsea are? I cant say, but its possible. My feelings tell me to do this, and I always follow my feelings.

jeez.....anyone would think chelsea are in a relagation battle with some of these ultra negative posts.......we have won a lot of trophys with these players, skill like that doesnt dissapear over night...

-obi mikel out
-anelka out
-kalou to stay(he versatile and a good impact player)
-gael kakuta out(never gonns be god enouf for prem could be used as possible bate for hazard,m'vila?)

-modric
-hazard
-lucho gonzales(in last year of contract, could be a cheap buy)

on a personal note i am a big fan of andre ayew ED(s) any intrest i the lad?
cheers jack

Believable2 Unbelievable5

How is kakuta never going to be good enough, he is 19 and still developing. also lucho gonzalez is 29 or 30, i thought we were trying to reduce the squads age.

Agree0 Disagree0

From what iv seen kakuta hasent looked like he could play week in week out at chelsea any time soon.....i could be wrong fair enough i just have a feeling that he will end up at an average prem team or back in france....as for lucho gonzalez yeah hes 30 but with 3-4 good seasons still in him and the fact hes in the last year of his contract could represent good value for money and he would offer a lot more creativity that what we currently have(no disrespect)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we would be making a big mistake letting Mikel go, sure he gets slated for slowing the play down with his passing but it cant be easy finding a pass when Malouda wont stay wide, Anelka plays too deep,and Kalou away with the fairies. when Mikel wins posession players come deep take the ball instead of giving him options or stand looking at him, theres no movement or width to our play, the best crosser of a ball in the team is Drogba. Cant remember a natural right winger in the team since Gronkjaer. Mikel is not the problem in our team.

why cant people see that Agueros wages are just too high and can never be justified? He a brilliant player but with the ffp rules coming in and the obvious problems with the other top players once you give someone that much money I think we were right not to bow to his demands, no matter how much I would have like to see him in a chelsea shirt

On almost every Chelsea dedicated site or forum everyone speaks of a burning desire to get rid of Malouda, Kalou and Anelka. I'm sure this also features Bosingwa and Obi Mikel. Getting van der Wiel and M'Villa other the latter two would be an improvement, but getting anyone over the first three would do.

Ijust wonder if anyone wants those 3 in the market? Or are they just Winston Bogart'ing around. When you think that Nic Kalouda makes about 250K a week, it's scary. {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Anelka from Russia and France amongst others and there has previously been interest in Kalou from Turkey and Germany.}

Ed002, would you be able to inform us of the conditions with the hazard situation. I understand some of these things are private but if you could tell us that it would be greatly appreciated. {Ed002's Note - I don't think there is anything that can be usefully said at present. There has been interest in Hazard as we know, there has also been concern over his attitude. He has made it clear he really wants to move to Spain when the opportunity arises, so that doesn't help either.}

Any news on any approaches for either Hazard or Mata.

Please say we are making strides in pursuing at least one of these wingers.

Mirror football is reporting Nicolas Anelka wants to leave the club for first team football. Do you think he could be used in a bid for Modric or Hazard as Lille wouldnt be a bad club to see out the end of his career as well as being French and Tot offer him the chance to stay in London and play for a top english side, plus would help Tot with there striker issue. Chelsea are hoping to pull off a remarkable transfer coup with a late bid for Arsenal's Samir Nasri.

The Blues are desperate to add a creative spark to their midfield before the close of the transfer window. They have had their sights set on Tottenham's Luka Modric as the answer to their prayers but have seen bids of £22m and £27m rejected. Borussia Dortmund's teenage sensation Mario Gotze has been another name mentioned in dispatches but he is keen to continue his development in the Bundesliga. Any truth in this ed? {Ed018's Note - just rumours at this point.}

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Just cant see why we are not doing everything we can to go and get Nasri, quality little player and much more versatile than Modric. Ok if City are prepared to give him 180k a week then yeah there is no way we can compete with that, but at least force thier hand by making a bid to Arsenal. Wenger is a big fan of Kalou so a bid of 15 mill + Kalou might be a tempting offer

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric is still better than Nasri, Nasri had half a decent season and u want to pay 22mil for someone who has a year left. I agree Modric is not worth more than 30mil but with these days prices, everyones price is rediculous?

Well said... I feel like Nasri had a great first half of the season and then when Cesc came back he did not do as well.
