Hey Eds.
Do we have intrest in Seydou Doumbia? he could be a great replacement for Torres but he might be a little expensive tho! {Ed018's Note - no. He has just started to train after being out for quite a while due to a back injury and in the past his price tag has been quite high. I wouldn't expect him to be a striker Chelsea look at in the near future}

Torres has asked to leave, he's aware we wanted to offer him plus cash for Falcoa, but they have said just cash. If we get 20 mill then sell asap.

The problem is not him wanting or asking to go; is there anybody who is 'willing and able' to take him and give him those exhorbitant wages even as he underperforms? If there's such a person, we'll gladly let him go.

Chelsea are reportedly pushing for a part exchange deal for Falcao involving Torres. Chelsea have valued Torres at £20m in discussions with Athletico and are willing to pay £28.5m on top meaning a total transfer fee value of £48.5m. Athletico have apparently not discounted the proposition but are using the time beetween now and January to see if they can find a better replacement and to determine whether Torres meets Chelsea's value. A lot will depend on Torres's form running into January. Chelsea are keen on doing this for two reasons, one, to of course reduce the overall cash fee paid to Athletico and two, they do not want an unhappy Torres sitting on the bench who will inevitably be less of an asset and more of problem than he currently is. Athletico are aware that their fans would welcome the return of Torres and are considering the possibility that Torres could return to form in a league which is less physical and tough on forwards. One stumbling block could be Torres' unwillingness to reduce his wage, however this could be outweighed by the positive feelings involved in returning home and playing for his boyhood club. Chelsea would consider an agreement with Torres to pay a small percentage of his remaining wage in a lump sum if it would help conclude a deal. Abramovich has reluctantly given up hope as he had to with Shevchenko. He sees this an opportune moment to offload him from the wage bill and avoid the embarrassment of sending him on loan next season as was the case with Shevchenko and Crespo. This part-exchange deal is a very real possibility. But then of course it may well not happen. I hope it does. - James13

Believable12 Unbelievable7

Nonsense from start to finish.

Agree0 Disagree0

ED this seems to make sense though i'm not sure where he would have got this. Is there any truth in this? {Ed002's Note - None whatsoever. James13 should perhaps enquire as to who owns Falcao.}

Agree0 Disagree0

But there probably is some truth in it in terms of the fact that a part exchange may be possible. I like James13. He's good value. One of the more entertaining posters..

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not entertaining to make up nonsense.

is there still interest from chelsea in edinson cavani?

Believable0 Unbelievable9

He signed a new deal in the summer mate, ending any possibility of a move in the near future.

do we still want konoplyanka {Ed002's Note - Konoplyanka has been watched by several EPL clubs including Chelsea, Fulham, Arsenal and Manchester United but I doubt he would move to sit on the bench which would probably influence his decision. There is also continued interest from Napoli, Roma and Galatasaray in the summer offered Riera, Baros and cash for the player but were told by Dnipro it would take 50M euros for a transfer to go ahead.}

Ed2, did Pato sign an extention on his contract or does it run out this summer?
ONe Bomb Tom {Ed002's Note - No and no. His contract runs to 2014.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Thank you. Has his value dropped a lot since injury and short time left under contract? {Ed002's Note - He hasn't got a short time left on his contract.}

The difference between a proper striker and the one who "tries hard for the team" but barely scores goals is essential in the title race. Look at Manchester teams: Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez, Danny Wellbeck and Wazza at MU and Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguerro, Edin Dzeko and Balotelli at City.

You all here know that we have Torres. And need to think of Sturridge as an option for center forward. Noted here and confirmed by Ed, that the club will acept offers for Sturridge. I bet club would accept offers for Torres too.

Problem is - prolific strikers cost fortune in either transfer fees and wages or moderate fees due to circumstances (van Persie) but still high wages.

It is pointless carrying a soon 29 Torres with his wages if a prolific striker in the mold of Falcao may come. I wish the club gets a top striker AND a backup/prospect/multiple position forward.

That is cause even with playing a lone striker you still need at least 3 for the position. Otherwise you expect Mata/Hazard/Oscar to carry the team. It is November and the lads already look overworked. Look at Swansea and Liverpool games. Clear signs of fatigue.

JG

Believable19 Unbelievable1

I totally agree with you Jb, 2more months till transfer window opens and we still play in all 4 competions, the players do look tired especially oscar if you ask me, Imo the lad needs a break hes like our turning wheel but lacks stamina, but hey gotta wait till new year till something is done

Agree0 Disagree0

Well argued JG -- you put into words exactly what I've been thinking and put it much better than I would have. Though I think I'd already commented on how Hazard seemed to be flagging compared to early season form. Hope somebody at CFC will read you. Striker/s clearly a priority, but what are your thoughts re. any other weaknesses? VBS

Agree0 Disagree0

More rotation of the squad is needed....not just in the steiker position either. Marin and Moses offer viable alternatives & qualities to our current band of three attacking midfielders...Piazon too tbh.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree we need 2 new strikers (assume we sell Torres + Sturridge) but having 4 is abit too many when we play 4-2-3-1.
And ive said that before too only reason why we lost the games against liverpool/swansea, was because the trio was tired as f*ck. And that is all on RDM he NEED to start changing changing the starting XI, and make better subs during the games even if it is just to rest players. The benched players need games too and from what we know, 2 is already looking else where cause they never gets to play (Sturidge,Romeu). I dont know if RDM is afraid of making mistakes so people can blame it on the XI, but we are gonna lose alot more games if he dosent change around as. Especially Oscar is tired because he is defending like a crazy and on top of that doing some of the Defensive midfielders(mikel) job. cause when Mikel cannot pass the ball forward it force Oscar runs all the way back, get the ball and then run up the pitch again and that happends quite often during a match and it is very hard work.

Even if we get 2 new super good strikers i dont think we wil win the Premier League if RDM dont start to rest the players. I mean against - Norwich,QPR,Nordsjælland(CL),Swansea, Maybe even Liverpool we dont need to put our strongest 11 on the pitch to beat them, it only makes them more tired that what is needed. I am sure we can start using Romeu,Sturidge,Moses,Marin(when fit),Piazon some more times, they need games too so they feel welcome and not just getting 2-3 games a season.

Agree0 Disagree0

RDM should be playing a 4-1-3-2 formation. He should start games off with that attacking mentality and get comfortable enough results. And after you got a good result on the board, it's when you play your defensive formation towards the end of the game. No, RDM does it the other way around. That's where we'll need more than 2 strikers. Every top team has more than 3. I say get Falcao, Bony and call back Lukaku and De Bryne. Sell Torres and Sturrige and other players that are useless. We don't need to be rotating the squad, we need a system that works. You don't see Barcelona rotating unless they have no choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

In my honest opinion we would have had a better chances if our planned transfers business came to fruition. Chelsea searched for another striker all summer long and did not come with anything concluded. Don't be surprised to see a couple of new faces with familiar names in january. As our newbred tough-bargaining takes lot more time than a transfer window to conduct a deal. (Think Torres and David Luiz).

I can't blame RDM. Defence is leaky when Terry is not around. Bertrand can't play well as Hazard does not help. The clear all veterans will backfire at us big time. Schedule is horrible. Team is overworked. We carry so many internationals. Play Man United twice, Shakhtar a great with fantastic pace and tehnique twice. A always tough Swansea away, and wastefullness and fatigue cost us Liverpool.

Imagine we have a Van Persie type. A forward who gives you a goal per attemt type of ability. A tap in here, a volley there, all that. It's a completely different game at 2-0. You can give 30 minutes to Marin, a start for Moses, a chance for Sturridge, maybe. But there's noone else on the bench gentelmen. Azpilicueta plays, so does Bertrand.

If our forward does not score, you still need goals to win games. And there is nothing i can say to RDM. It's a patch of tough games. Had we drew with Shakhtar, we'd be on the edge of no CL football and a new manager in horizon. Had we lost to MU twice it would have sunk our morale.

RDM is shorthanded again. Same like last season. Imagine if we loose another guy or a couple to injuries.

We carry Mikel with hopes of him becoming a good player. A lot of people think he is. I'm devastated. Both him and Torres slows everything down. It's just sad that we can't play in the ball. Mikel is better than ever in regaining possession, but his passing is lame. Ramires, as much as i love him would rather run, than pass. Front three are amazing, but again we lack two guys to the team - a Falcao type predator and a Yaya Toure type tough man in the middle.

JG

Sorry for the long post.

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent thoughts JG. We need 2 players as mentioned by JG. The problem is that a striker costing another 50M could just turn out to be another Schevchenko or Torres. IMO we should buy a young player like Bony and develop other young talents like Lukaku & Feruz by giving them decent no. of chances.
Selling Torres though might be helpful.

Always Blue

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, well put again JG. So Falcao, and perhaps Felliani or who else fits the Yaya Toure tag? VBS

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree to this> i dnt understand how chelse are contesting for the title race and we see ManU and Mancity with minimum of 4 strikers and chelsea is here struggling with so called average strikers(sturigde and torres). the new guys(mata,harzard and oscar) are overworked already and if care is not taken, RMD is digging his grave already. strikers are meaNT TO SCORE and not assist all the time. see falcao,messi,RVP, chicharito,welbeck,zdeko,tevez,aguero etc cnt be compared to our so cvalled strikers. you dnt give too much time if they cant deliver,let them leave.that is why jose morinho will not have this patience before putting you on the bench

ED 002 I have no desire to flog a dead horse however I would like to enquire whether we tried to sign Falcao in the summer and if so why the transfer didn't go through. Be it, a lack of desire from A.Madrid to sell him or a disagreement on the fee.
Also from what I understand Madrid are looking at replacements for him. Have they made any serious enquiries/progress on that front.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Falcao was not available at an acceptable price in the summer and he was not first choice for Chelsea. Atletico Madrid have looked to a number of players to replace him when he eventually leaves. These include Oliveira, Rodrigo, Huntelaar and Llorente.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Who was first choice ED? Cavani? {Ed002's Note - Right.}

Ed, so there is no agreement in place. But may I ask if there are going to be efforts made for Falcao in January and if there's a good chance he'll ever could join Chelsea?

I would be hugely appreciative if you answered this.
Thank You.

PR! {Ed002's Note - As I have explained before, Chelsea maintain an interest in Falcao and if he is available and a fee can be agreed and if he agees then something may happen. As to whether there is a "good chance" he will join or not you will need to wait to see what happens.}
