Reports today that Chelsea are looking to sell Zouma, Emerson, Barkley and Batshuayi.

I'm not massively surprised by any of them, if the reports are to be believed. New signings to replace Emerson and Batshuayi, Ampadu and Gallagher to replace Zouma and Barkley.

I don't really get this obsession about having all youth 11. Imo we already have a good number of youth in the team and need more experienced, established quality and leadership in the squad. Imo regular play should be earned and not allocated to players just because they are youth products.
Again I was very happy to see at least a rumour of Juve's interest in Jorjinho. I do feel Lamps will continue to play him over others if he's still in the club and he's a weaklink in our midfield and as a result put more pressure on the backline. He's good but obviously not suited to the EPL.
Controversially, Lamps must find a way to play Kante in his desired position or personally, I would view it as his own shortcoming and not Kante's. Kante will play in almost all the teams in Europe and the only true world class we have now.

I don't think there's an obsession with it, but it's good to see. The vast majority that have been give an opportunity have done well, and are certainly worth a further investment of time. Ampadu is an international footballer, everyone can see the promise he has and he would offer versatility. Gallagher is considered one of the best young midfielders in the country. These are players that deserve an opportunity with the first team squad.

The days of spending big every window were pretty much over before C.V. - now they're definitely over. Clubs will need to be reliant on their youth systems. Chelsea's investment in their youth system, and the success we've had there, has put us in a really strong position over the next few years.

i think the last 2 or 3 games barkley had before the crisis started he should be given a chance to keep that going. i am interested to see if we would entertain pjanic in a swap for jorginho do on sky sports news? could make sense but i have no idea how chelsea feel about pjanic and also with 1 year left on his contract surely jorginho is of more value right now than pjanic.

Really wouldn’t have a huge issue with any of those listed leaving. Zouma I like but he is what he is and I’d like to see what Ampadu could do. Emerson seems pretty likely to leave and he certainly hasn’t done anything to make me uncomfortable about his exit. Barkley has been fine but nothing incredible and you have RLC returning. Michy hasn’t really progressed as we hoped when we purchased him and it might be for the best for both parties. We definitely need a new left back assuming one leaves. We need a winger to replace Willian/ Pedro assuming both leave. And we need a striker should both giroud and michy leave.

I assume, if there is any truth to it, that Gomes could be brought in as the replacement for Willian / Pedro, that is along with Ziyech. By all accounts he is more comfortable in a central position but all of him, Ziyech, Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi can play any of the attacking midfielder positions. Then you also have Mount and Loftus-Cheek who can attack from deeper positions. I like the way this part of our squad would be shaping up.

One has to assume that this will be to raise funds for some high profile signings. Personally, I think we should send a cheeky bid to BVB with a Bats plus cash for Sancho (;

Think we’d have to get rid of a few to raise those funds!

That said we could potentially see Pedro, Willian, Bats, Alonso, Bakayoko, a centre back, Zappacosta, Drinkwater Kenedy and Moses go. Think they are all still on the books unless I’ve missed something?

I think Mertens would be a really good bit of business. A left back and winger would be ideal. Squad is really shaping up for next season!

If Sancho goes to United what do others think to Chiesa?

chelseab, I think that Chiesa is going to be a very good player. Compared to last year, he already matched his goal tally and has 2 more assists in Serie A with 14 less matches played. I genuinely hope that we are one of the English teams that are reportedly "knocking" for his services.

Think he’s next best from Sancho. Works so hard as well, good pace.

You guys all seem to see Ampadu as a centre-back. From what I have seen and read, his best displays have come as a defensive (? ) midfielder. Someone put me right on this, please.

A rumour today is Chelsea could offer jorginho in deal time sign pjanic, a player Id of wanted 3/ 4 years ago, can't see us needing pjanic, who's just turned 30,

I've seen this reported from the other way. Juventus want to sign a midfielder and are willing to use Pjanic in a swap.

Barcelona were initially interested in a deal for Pjanic but couldn't agree on the swap options. Juventus wanted Rakitic, but he wasn't interested in the move.

Juventus have since turned their attention to Jorginho and are offering Pjanic as part of the deal.

Ed002 can you offer anything on this? Are Juventus interested in Jorginho, and would Pjanic be the only player available as part of any deal?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Jorginho (DM/CM) Juventus see him as another option to Tonali - it may come down to what offer of players/cash is on the table and the desire of the player to leave. Juventus has a whole bunch of players they wish to offer up in part exchanges. Panjic is available and there has already been a discussion with Barcelona over a part exchange, and there are options to consider with Pogba and, in particular, Icardi where there is a financial incentive for the player - but it is complicated. Juventus would also like to take Emerson from Chelsea but Alex Sandro will be offered up although he is not first choice for Chelsea.}

Pjanic 30, Sandro 29, juve are moving these players on for a reason so I personally don’t think we should be taking them, use de Ligt Demiral not players who are on decline,

Yep. It just wouldn't represent good business to offload players who are not only reaching the latter part of their careers, but also coming off a season or two where their performances have been questionable at best.

Lampard's and Sarri's style aren't too dissimilar, and Pjanic has largely struggled under Sarri, have no idea why we would consider swapping Jorginho with someone who has proven he can't do the same job.

I’d take Sandro for Emerson, like to think he has a couple of good years to bring on Maatsen, before me see a transition like Dave and James.
