Roman Abramovich is set to open his purse strings again, shelling out 30 million pounds for Brazilian striker Neymar. Is the nineteen-year-old to form an 80 million-pound super-strike partnership with Carlos Tevez? The ball is firmly on the pitch of Neymar's club in Btazil, Santos where he has been playing since 2009.

Santos has been desperately trying to hold on to Neymar and slapped a 30-million-pound price tag on the teenager's head. However, Chelsea FC has announced that it is prepared to match the asking price. With talk of Carlos Tevez heading to London as well, could this be the start of a super strike force composed by the two Latin American wizards with Nicolas Anelka, Didier Drogba and Daniel Sturridge on the bench?

Another player interesting Stamford Bridge is Everton midfield player Jack Rodwell, a clear sign that the Russian billionaire has seen that he has to renew the squad if Chelsea are to win the Premiership or make a serious effort in Europe. Missing is still a manager after the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti. Since Ambamovich bought the London club for 140 million pounds in the 2003-2004 season, there have been 6 managers (Claudio Ranieri, Jos Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luis Felipe Scolari, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti)...6 managers in 8 years!

Well I saw it in ESPN, so I thought I was true. So how much can demmand Santos?? Its crazy if we need to pay 30M to Santos and then another big amount to othe owners. {Ed002's Note - No, you don't understand. The total fee for the player needs to be negotiated. Not just the part paid to Santos.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

13 Jun 2011 22:22:47
Looks like Santos will demmand 45 million (£39.6 million) for Neymar, his buy-out clause. {Ed002's Note - Santos only own 57% of the player. Don't get suckered in by everything you read, please.}

ED,
aren't Kakuta and Sturridge in the Chelsea plan ??

we had a serious problem in the case we signed Kakuta and now he seems in the outdoor.

what is lagging behind for the Blues than the likes of Man U, Arsenal, Barcelona etc.. who have a long term plan for the youngsters ??

don't you think, we are having our focus on youngsters from other clubs while the same can happen for we ourselves if we had a vision quite long before ??

{Ed002's Note - Both players remain Chelsea's plans.}

Who is going to replace Lampard after he retires in summer 2012. I sure the answer is not Pastore. {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that Lampard's retirement plans fit in with your plans for him, but don't rule out Pastore.}

Believable5 Unbelievable2

13 Jun 2011 18:48:55
ED,
aren't we interested in Eden Hazard?? I suppose, he is more deserving than Pastore.

and, what is the manager saga going on !!! is anyone been watched as Hiddink alternative OR Hiddink deal is supposed to be a DONE DEAL ??

lastly, is Essien in outbound list ?? if done so, will be a BIG DISASTER for the club, keeping Mikel and letting Essien say good-bye...

{Ed002's Note - Hazard and Pastore are entirely different players and cannot be compared. Pastore remains a target, Hazard is very much a background thought still (one club advisor was very much against him a couple of months back). Hiddink will near certainly become manager for one year when we return to Plan A and Hiddink becomes Director of Football. I don't know of any interest in anyone else right now. Essien is not on the outbound list but if the player wishes to leave, and if a good enough offer comes in, then he will likely leave. That is true of most players of course.}

Just heard that we are preparing a 30m offer to santos and it is believed they will accept this sum. Any truth in this ed or is it more Internet bull ? {Ed002's Note - It is last week's news. And keep in mind that Santos only own 57% of the player.}

That would mean we should come up with roughly 55 million, for someone who never played in Europe, other than that friendly against Scots. Now that is what i call a reach. He sure may become a next Messi, or Ronaldo, but the originals come not much more expensive after proving themselves on the biggest stages. That is a ridiculous bid. Anyone remember any brazilian forward to have any significance in the game after they hit 27 years of age?

{Ed002's Note - You have misunderstood. The bid was for the player. But Santos only own a proportion of his contract.}

Phew, i feel some 25 million pounds relieved, then.

Any truth in these rumours Ed002?

Also Hamsik linked with Man City. Would we get involved if he was for sale? {Ed002's Note - There has been on and off interest in Rodwell for about a year. It's driving me absolutely mad they're going to sign Kevin de Bruyne ahead of a genuine Lampard replacement, he's good, I m not denying that, but when there are guys like Alan Dzagoev out there (even Odil Ahmedov) I can't understand signing de Bruyne. I understand we are planning for the future, but Defour is only 23 and so is Witsel I believe and Odjidja-Ofoe is only 21, these are not aged players. Of the young Belgians, as I've already mentioned there are three really great mids I'd have ahead of de Bruyne, Axel Witsel, Steven Defour and Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, Defour is apparently set to leave Standard Leige this summer, it's down to Chelsea, Man U and Man City for him (and we're going to put ourselves out of the race by signing de Bruyne?! its madness).

As for defensive mids, we've got the great Essien, the best player in the latter part of the season Ramires and the good early last season but subsequently poor Mikel. Moussa Sissoko, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe and Josip Ilicic are the guys who could really strengthen that department. Just for the record to if de Bruyne has a great future having played one season in the Belgian league, why won t Josip Ilicic who has played in the far more competitive Serie A, why are several clubs chasing Ilicic and we are the only ones seriously after de Bruyne (Liverpool and Man City have pretty much pulled out) I m not necessarily anti de Bruyne, I am anti de Bruyne ahead of genuinely superior alternatives.

The young Shaktar Donetsk trio of Willian, Alex Teixeira and Douglas Costa would make fine additions. Willian is wanted by Barcelona, Arsenal and Man City as well as Chelsea, Teixeira was the star of the U 20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009, while Costa has been dubbed the next Ronaldinho.

Yet another potential new keeper, Romanian giant 23 year old Costel Pantilimon, of Politehnica Timisoara is also attracting some interest. (We are also looking at Thibault Courtois, Genk's young star keeper).
Further on left Kakuta could be joined by Willian, Antoine Griezmann, Balasz Dszudszak or Juan Mata. I m a big Diego Perotti fan too though, despite this wealth of options Zhirkov playing more and further forward may be a simpler cheaper solution.

Bale is rather overrated regards his league performances and also rather overpriced, however he is a genuine big game performer and it is highly likely that we will look to augment our midfield as well this summer, when Bale s not on song he could be replaced by Ramires or Lampard. We also still have Yuri Zhirkov, (who really deserves more game time than he gets) and Malouda is now increasingly looking his age. If we further consider our options on the left, Vargas, Coentrao, Greizmann, Dszudszak, Perotti, Mata, Monreal and Willian, there are a wealth of talented playmakers and even some proven goalscorers, but no Bale esque game breakers. There is an argument that we need a Mata or Willian far more than we need a Bale, and 90% of the time that would be true, but that 10% may be a Champions League semi final.

Our current quartet of forwards includes Torres, Drogba, Anelka and Kalou. The only one of these players guaranteed a spot next season is Torres. Drogba I would think is likely to stay now, he s hit some form and will be needed if Torres recent success (in scoring his first Chelsea goal) does not improve his overall form. Reports have linked Drogba to Man City, Tottenham, Marseilles and LA Galaxy, of these Marseilles would be the most likely destination, but I think Drogba leaving next season is unlikely. Anelka will probably therefore be the player sacrificed in order to bring in the new blood, he s been a very good player for the club, but will likely be forced out by the new talent, he won t go back to France, Tottenham, Inter and New York Red Bulls are his most likely destinations, with Chelsea preferring either of the latter. The decision about Kalou will be difficult, he s still relatively young really and has been a good squad player. I think he s probably safe next season, but with youngsters biting at his heels and new stars being brought in his long term future may not be with Chelsea.

Out on loan we have Daniel Sturridge, Gael Kakuta, and Daniel Philliskirk. Sturridge has been excellent while out on loan and will likely be brought back to play a part in next season s campaigns. Kakuta has been quite impressive too and there is a reasonable chance that he will also return from loan for next season. Philliskirk will quite likely be released. Of the reserves Lalkovic and Mitrovic are both promising, but so were Fabio Borini and Philliskirk, they will probably see some loan time next season, but it will be interesting to see where they go from there.

Now for the new boy, Neymar. I won t wax lyrical about the young Brazil star, his results at the recent South American U20 Championships speak for themselves. the recent issue of his becoming a father is a potential complication though.

Now for the speculators, firstly Romelu and Jordan Lukaku. Romelu is, as I see it, a must signing but he need not necessarily join the team straight away, a loan back to Anderlecht, or preferably a small team where he would play in Europe (and England, Stoke I m looking at you!) would be ideal, as we first need to integrate Neymar with the rest of the team and the English game. Jordan is apparently progressing very nicely too, but I view him as less essential at this point.

The players for whom Anelka may make way are the stars Chelsea are considering, Pato, Sergio Aguero and Edinson Cavani. These guys are the options for Torres medium term partner, I m a big fan of all three, though at present I d have to give the job to Cavani, he s just playing the best at present.

Then there are the threats to Kalou s spot, Gervinho, Seydou Doumbia (and apparently Taison from some reports I ve heard recently) are potential support strikers, and a threat to Kalou s future at the club. Gervinho has been good, but not great for Lille, but brings the bonus of being quite an accomplished winger as well as a striker. Doumbia is basically Drogba a decade ago, he s still learning the game, but will develop into a great striker. Taison is very quick, and is scoring at a better rate for Metalist Kharkiv than he did for Internacional. A final entrant in this category is Lacina Traore with his great height would make an ideal super sub in the mold of Tore Andre Flo, tall and dangerous near goal.

Then there is the Mourinho and Villa Boas factors to consider, Samuel Eto o, Emmanuel Adebayor, Hulk and Falcao are not really on the radar at the moment for Chelsea (well Eto o and Hulk to a certain degree), a change of manager however may shift this perception and potentially the transfer targets.

Finally the outliers, the players for whom a move to Chelsea is unlikely to say the least, but who would each bring a certain added value to the club. Firstly there is Park Chu Young, a skillful Korean striker who would broaden Chelsea s Asian merchandising horizons, ditto to Japan s Takayuki Morimoto. Finally Jonathan Biabiany, the fastest man in French football is a great young striker, Inter made a mistake swapping him for Giampaolo Pazzini (not that Pazzini is a bad player, but Biabiany could have developed into a truly great one), we should consider benefiting from Inter s folly.

There is a wealth of talent in La Liga that Chelsea should be considering, particularly, given our recent interest the Catalan nursery, at Barcelona. The likes of Thiago and Rafa Alcantara, Sergi Roberto, Oriol Romeu, Gerard Deulofeu and Hector Bellerin have already been well documented as the next big players coming off the Catalan production line, and have all been linked with moves to Chelsea, at one time or another. A few others that Chelsea should consider are the 'next Gerard Pique', Marc Muniesa, the 'next Dani Alves', Albert Dalmau and the 'next Carlos Puyol', Andreu Font s.

Some have also been pushing for an Asian star for a while, namely Park Chu Young, Shinji Kagawa or Keisuke Honda, would be a great signing not just for Merchandising in Asia, but they are good players. Other options include, Takashi Usami, Japan's young player of the year, Ryo Myaichi, Shinji Kagawa and Ki Sung Yeung.
