Are Chelsea still interested in Txixi Begiristain as a possible DOF ed? {Ed002's Note - No, Chelsea have a Director of Football.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Ed002, A lot of comments on this site asking if certain teams don't make the Champions League or if Chelsea were to Win the Competition would We consider making offers for some of their top players.
As somebody in the loop at Chelsea it concerns Me that You often are saying no to any interest on many of these palyers.
Are Chelsea just not in the market for the better players anymore? And if not, why not?

Thanks Ed {Ed002's Note - What a ridiculous question.}

Believable6 Unbelievable4

I don't see an answer to this question before its settled who goes to the champions league next year, at earliest.

Are chelsea interested in Kawaga ED? {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Why not, Ed? {Ed002's Note - I cannot possibly answer such a dumb question.}

Agree0 Disagree0

How is it a "dumb question"? He is a good player in a position we may be looking to fill given the possible departures of Malouda, Kalou, Benayoun. Trying to discern the thinking behind our lack of interest in a good player is not unreasonable is it? Is it because he's too expensive? Not good enough? Ignored by our scouts? Has off-field issues? If you are privy to thinking behind the scenes, this is a legitimate question. {Ed002's Note - There are thousands of professional footballers out there. Should you wish to explain to us why Chelsea have no interest in all but a few, then knock yourself out.}

Agree0 Disagree0

But only a few deemed good enough at the top, the usual names attracting interest from other top teams, and they don't number in the thousands.

It's no different than asking about Hazard (who you explained we had concerns about because of his attitude). I'm not asking you to comment on some obscure player here. {Ed002's Note - There is a significant difference because of Chelsea's interest in Hazard. This is a case of being asked to rationalise a negative - why Chelsea are not interested in Kagawa.}

ED you have said Goetze may leave but where will he go i cannot see him coming to the Prem Barca don't have the funds Madrid already have a lot of similar players that leaves italy are AC milan the most likely as they have got rid of a lot of senior players? {Ed002's Note - If he does move the AC Milan and the major Spanish sides will have the edge over Juventus I would think.}

Hi ed,

I look at this site regularly and noticed that a position i would love to have is an attacking midfielder, but alot of these players you say won't come or unavailable.

for example:
hamsik
Gotze
Hazard

The only one i can think of is Moura, any changes ed? {Ed002's Note - I Can confirm that Hamsik and Goetze are not available. There will be little news from Brazil until about June 7.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I think we already could have one in the form of Piazon. The boy is class and should be given his first team chance, hopefully we may see some of him today :)

Most probably

out
Drogba,Ivanovic,(Kalou?),Sturridge.

In
Cavani,VDW,Alpizueta,(Lavezzi?)(Krasic?)

In my opinion Hamsik should be n1 targ. {Ed002's Note - Hamsik will not be for sale this summer.}

Believable1 Unbelievable7

I would be gutted if ivanovic goes and maybe bit if Sturridge left, kalou malouda drog mereiles I think to leave,

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea need a major squad overhaul.

Players in:

Falcao (Striker) - goalscoring striker
Hazard (Winger) - great potential, more than likely heading to City unfortunately
Javi Martinez ( Defensive Mid) - We need a world class holding midfielder and Martinez is still young
Van Der Wiel (Right Back) - should offer more for him looks to now be heading to Roma

Out:

Hilario - too old
Turnball - not Chelsea quality
Ferreira - too old
Bosingwa - not consistent
Essien - hasn't returned to the midfield machine he once was
Malouda - too old
Meireles - cutting down on age
Kalou - not good enough
Torres - love to see a swap with Falcao for money shame that drogba's more likely to leave

What do you think

Agree0 Disagree0

As I understood Ivanovic is quite happy at CFC but on the other hand Real Madrid is Real Madrid.

12 May 2012 18:00:38
It seems that Ivanovic is on top of RM shoping list. At least Mourihno said that.

Ed002 Is Ivanovich still interested in leaving to play CB regularly?
I think you have said in the past Juve were interested does that still appply and is there any truth in the Madrid rumour ?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Juventus and Real Madrid retain an interest in Ivanovic. He is much happier when playing at centre back.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Not when Andy Carroll's about.

Ed any news on our interest in Joao Moutinho? {Ed002's Note - No, rumours persist though.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Weve been looking at him for years now we need to get him in great lamps replacement

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed he's perfect! Midfield 3=Mikel,Ramires,Moutinho..Reminds me of Makelele,Essien,Lampard under Mourinho

Ed002, since its been stated that you are a Chelsea supporter, may I ask you who you wanted to sign if you were in charge of all transfers at the club? :) {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I have no interest in fantasy football. I am sure others will give their thoughts.}

If spurs do not qualify for the Champions league, could Chelsea consider Gareth Bale for the right price? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

12 May 2012 15:56:39
Firstly If Drogba goes we MUST replace him with a quality centre forward- LLorente maybe.
Sturridge out.
Would love another quality midfielder
Ramires Mata Lampard/Obi + one other
Full back (not as a replacement for Ivanovic)
Hopefully Torres continues his recent form
Make these few changes and we'll walk the league!

Believable4 Unbelievable8

You cant be serious about obi mikel sooner we get rid the safer our midfield would be

Hey Ed002, this might be abit abstract but; if Man United were to bring in a 1st team offensive player (Hazard, or Gaitan for instance) Wouldnt they have to sell one of either Valencia, Young or Nani, since not all of them could be playing at the same time. If yes, could Chelsea be interested if one of them became available? I personally would LOVE Valencia. Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have no interest in them.}

Believable2 Unbelievable9

Okay, thanks Ed, that was the second question you answered, what about the first one? If a new player was brought in I cannot see 2 of them sitting on the bench most of the time. {Ed002's Note - Clubs build squads and not just a first eleven.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, I am aware of that. I just think that these players are to good to be "squad players" and could be a part in the startin XI for the majority of clubs in europe.

I’ll apologise now because I haven’t posted for a while so got a few things to say…

I know we are being linked with new RB’s all the time but is this really the biggest of needs at the club? Yes Bosingwa and Ferreira are both going to be leaving the club in the summer leaving Ivanovic as our No1 RB, something that he has been all season. Van Der Wiel, Azpiliqueta etc. have all been linked with summer moves to the club in the summer but from what I have seen we have very good options both at reserve and youth level already at the club. Hutchinson really needs to be given his chance but I also like the look of both Kane and Clifford; why not have Ivanovic as our No1 and use the good youth at the club as cover for him? Bertrand has proven what the youth can do when given the chance; the signing of a new RB would only push these boys further down the pecking order.

Central midfield is an area that needs strengthening although Ramires, Lampard, Obi Mikel (the recently much improved Obi Mikel) and Romeu should all still be around next season a new addition to that unit should be sought after to replace the outgoing Miereles and Essien. Javi Martinez would fit in perfectly but I think his signature is going to be one of the most sought after in Europe after the Euro’s and can seem him at either Barca or Real. I am a fan of Fellaini and see this as a more likely transfer (if the rumours of interest are to be believed). McEachran could probably do with a years loan at a club where he will play, maybe a return to Swansea if the Icelandic boy doesn’t sign a permanent deal there? Also I’ve read reports that Chalobah plays central midfield in a very similar way to former Arsenal player Patrick Viera…this boy is a very good prospect both in defence and midfield.

Lucas Moura for me needs to be our priority signing of the summer, he is top quality playing either in a central position or on the right. Yes he can be greedy at times although this greed ultimately tends to lead to chances for others in the end. Having Lucas Moura, Mata, Marin, Sturridge, the progression of Lucas Piazon and maybe De Bruyne (if he’s not sent out on loan) would give us substantially better, and younger, options for centrally attacking players and wingers next season.

I really wish Drogba could be singed on a one year deal with another year optional dependent on performances etc. but everything points towards him leaving. It’s a massive shame to see him go but he has been and will always be a legend at the club. Torres continues to frustrate, the odd goal here and there just isn’t good enough but he already appears to be one of the poster boys for next season and won’t be sold in the summer. Maybe a Drogba-less Chelsea will bring the best out in Torres but Drogba leaving will only see another top quality striker coming in; I would love to see Cavani, Higuain or Falcao but think we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the Champions League final before we start realistically talking names. Lukaku deffo needs a loan and Hamburg are the club linked the moment, I would like to see him at a Premier League club but Hamburg would see him playing regularly. Would also like to see Patrick Bamford get a loan.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

1, because ivanovic prefers being centre back & doesnt wanna b right bk.
2. mikel still aint good enough, lampard squad player. so really we need a new holding and a creative centre mid.
3 sturridge has to go, but moura should be signed mata lucas marin can all swap along the attacking 3 which would be hell for defenders i still think well try and sign either hulk, hazard, or di maria

Agree0 Disagree0

& 4 time for drogba to move on. and before u strt saying about torres look at the balls he gts fed NOTHING so tats down to our crap midfield and s**t wingers like kalou, sturridge , malouda its not like drogba has been amazing this year. torres has played and scored wel when hes in the best 11 but recently hes been in second string teams. the team needs to be built around torres and mata simple as

Agree0 Disagree0

Ivanovic might prefer playing I the centre but it's clear he is a better RB than CB; his positional sense at CB is questionable at best! If he can't handle playing on te right then e'll probably go too; then another RB would be needed...obviously!
If you are playing with a 4-2-3-1 (presumably with Mata in the middle) then you are looking for someone to play alongside Ramires in the midfield...Lampard will play some games, Obi Mikel will probably stay as a squad player as will Romeu so you are really looking for or holding midfield player for the squad...Fellaini or Javi Martinez!
Just can't see us getting Falcao, Cavani or Higuain...Drogba for another year or what are the other better options? I'm supportive of Torres but to blame the rest of the team for his for his form at times thi season is nieve

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are people saying sturridge needs to go or that he is not good enough in fairness the lad has had a fair season even though he has been used as a winger instead of a striker he has sill produced the goods and would much rather him starting over torres any day of the week just think it is stupid the way people think he should leave cant understand it ?

Agree0 Disagree0

-->Drogba should be given a 2 year deal..He can be a Mentor for our Young Forwards like Feruz. If he plays well which he should then its a win-win situation for Chelsea.
-->Chelsea definitely need players to play on either wings. We have got Marin but others like Sturridge & Kalou are jst not good enough. We should definitely move for Hazard (less likely), Halk or Di Maria.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not much to say mate

Ed, it's not a Chelsea related question but are Munich looking to sell some of their attacking midfielders, I mean they will have by the end of summer...

Muller
Ribery
Robben
Kroos
Reus
Shaqiri

Surely, obviously not Reus or Shaqiri but one of the others may leave?

PR! {Ed002's Note - Reus is not a Bayern Munich player. One of the others may well leave.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Oh of course his at Dortmund, I just remember bayern were interested him prior to him joining Dortmund, am I correct.

Cheers Ed, you do a lot a we all appreciate it.

PR! {Ed002's Note - They were.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Reus is a Dortmound player

Agree0 Disagree0

Shaqiri hasn't met his new bayern team mates yet, rues is not bayern player and robben signed new contract and bayern have stated they have no intention of selling muller

Personally I think these are the players that will leave in the summer:

Drogba
Malouda
Kalou (?)
Meireles
Boswinga
Essien (?)
And hopeful think I know but Turnbull...

Joining:

Higuain - Link with him heavily in January, I think the move will happen this summer.

Schurrle - We are interest in him, I think he is a fine player with everything you need to replace Kalou.

Di Maria (?) Or someone similar to him, so we can fulfill that right winger role.

Fernando Reges - Extremely good tackler!

Apzilicueta- We need a right back, and he looks like he's the man for the job.

Starting team for next year.

-----------Cech----------
Apzilicueta-Luiz-Terry-Cole
-----Ramires-Fernando----
Di Maria---Mata---Schurrle
------Torres/Higuian------

Subs
Hilario
Ivanovic
Cahill
Romeu
Lampard
Marin
Sturridge

What do you think Chaps?

PR!

Believable7 Unbelievable11

Agree with Di Maria. The RB is no better than Ivanovic so no thanks, would rather have Van Der Wiel who's taller and better in the air and more effective from set pieces defensively. Higuain is quality, not sure about Schurle though, reports are he's flattered to deceive at Leverkusen, would rather give the kid Piazon a go! Or De Bruyne, somebody who will run at opposition!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice but i would get rid of sturridge replace him with schurelle

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is fernando reges?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ivanovic starts (full stop)!

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence mate but i thought transfers were to improve the team the only really good person is Di Maria and there is no chance of getting him inb the summer

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2012 13:17:02
Ed, do Chelsea still maintain an interest in Fernando of Porto, and do you believe they may look at him quite closely over the summer?

PR! {Ed002's Note - Yes there is interest in Fernando. I don't know where he will be in the summer so you will need to find him if you wish to stare at him.}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Sarcasm...Oh Ed

PR!

does anyone else realise that torres can never be what he was before. he hasn't scored in big games except barca. he was very ineffective against looserpool and for 50 mil. i would want to sell him. he might have won a medal with us but played no part in the final. i'd rather have andy carroll to be perfectly honest. we need falcao though

Believable7 Unbelievable12

Come on, it's one of the biggest games in the clubs history next week and Your slating one of our players. How about getting behind them for next week! Not cool man!
Dan J

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres has scored more prem league goals than drogba this year and kalou

Agree0 Disagree0

Looserpool did they not win against us 4-1 ?

Agree0 Disagree0

For those slagging torres please note...chelsea do not play the way liverpool played when they had him.Maybe you should ask malouda and sturrigde why they never seem to pass to him when on the attack. The man makes run after run and those two never feed him the right pass at the right time, always looking for glory themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

How was Torres ineffective against Liverpool? He was bgiven the ball once and he ipped up the defenders and hit the bar! If Frank and Mata had started I wouldn't have bet against Torres getting a hat-trick, he hates Liverpool!

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2012 23:25:59
Ed, is there even the slightest possibility that Neymar could join Chelsea this summer?

Believable6 Unbelievable9

That would be awesome!
