Hey ed, with our lack of quality in the CM area, do you know if Chelsea will be making a bid for a CM in January or isn't that posistion a top priority?
Thanks for the hard work you've put into making this site a first choice when it comes to football rumours. {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to get in to predicting timescales for bids or when transfer could actually happen, particularly as January is not a time people plan for transfers. A number of midfield player have been looked at and I think they have all been discussed, but here goes. Chelsea have a strong interest in Imbula still and have spoken with Marseille. Khedira remains of interest but the price is high and the option is an exchange Chelsea would rather not consider. There is also a possible complexity over him being offered to another club in part exchange for a player. Matic is seen as too expensive right now but if the price dropped to an acceptable level there may still be interest, but I would very much doubt will be moving in January. Matuidi has been considered and might prove to be a cheap option but there is plenty of interest from elsewhere. There have been enquiries made over others such as Gundogan (who is apparently not for sale), Pogba (who Chelsea bid on before he left Old Trafford) and Jorginho (was never going to be more than a long-term option). I should perhaps say that there have been discussions over another player from Spain - but I understand that the club wishes to keep that a little under wraps fro now as it may well involve someone going the other way and the matter has not been discussed with him yet.}

Matuidi, Matic or Pogba would be great, I don't see why people see Imbula we need a good solution now and he can't even get in the marseille side at the minute so how's he getting into our XI? Gundogan in my opinion would be the one we need desperately who's technically great all round. Khedira wouldn't be too bad all though I don't think he would sit back as much he's also box to box like Ramires {Ed002's Note - It is not anything to do with football that Imbula has missed a couple of games.}

If you are saying that Matuidi would be the cheapest option out of all those players then we should definitely go in for him because he easily the 1st or 2nd best player on that list. The guy is absolutely outstanding! One of the best CDM's there is out there.

Very interesting stuff, thank you Ed. Don't think it's a secret Real would like to swap Khedira with Ramires, we'll see how will that pan out although my opinion is that a) I don't think Khedira would make us better at all and b) if Real offers more than 30 million for Ramires then take it. Do you mind if I ask you about that unnamed player from Spain, this part intrigues me very much. could you at least disclose for which club he plays, pleaseee :-) Cheers. {Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to any guessing games.}
