Hi Ed002, you have said FFP is a good system for teams to follow so clubs don't end up like everton and outspend there means and end up in disaster land.

I just wanted to get your opinion on chelsea and clubs doing similar things. Yesterday chelsea sold a hotel to another Boehly owned company and are able to count that in as income under FFP.

Is that not completely ridiculous? Or am I completely misinformed? (I'm happu to be told that if I am)

{Ed002's Note - The hotels were not sold yesterday but the income can be claimed in the accounts as they are assets of the business - as long as they are not over or under valuing those assets.}

Standard, I'm no forensic accountant but there is nothing to prevent Chelsea from selling assets within the larger sporting structure. I believe that clubs in the football pyramid beneath the Premier League cannot include these transactions on their accounts, and this is also the case in Europe, but I could well be wrong on that.

It's also important to remember that even though they appear to have used this sale to their benefit in this year's accounts, it will now presumably mean that the club can no longer include revenue from the hotels in future accounts. So there is a give and take to this manoeuvre, and there are implications for the future.

While some will look at this and think 'another loophole', the club will probably argue that there is no sense in it owning hotels as a football club when they have set up a company to manage property.

{Ed002's Note - You have misunderstood the matter.}

I'm a big fan of comeback stories, I'd love to bring in Deli Alli to chelsea, maybe we could resurrect his career.

Dele Ali to Chelsea not a good idea. However, he was a very good player and then got lost. He seems like a nice lad and I wish him all the best for the future. He was dead right about the penalty fiasco.

I may be being a little cheeky here, but after one of the highs of the season after a good result against everton, any chance of a list of potential transfer targets for chelsea and potential outgoings?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It is really not worth the grief.}

Turning this on its head ED, what players do you think will leave in the summer either permanently or on loan?

I would imagine the plan might be as follows Bill.

Agreed in principle

Maatsen. To Dortmund
Hall. To Newcastle

Leave (assuming all parties agree)

Lukaku
Silva (out of contract)
Sarr
Ziech
Kepa
Broja

Maybe Conor? if contracts can't be agreed.

Marc Curcurella? I think ED said he might be made available.

I'm sure discussions will then be had with all the current loanees and young players around the squad as to whether they stay or go on loan.

G8, I’d include Sanchez and Badiashile has been linked with leaving along with Chalobah. Personally I’d probably keep him but I’d expect him to go. A potential wildcard could be James leaving in a swap deal with Real.

For all of those interested in transfer dealings. Ed02 has given a very full summary of the potential transfer interests for many clubs on the Man Utd site.

Have a good one lads and looking forward to catching up soon.

Thanks for the steer Tom. This list along with the one on the RM page are both interesting reads. Still no idea who our preference is for a winger in the summer. Both lists suggest interest in a couple of players but state they are the number 1 target.

Any ideas?

Pretty sure it is kavashkelia and we are talking to Napoli about a deal with Mudryk going the other way. Doubt it happens with Osimhen leaving unless ed002 can give hope?

Not sure but it’s been said we’ve asked about Musiala a few times last year so potentially he could be our no1 target but who knows.

So, could we get Europa league, which would be a disappointing season BUT, with a young team that would be a good competition for a lot of them, but some serially tough games to see season out. Plus a semi v city and the final

Arsenal A

Villa A

Tottenham H

West Ham H

Forrest A

Brighton A

Bournemouth H.

I think we could win 5-6 out of the last 7 games.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 Apr 2024 00:28:36
On paper we should win the last 4. Spurs may becoming spursy again after this last weekend so maybe a win there. So I could see 5/ 7 wins. But realistically I think it’ll be something like 4 wins 2 draws and a loss ideally, so 14 points.

Impossible to think that we will display any kind of consistency from now until the end of the season.

After 4-1 Spurs and 4-4 City we promptly got thrashed by Newcastle, United and Everton.

After 4 wins in a row in Dec/ Jan we shipped 8 to Liverpool and Wolves.

Prior to Everton we were unbeaten in 7 but had conceded 15 to largely poor teams.

We took 9 points from these teams earlier in the season. Consider me firmly sceptical about taking more than that.

Wow!

What a performance that was Cole Palmer is signing of the season and for me I think he is the best player i've seen in a Chelsea shirt since Eden Hazard. Everytime he gets the ball you feel something is going to happen. I love his air of confidence and his swagger.

Caceido and Gallagher both superb tonight, that was Caceido's best performance of the season so far. I don't think he lost a dual and bossed the game. We look so much better without Enzo Fernandes.

Buzzin for Alfie Gilchrist as well getting his first goal. Loved his interview their where they asked him about the penalty incident and he brushed it to one side.

Now to the penalty. Jackson and Mudeke both need to grow up their actions their was pathetic. However Im happy to see Gallagher growing into his captains roll and learning from previous mistakes and handing the ball to GOAT of penalties.

Hopefully we will have a big push till the end of the season and get sixth. Bring on Man City next weekend. Up The Chels!

Just home from the match.

My negatives from the game. 1) Mudryk continually losing the ball left Cucarella exposed far too often. 2) The penalty fiasco has been dealt with by Poch. 3) Poch could have made some substitutions much earlier.

Obviously Palmer MOM. What a class player this lad is. The bloke next to said he has now scored more Chelsea goals than Havertz.

Jackson was a real handful throughout the game. Two assists and a goal and he gave the Everton CH's a torrid time.

CG gave a very assured and disciplined performance as a DM.

Noni was always willing to take on his man and caused them all sorts of problems.

I don't see Everton often (thankfully) but I have read suggestions that we should to sign Onana. Well tonight Caicedo had him totally in his pocket and it was no surprise that he was hooked at HT. For me it was Caicedo's best performance in a Chelsea shirt.

So pleased with the result and performance and I can now have my treatment with a smile on my face.

Caicedo immense. Regarding havertz, never wanted to say it like this cuz he was a chelsea player but he was absolutely rubbish for chelsea. lol.

Enzo doesn't get in for me now the further defensive Gallagher is the better he is. I would have subbed the two off for the penalty embarrassment I get noni thinking he may of won the penalty and Parmer had the hatrick but the other one, what right! He's only netted 1 in 9 hasn't he on the other hand he did play ok.
Still looked a little disjointed at times defending but a lot better all round I really think there's a player In mudryk.

Agree0 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 22:36:27
Agree with Mudryk a top player in there.

Regards the penalty Deli on sky made a good point they weren't fighting over it in the 97th minute against Man Utd

Not convinced by Noni at all.

Caicaido had a great game tonight.

I thought it was a very average performance by Mudryk who constantly left Cucarella exposed by losing the ball or just not being strong in the challenge.

15 Apr 2024 23:47:50
Yeah I would have hooked the both of them immediately. I don’t mind either of them taking the penalty given we were 4-0 up but would expect them to talk it out respectfully etc and not be throwing handbags over it.

Think pretty much all of the starting 11 had a really solid game. Caicedo looked so much better overall, good in the tackle and recycled the ball well imo.

Was really impressed by the amount of second balls we won when we punted it upfield. Almost every game I’ve seen the opposition defence have won the header and then we’ve been nowhere near the knockdown to challenge for it but today we seemed to be on every ball.

One thing I still don’t understand though is the goal kicks. I get playing out from the back but it truly baffles me having both CB’s in the 6 yard box for the kick. Seems to bring so much unwanted pressure imo.
Also granted we were 2-0 up and we didn’t need to be full out attacking, but there were times where we’d regain the ball off Everton (due to the player slipping or w/ e) and instead of trying to counter in any way, our player just stands there with the ball for 10-15 seconds til Everton are back in their shape.

Great performance from caicedo and Gallagher in the midfeild. Enzo needs to pull a finger out and start performing otherwise I agree I don't think he'll get back in.

Standard I disagree on enzo, he will easily displace cg to reclaim his position. I think he's played many games and looking a little tired atimes. In some ways Everton made it easier for us though. The guys did very well but enzo will reclaim his position regardless.

That win ruined but idiots trying to take the ball off palmer, Jackson and noni, selfish idiots, palmer takes pens, why add more pressure to him, poch needs to tell them, idiots. It's a TEAM game, really dampened a phenomenal performance .

Game was won Poch probably didn't want to make it a bigger issue but should of taken Jackson and Noni off instantly.

15 Apr 2024 22:13:02
Had thought the same seymns Poch needed to assert some authority.

But at last a game when we take almost all of our goid chances and CP truly outstanding with Caicedo with one of his best performances, Jackson excellent except his silly penalty childishness and Madueke almost ditto.

Both Jackson and Caicedo on 9 yellows now get reservations 0.

So quite sine might for celebrations even if we still looked shakey in defence at times or careless with some passes. But going forward we were really exciting almost always.

15 Apr 2024 22:24:11
Agreed, that was a great performance that was needed after a couple of shaky teams against the sides as good as down. I really don’t understand what happened with the penalty and what worries me is this isn’t the first time this has happened, Madueke has tried to take one off Palmer at least once before this. How has Poch not made it absolutely clear that Palmer is the penalty taker?

Agree0 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 22:26:01
Missed the game because it was a 5am game for me but will watch the extended highlights soon.

I have seen the madueke and Jackson incident. Absolutely embarrassing. Poch shoukd have taken them both off instantly. They appear to have a bad attitude problem.

Agree0 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 23:12:30
Embarrassing from Jackson and Madueke, both of them were selfish and petulant, it’s good that they want to score but you can’t behave like that.

Great performance other than that, Palmer superb as usual, level with Haaland for the golden boot with 6 games to go, incredible signing.

Agree0 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 23:22:10
Poch in his press conference said the players know who takes the penalties and it’s Palmer. He was very angry about a situation that was agreed pre match. He expressed his anger in the dressing room post match.

Hope that is the last time that happens.

Agree0 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 23:51:25
At 4-0 I don’t mind another player taking the penalty in that situation, opposite of Sterling taking it in the cup when we were 1-0 up. But if players are going to throw handbags about it then it’s best that it’s 100% palmer 100% of the time, even if another player is on a hattrick.

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 09:21:34
It’s a shame that a good performance has been somewhat overshadowed by the penalty incident. Someone said Poch has dealt with it, well let’s hope he has but it shouldn’t have happened again. His weak, waffling response to the previous penalty incident has probably contributed to what happened last night. IMO, the designated penalty taker should always take it whatever the situation. If the penalty was awarded it a tight game, that sort of behaviour could unnerve the penalty taker. That said, in that scenario the players involved would probably be walking away quickly from the penalty spot. One or two suggestions that Enzo shouldn’t be starting; that’s worrying considering how much we paid for him and that he is reportedly about to get a contract extension.
