Ed002 Lazar Markovic is due in lisbon to complete his move to Benfica are Chelsea in no way involved in this deal? {Ed002's Note - How would you see Chelsea involved in a transaction between other clubs?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A bit like when Chelsea bought Alex but gave him to PSV Ed so Chelsea has no involvement in a deal Markovic will move to Benfica? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Stupid Partizan president giving us hope that Markovic will actually be sold to chelsea.

Franco

Agree0 Disagree0

Now there are reports he is going to be a chelsea player but be loaned to benfica, think this came from the partizan president. not certain. {Ed002's Note - It is not that simple.}

Hi Ed02,

I understand that you might have come under some abuse from users of this website. So my question is--do you work for this website? Is this a hobby or are you a volunteer?

{Ed002's Note - All of the Editors volunteer their time.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm certainly extremely grateful for the info you share ed002! LEGEND

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I suggest u give it up m8 your replys offer nothing! u say the same thing saying u got no intrest in answering questions! well if that's the case your defeating the object of the whole site! you might not like what I say but its the 100% truth ed18 gives an opinion u just sulk because u get a little bit of abuse and ruin it for the whole site!

pinky {Ed002's Note - Fine, suits me.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hats off to the Eds

Franco

Agree0 Disagree0

PINKY. . why do you even have to mention this. the ed doesn't give an opinion because of the abuse from people like yourself. then when offering no opinion you abuse them again you are an intelligent person i'm sure but next time say nothing because that's what we like to hear from you nothing. ed02 is by far the best ed on here and if you looked at the insight other teams pages gets from him you would alter your attitude as ed02 seems to have good reliable info but doesn't waste it on you thankfully

Hey ED,

The DailyMail are reporting that we are looking into building a 60,000 cap stadium at the Earls Court venue called 'Little Bridge'.

Any truth to this?

Thanks Ed. {Ed002's Note - RTP.}

Looks at though Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne will be part of the first team next season. Mourinho has apparently made it clear to Bayer Leverkusen general manager that KdB cannot be a part of the Andre Schurrle transfer. However, the interest in buying Schurrle still seems to be there.

I would think a lot of this has to do with what happens with Marko Marin - would love to see him try and replace Zaha at Palce next season. I still think Marin could be an asset to us, but he needs to prove himself again after an awful first season in England.

Courtois is apparently set for another loan at Atletico this season coming. Only this time, there will be a recall option in his contract that can be activated in January.

I am very happy with all the squad developments that have occured since the arrival of the Special One - with exception to the fact that it is reported he is considering the future of Juan Mata, hopefully just media BS.

What are the thoughs of my fellow Chelsea fans?

Alessandro

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd be happy with that, lukaku needs some first team action at Chelsea where I'm sure he'll have a point to prove, same with de bruyne as well

As for Marin I think he's been handled badly at Chelsea, dogged by injury then forgotten about, I can't see him having a future at Chelsea now which is a big shame for me

Agree0 Disagree0

And I'm quite sure the board wouldn't allow the sale of our 2 times player of the year, he's crucial to the team and I'm sure Jose has plans for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Marin handled badly? The only thing handled badly was Marin's play when he got his chance on a thin squad last year that was begging for someone to step up and show they could be trusted to take minutes off our midfield trio. even in limited minutes its hard to hide good talent and abilities, the fans saw what the coaches and manager saw. Not good enough or not ready.

Any scouts watching the Netherlands vs Russia u21's will be purring over the Dutch! They're a joy to watch, they're all comfortable on the ball, brilliant.

This youth we're supposed to be looking at looks like a great talent

Yeah, from the Dutch team: Van Ginkel

I know this is ver lightweight but if the players were disciplined do you think this could work?

Luiz
Oscar
De Bruyne Mata Hazard

In the striker roll either who we get or Lukaku
Your thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oscar is actually a good tackler and getting stronger, so is hazard as well. Mata needs to show a bit more aggression.

Agree0 Disagree0

You could very easily go with this against teams that sit deep.

Luiz
Kdb. Oscar
Mata. St. Hazard

In a semi realistic world what positions would you say need strengthening and who would you buy?

. Cech.

Cesar. CB?. Terry. Cole

. CM?. Luiz.

. RW?. Mata. Hazard

. ST?. .

CB - Mangala, Marquinhos, Varane, Papadopoulos

We need a world class, quick, strong and young CB who will be provide a different option next to J Terry or Ivanovic.

CM - Thiago, Gundogan, KDB

With Luiz in CM we have someone who is strong, quick and who can defend but also play through balls. Next to him we need someone disciplined who has an excellent range of forward passing. Thiago and Gundogan fit this perfectly, they are young, gifted technically and can play a beautiful ball.

RW - Hulk, Isco

Hulk would bring us the pace and counter attacking brute force we lack atm. He is well built, left footed which means he likes to cut inside. he's done well at Zenit but I would buy him on his Porto form, he was sensational. Isco is another small and gifted technical player. He is the next Iniesta in my opinion, fantastic feet, great passing, can beast a man and finish. He would be versatile across the front 3 and as his performances in the u21's show he is potentially outstanding.

ST - Cavani

Falcao has gone to Monaco so that leaves Cavani. he's 26 and the complete striker, he's tall, quick, strong and a lethal finisher.

KDB can also cover the CM and 3 attacking positions and would be my 1st option off the bench. Lukaku also to be recalled to back up Cavani.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree completely, Oscar, like KDB can also cover deep and within the front three, as he has the ball distribution skills we lack from the transition of defend to attack.

As soon as I saw no Oscar in your lineup I skipped reading your post.

Ed18, what players would you personally like to see next season, mine being van ginkel, mangala, hulk and cavani, also anyone else want to list theirs, just interesting to see who everone would like.
Joe {Ed018's Note - I'd take everyone you listed but Hulk. I'm not a fan. Rathe Jovetic or Aubameyang}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd have Mangala, Van Ginkel, Schurrle and Jovetic

Jackson

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I think the other 2 are better technically but I don't know, if its the name or something just really like him aha
Joe

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd go :
Cavani
Mangala
Schurrle
A Cm/Cdm (I would say Van Ginkel, but I haven't seen him play, Gundogan would be ideal, but clearly unrealalistic).

Jose Mourinho doesn't do well with young players. He doesn't try to integrate them into the first time. Jose Mourinho wins trophies with mercenaries and then the team falls apart.

Except it's clearly not true at all.
here's an excerpt from the European Club Association's Report on Youth Academies, published last August:

Jos Mourinho's team 19+4 won the Treble

The work Jos Mourinho undertook at Internazionale Milano FC is highly appreciated - especially his vision of football. Mourinho supervised the work of Inter's youth academy via regular visits, meetings and open discussion with youth coaches in order to develop new Inter players. Mourinho launched the so-called 19+4 format in the Senior A team squad. He wanted to have 19 experienced, world-class players plus four promising youngsters from the club academy. The academy is therefore responsible for developing at least four players capable of joining the Inter A team every season.

Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has a few simple beliefs that he has shared with the public.
Start with your group of players and the resources you have available. Then develop a playing style. Use it and test its success and from then you have developed your style of play you can move on towards achieving your goals.
Mourinho likes to get the best out of his side and will adapt his tactics to what he has. There are a few traits that remain with all of his teams. His teams often defend rather deep and as a unit and then quickly break forward once they regain possession.

Training regime and style.

Tactical Periodization:

The idea was created by Victor Frade a Portuguese coach. This style of training is very popular amongst Latin countries but is pretty unique to England.
There are 4 stages of the game: Offensive Organization, Transition from Attack to Defense, Defensive Organization, Transition from Defense to Attack. Tactical Periodization is based on the idea that any drill or exercise should be working on one of the 4 phases of the game. It also lays out a plan for the intensity level of practices. You will frequently find ex-players talking about how Mourinho always involved the ball in training and made it fun. This is because his drills are always incorporate the ball, competitiveness, short and intense structure and include one of the 4 stages of the game. For his training to work properly he likes to have at least 2 full-length pitches side by side. Tactical Periodization training also helps players gain explosiveness and recovery ability. Mourinho's sessions will last no longer than 90 minutes and are very intense with a few quick breaks in between.

The Color Box:

Mourinho uses a Color Box system. Basically he has a few colors that he explains thoroughly to the players and that have a command that comes along with it. For example, during a game Mourinho may shout "Blue Box". The team then will perform an action, like intensive pressing. During training Mourinho will have players work in different areas that are outlines with different colored cones. So for example if they have green cones in an area the goal of this small sided game might be for the side to keep possession of the ball. Then in a match when he shouts "Green Box" the players will try and keep possession.

Drills:

There are 39 drills that he uses. He adds to these as he learns more and gains more info but these are the core 39 drills. The drills are then adapted slightly to different tactical situations. Someday will post those 39 drills as they are quite fascinating.

Finally when he first meets his players he hands out a letter that contains his recipe for success.

We are a TEAM. Motivation+Ambition+Team+Spirit=Success.

His set-up and drills are also usually adapted by the youth set-ups to ease the transition from the youth level to first-team. Finally another style that he uses during the game is resting on the ball. Mourinho's sides work very hard without the ball to get into position and the goal is to make the transition occur as soon as possible. This is very tiring, as are his counter-attacks. Therefore throughout the game there are certain points where his team will rest on the ball. He calls it "possession for the sake of possession". This is a chance for his team to recover and they will be ready for their next attack.

Stadium

The idea that Chelsea are looking to leave their only home for a new and larger one is always going to be an emotional topic. The capacity isn't enough to sustain the current level of success indefinitely. Chelsea could expand the current stadium but at an unthinkable cost to the club.
There remains the barrier of the Chelsea Pitch Owners to deal with. They still hold the freehold on the land and the right to the Chelsea name. They're probably not an obstacle to a move, but they make it more difficult to accomplish. Even though the club failed in its last attempt at buying back the freehold, it was only a marginal loss. Given that and the positive response to the subsequently-released artist's rendition of the plans for the failed Battersea Power Station site, the club will not fail a second time if they come in prepared.
Part of any preparation will be a solid plan for a move elsewhere, and probably a winning bid already in hand. With the potential options for a local move quickly dwindling, due to the built-up nature of the area, that bid is probably going to have to come in the very near future. Accordingly, there have been reports recently which should give Chelsea fans hope.
The first, as reported in the Mail, is for the club to go in for the Earl's Court redevelopment. The Lillie Bridge development has long been assumed to become a part of the existing plan. However, it appears that that portion will not be included in the CapCo plan. Instead, the 17-acre site will be sold on the open market by Transport for London. That opens it up to a potential Chelsea bid.
It measures 17 acres to Stamford Bridge's 12. 5, but it's a fairly-narrow stretch of land. It may not, in fact, be big or wide enough for us to put in a 60,000-seat stadium. The club say they need 18-20 acres in a square configuration. As with our current home, it abuts a rail line. This may affect the stadium's egress routes, which is one the major issues affecting a redevelopment of Stamford Bridge.

Also in the news, and on a more speculative bent, there might be a slight chance that Chelsea could be back in at Battersea. A few weeks ago, as reported on the page of a Power Station preservation group, Sime Darby have come in £250m short of their funding for the first phase of the project. how those news could affect the current plans for the Power Station, no idea but it's an interesting development and one to keep an eye on.

DeLaRusso {Ed002's Note - The critical matter with Battersea is the second phase which we discussed before.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Ed002, I know phase 2 is a planned restoration of the power station, is there a way for chelsea to change this plan? I've tried the search function but can't find what youve discussed before! thanks for your time. {Ed002's Note - No, Phase 2 of the property development.}

Cavani, Mangala, and van Ginkel - I can see the sense in all of these and each would be a great signing in its own right but we desperately need another midfielder who can hold.

Also there is press chat about Moses leaving - I thought he did well last season and hope Mourinho gives him a chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Moses scored a few critical and good goals, other than that I thought the rest of his game was terrible! Just another kalou in my eyes, never rated him.

Moses is still extremely young. Plus he counts as home grown and is versatile. I think he is an excellent squad player

Sorry but we need neither Sneidjer nor Boateng. All our creative midfielders are far superior to Sneidjer at the moment. Even a 35yrs old Lampard is fitter and contributes more to the team than Sneidjer. Boateng is not a holding midfielder and just average at whatever he does on the pitch. Better options out there.
