I really think the Danny drinkwater signing is the writing on the wall that cesc fabregas' time at the club is coming to a close. Cesc provides a homegrown deep lying centremid who is tremendous on the ball but leaves a lot to be desired defensively and ground covered (especially in a two man midfield) not to mention is on the back end of his career cycle when you consider he was getting 1st team minutes at 16. In Drinkwater you add a homegrown centremid that is very good on the ball (although not as good as cesc) but provides a better fit for a 2 man midfield in terms of mobility and defensive acumen. While drinkwater won't leave me astonished with his passing very often, I also believe I won't see us get absolutely dominated in midfield like we have a tendency to do with cesc in the lineup.

I disagree with this being the end of Cesc. Not every team is the same depends on the opposition. Both players have strengths and Weaknesses I'd rather have someone like Cesc in midfield if we need a comeback or a quick goal.
