Hey Folks,

Just a piece of pointless Fun on a slow Sat afternoon but how do people think. We'll line up for Our first fixture of the upcoming Season.

I reckon it'll be.

GK: Arrizabalage
LB: Emerson
CB: Luiz
CB: Rüdiger
RB: Azpilicueta
CM: Jorginho
CM: Barkley
CM: Kante
WF: Willian
WF: Pulisic
ST: Giroud

I think assuming there will be no incoming signings and the injuries We have, this will likely be Our Starting 11.

Anybody else.

Blue Nose, my guess is it depends on the manager and if we take on yet another change of shape but as things stand your team selection seems reasonable.

Hey Tom,

I should have stated that the team I stated was based on playing a 4-3-3 formation similar to what Sarri has done for much of this season.

The Head Coach and their ideas will determine who gets the nod ofcourse.

What a worrying line up,

Do another lineup in a 4231.Do you think Jorginho will still be in it. Maybe in at the back next to Kante would be good.

I agree Matt, it isn't the most inspiring starting 11 but it is more or less what I'm expecting with the Transfer Ban and Injuries etc.

Hopefully We can be competitive and keep Our expectations somewhat in check.

Ironically this should be a Season of real positivity having being the best of the rest in the Prem, making two Finals, winning one and getting back into the Champions League under a progressive Head Coach with His first season at the Club under His belt. Instead We're facing a transfer ban and losing Our Gaffer and Star Man.

One things for sure, there's rarely a dull moment supporting the Chels lol.

Hey Chelsea4life,

I thought Jorginho could have played in a double pivot with Kante deeper alongside Him and in My mind atleast it made a lot of sense lol. One more the ball winner, the other more the deep lying playmaker.

I don't think We have a suitable number 10 in the squad though tbh, so maybe not the rite time.

A side should be flexible to a point though and having more options can only be a good thing.

Maybe it's something We'll get to see in time.

I think RLC is a natural number 10 but he is unlikely to be fit for the first game of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2019 01:13:24
you are thinking 4-3-3, who knows if the incoming manager will go with a 4-3-3 formation.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2019 11:20:49
I also think RLC will fit nice into the no 10 role. He has been aweso. e for us in the second half of the season. He must keep it up and be even better when he gets back. Im excited for CHO aswell.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2019 12:27:56
Not withstanding that Willian is in fact a #10, not a winger.

I would envisage that the forward line would consist of

RW Pulisic
CAM Willian
LW Pedro until CHO is fit
ST - Giroud/ Michy.

Anyone think these lineups with a ban would compete with arsenal spurs United Liverpool Man City and competition from a Leicester with Rogers and possibly a Settled Everton, we weren’t much better than arsenal and united and that was with hazard,

Apparently conte doesn't want icardi and will sell for funds, imagine Juve would be most realistic but if we can we should be in for him,

08 Jun 2019 17:03:25
Did I just imagine it or did someone mention that the guy was nothing but trouble?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is a problem, worse is his wife and agent Wanda Nara who will air all the club's dirty linen in public and constantly slag it off unless her every demand is met.}

08 Jun 2019 17:57:04
We get enough s••t from the press. So, not for me thanks!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2019 18:24:11
Agreed, we really do not need a trouble-maker in (and/ or outside! ) the dressing room.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2019 00:05:43
Yeah we don’t need anyone like that around the club.

Ed's what's the plan for Bakayoko. Will he return do you think or will he decide to move? Would not blame him if he didn't want to come back after the abuse he got.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, with Gattuso leaving it has left things up in the air at Milan.}

09 Jun 2019 01:18:35
Looks like Bakayoko will be be at Chelsea next season- based on recent comments from his agent. I don't know what that means with regards to Kovacic interest?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2019 00:21:28
That's what I was thinking! Thanks Ed!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - welcome, sorry I couldn't help.}

09 Jun 2019 12:29:40
Again, I would envisage that spending another €40m on say Kovacic would be money wasted when he can be directly replaced by Bakayoko, and used sparingly until the coach sees form that warrants a starting spot.

I saw on the European page that Madrid would be happy to sell Bale for 60 euros or even less. I would take him at that. Opinions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2019 15:30:32
Not for me thanks.

I think he would be overpriced at half that amount but it’s all about opinions!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2019 15:45:13
€60 Euros? He'll yeah i'll take that. Pay that and sell for €60m euros easily, think of the profit.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2019 18:07:30
With injuries, that'll work out at about 10m euros a game!

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jun 2019 23:45:14
Only way I would consider him is as a loan to allow the likes of Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic to develop. No way on earth I would pay a transfer fee and sign him to a long term contract considering his age and injury history.

08 Jun 2019 15:01:26
If Chelsea are banned from signing players this season, how does the money earned this season allow us to spend next year with regards to FFP?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2019 15:32:35
Too much to think about. I’m just a simple and very old supporter!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2019 18:09:19
It's a good point - if we're banned for 2 windows, next summer we should be able to spend in excess of £300m (including Hazard's fee) .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2019 11:16:12
But will we? I though FFP accounting was yearly?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2019 12:34:20
I see why the Ed's get annoyed. Quite simply the club would use the Hazard money to help amortize the other transfer fees and contracts for the 'years' ahead.

Hence why Chelsea were happy to take bonuses from the hazard deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2019 21:21:43
Yes, I suppose it depends on the structure of the deal. Sod it, I’ll just be optimistic and hope it means that the club can identify the best targets possible to fill any areas of need highlighted over the next year and then afford basically anything in a this season Madrid style spree.
I do love how you have thrown the term “amortize” into your totally condescending answer though, not really sure how the money would “help amortize” anything, seeing as amortisation is the process whereby players transfer fees and wages are spread over the length of the contract, but good for you using a big word!

Do any of the Ed's know what the plan for Lampety is he been with us since he was 7 looks to have a lot of speed and strength wouldn't mind him and Reece James being given a run in first team but I presume a loan first is the plan?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't sorry and James' injury will be the key factor in what happens to him.}

08 Jun 2019 12:14:50
Lampety looks a good prospect. Ridiculously quick but at this stage of his career maybe a bit lightweight and for that reason goes down a bit easily.

For me he needs a loan move.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you have plenty of options ahead of him as well. Oh and I mean James' injury would decide what will happen with James this season. Not meaning to suggest it would have any bearing on Lamptey if that is the way it reads.}

08 Jun 2019 13:51:41
6 weeks out apparently, will be back around pre season, so a lay off but not as bad as feared - the sun.

Great farewell post by Eden and I like others wish this Chelsea legend all the very best with his future, including scoring many more beautiful goals -- except of course if playing against us if we meet Real Madrid in the ECL next season (though we would give him a rousing welcome back to the Bridge)!

What I liked about the man, beyond his peerless footballing abilities, was that impish sense of humour and fun (often on display in post-match interviews), the fact that he seldom complained though probably fouled more than any other in the league, and his seemingly genuine modesty and delight for the success of team mates -- this could be compared to some other skilful greats in the game who I will not name but may have played for Real Madrid! .

Like TomB and perhaps a few others, I have been a CFC supporter for many decades and Eden was the most impressive player, purely in terms of hypnotic dribbling skills (with end products! ), I ever had the pleasure to see at the Bridge - and I've watched many over the years who were spell-binding at times if only most obviously Gianfranco Zola and Arjen Robben, right back to Pat Nevin and Charlie Cooke. (now that really dates me! ) . Such skills are reason enough on their own to pay money to watch a side, and we can only hope that the likes of CHO or Pulisic and hopefully others (brought through or bought) might in time attain something near a similar level (a dream if they could surpass it! ) .

So farewell Eden. Right now you seem irreplaceable, were simply the best. You will most certainly be hugely missed.

08 Jun 2019 11:21:00
Fantastic post JBS, Hazard is certainly up there with some of the best ever Chelsea Legends. Two more for your list would be The King and the one and only Jimmy Greaves.

There is NO feeling like walking into your home stadium and being so ridiculously excited to see one of your own players perform. Hazard was one of those players.

We have lost a special player and we now await another.

COME on MY MIGHTY BLUES.

08 Jun 2019 12:17:03
Thanks for your replies Jackson and TomB. Quite right TomB, not sure how I left The King off my list, he was extremely gifted and absolutely my boyhood hero! Unfortunately Jimmy Greaves had left the Bridge by the time I was got there for the first time. Yes, we await our next super hero, Come on the Might Blues indeed!

£32 million bought us an Eden Hazard. if its invested correctly you never know (ban permitted of course)

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jun 2019 00:14:36
If the ban doesn't. Get frozen then I think we will struggle big time 100 million will not buy you a another Eden Hazard it's as simple as that I like how we all want youth to play a part in our team yet the biggest team in the world in Real Madrid never do it lol money is everything these days not youth.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

08 Jun 2019 15:08:26
I share your opinion on this. It's surprising how even some fans have lowered their standard with Chelsea nowadays. Such obsession with playing the youth. It's good if we can get some talents integrated into the first team over time but we must not stop chasing and sustaining success to remain a big club.

To some, the ban is a blessing because it will give the youth opportunity and all that. It will take us years back. Not only is the ban bad for the club in many other ways but it is coming at the worst time for Chelsea. Losing our best players and potentially losing our coach. This is a time our rivals are getting stronger. And we hope to make the top four and win some odd trophies according to many posters. IMO now is the time to strengthen the spine of the squad with quality players and complement with the youth who actually take their chances (ban frozen) . Chances should be given on merit of performance and not an entitlement.

Again we quickly turn to accountants in rationalising the adequate amount spent or to be spent on players even when we know nothing about details. I'm not interested in how much the club spend so long as the players perform and help our course in becoming the best. After all we became a big club by signing best and quality over quantity as is the case now. Except we have given up in winning like Arsenal did with Wenger, we must attract and sign a few of world class players. Big clubs and players do not play in europa. No big club rely on the youth to win them trophies. They complement until they have earned their place.

I still cherish the good old days and I want it back or we continue the decline.

I seen a pic of a guy that used to be a GK at Chelsea a few years, this guy decided to leave through the back door (went AWOL) to sit on Real Madrid's bench.

I wonder if this guy still plays football these days, it's one thing playing for the best club in the world and its another thing just being a passenger Watching the world go by!

Either way this guy has taken a pic next to a Chelsea Legend in Eden Hazard who leaves the club through the front door with the utmost respect and love!
