I never react after a defeat and tend to watch the game again before making my mind up. I have concerns about Kepa but hope he will come good but feel maybe Willy needs a game. Start him against Lille? I also think Zouma is clumsy and his decision making and distribution is not good enouth at the elite level, Christensen has it all but is just so lightweight he also is not an elite level player. I hope Toni is back and Lamps brings back Tomorri who I do think could get to that elite level. Emerson should come back in for Azpi. Jorginho needs to come back in for his leadership and distribution to replace Mount and I think CHO needs a start ahead of Willian. My team v Lille.

Willy

James
Rudiger
Tomorri
Emerson

Kante
Jorginho
Kovacic

Pulisic
Tammy
CHO

Any constructive comments most welcome. You too ED01 please.

{Ed001's Note - aren't you already through? If I remember correctly you are, so in which case I would go pretty much the same but rest Kante and play Mount.}

It's really good that you have had time to reflect on the result before giving your opinion G8.

Your views are pretty much the exact same as mine and therefore my views after the game don't seem rash. I cannot disagree with any of the points you have suggested. My team vs Lille is the same. CHO deserves a chance from the start.

Ed1 we are still hanging by thread lol.

I think Kepa needs to be kept in, he needs to play himself out of his mistakes. Dropping him would only serve to crush his confidence even more.

I think if the club/ coach decide they have to drop him then that's a long term decision, which is a way off.

Really hope I'm wrong but if we sign Zaha and Ake in Chelsea the board and Marina have learnt nothing over the years. We've got youngsters who are perfect squad fillers. What we need now is world class players or will world class potential. We need to be aiming for the likes of Koulibaly, Chilwell and Sancho. I'd rather sign no one in January than more mediocrity. Not saying Ake and Zaha are average they're just no better than what we've got.

Zaha for me is better than what we have a minute better than Pedro more in form that Willian over the season more in form than cho who has disappointed for me, there’s only Pulisic that’s really stepped up but that’s dropped off so I think he would be a good signing not to bothered about ake has 1 good game in 10.

I agree he’s better than what we have in Willian and Pedro but for how much about 50 million? Why not just pay double for Sancho and then our wings are sorted for ten years with a world class player potentially.

Beside Sancho being English, I really don't rate him as many fans here but that may be me not seeing enough of him. I feel he's over hyped like many other English players Wilshere, Welbeck, Walcot, Barkley etc and we can get a more solid winger for the amount we are likely to pay for Sancho.

I would prefer Ziyach, spelling, or even other better wing players.
Again I think we need an imposing central midfielder to bring balance and steel. Jorginho divide opinions but I think he's deficient in big and fast games. Maybe smaller team where control the game. I would sell Barkley in addition to others already known to be on the exit.

So we need a CB, LB, midfielder, winger and striker who I expect to be starters maybe except for the striker. All ofcourse can't be done in the january window. I don't really know who fit the bills but IMO we have these needs. So your thoughts.

I agree about a midfielder where others rave over Jorginho. He’s a good player Jorginho but he won’t win ya titles. I’d really like us to go after Lisandro Martinez for defensive midfield from Ajax. Fast, technical, a brilliant tackler with tenacity and he scores headers from corners too. Apart from the goals he reminds me of a young Mascherano.

Jorginho won't win you titles cos he isn't playing in the team that suits his style of play, if he was in Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona or with Sarri, I bet you will see his phenomenal side that will win you trophies; Jorginho's quality is never in doubt for me cos I see it every day. We have a coach (in Lampard) that is still mastering/ learning (a philosophy, his players and tactics esp in big clashes) and I strongly think Lampard's relative inexperience is showing in the way the he picks his eleven, positions his players on the field of play and apply his players to get results. Don't be quick to judge Jorginho cos some weeks back he was showing every one his abilities.

@Obinna, nobody is saying he's not good but he appears a weak link in the midfield when we are being pressed by opposition with pace. You can see it in his yellow card because at best he commit a foul to stop an attack. He can be at his best when we are fully in control of the game. We need a player that can do what he does and add steel in protecting the back four like Essien did or even as Fabinho is doing.
Like someone said earlier, Havertz fits the bill and some other players of his ilk.

@FrankisKing, you have to remember the criteria which Chelsea seem to conduct transfer business nowadays. When they are in the market for a player, they do not engage in auctions and do not compete with others for signatures (rules out Sancho, Koulibaly and Chilwell immediately), they pay what they think is a fair price (not market rates and hence leaves you with B/ C list of players to go after) and like deals which are relatively straight forward to complete. So judging off that criteria, Aké and Zaha are not surprising in the slightest when they are put forward as the options they will be going after. Do they improve anything; as per your point? Absolutely not; but that is the way things are now with Chelsea as a club. No longer dining at the very top table.

i doubt zaha is an option given the valuation palace gave arsenal this summer. why sancho could be more of a do-able deal is his age
the board no a big signing will rarely lose value if they have youth on ther side.

I'll be really gutted if Loftus-Cheek doesn't return to his old form but I've always had my doubts about him with injuries. There isn't a lot of other midfielders who have his pace and power combined with technical skills.

Our midfield is stupidly lightweight as it is. Havertz is another quality all round player in his position with similar attributes but he's destined for Bayern unfortunately.

I really miss the days of Ballack, Essien and Lampard. Kovacic is evolving infront of our eyes into a world class player but we're still missing that power and height in our midfield.

not sure loftua cheek ever showed his full potential in a chelsea shirt due to constant injuries he always seemed lazy to me but it makes complete sense why he was obviously struggling constantly due to his back issues i would love nothing more dan to see his fully fit in full flow he'd be like yaya toure don't think wel ever see that do.

🎶🎵 Who’s that coming over the hill, is it United? Yes it’s United 🎵🎶.

I think the battle for 4th could get very interesting. Spurs will have a bounce with a new Manager, Arsenal might if they make a sensible appointment, you’ve looked good all season, and it looks like we might have finally woken up. Pretty sad that we both might be fighting for 4th, not like the old days eh?

It's TRUE that we have been dragged into this top 4 fight. At one point we seemed so far away from the chasing pack. But look we've had some bad results recently and we are expecting a few more. Utd and Spurs have definitely capitalised on our failures.

I think it’ll be close and agree, think United problem is that chelsea city spurs Leicester arsenal all played you they have a way of playing and with attack, which suits you, hence why v Newcastle and wolves etc teams like that don’t care about attractive football and will defend, so rashford and James and martial pace isn’t key with the space to run into, arsenal are so low I’m not overly worried with them, spurs will be very dangerous and once they stop the soft goals they’ll go in a big run,

I think it's going to be a good run in 4 teams going for 2 spots and city not going well peps 4th season again not going well
But I think spurs will finish above you.

The most injury ravaged season for some time and a transfer ban to deal with.

Rudi to come back and the team gradually bedding in.

A new face or two over January.

The second half of our season should be better than the first.

Good luck UTD. The longer you keep Ole the better for us all.

Harsh mate. We have been in such a mess we need to stick with someone. I get why everyone thinks he’s a clueless novice, we shall see. It seems the top 3 are pretty much sorted so it will be a dog fight for 4th. I actually think our best chance is via the Europa League, we do better against better teams.

These are the players who are consistently getting pelters from Chelsea fans on various platforms;

Maybe Frank needs to protect these guys a little bit more.

Mount (classed as a Lamp fav)
Azpi
Kepa
Zouma
Christensen

I don't see how Kepa doesn't start.
But with the other 4 he could opt for a 433 and rest them all.

Kepa, James, Rudiger, Tomori, Emerson, Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante, Willian, Pulisic, Abraham.

I think he should work on the above lineup going forward and see what happens in January.

I think zouma has been brilliant just the zouma - christensen partnership doesn’t work,

i wouldn't say mount has been getting any sort of pelters he's been fantastic so far.

08 Dec 2019 10:48:24
the other 4 have been inconsistant and i understand why fans have had a go i don't rate christensen too weak and not a leader in the backline azpis legs have faded drastically and zouma has also been good an bad and overly clumsy not consistant enough for us in my humble opinion. kepa well we could go on all day about him his arrogance was summed up in last season league cup final.
