Repeating myself, and others, in lead up to transfer deadline: proper/world class striker and holding/defensive (call it what you like) midfield is what we needed and still look as though we need.

You lot are hilarious. Your first team reads like a whos who of football and your subs bench is worth 130m yet you still moan that you need a holding midfielder. You have zero excuses for not winning any game. Yet you find one.

Perhaps we should have played our young players with mobility and eargerness to impress, This result and the previous results results including the two we won suggests that chelsea doesn't need the exprience players as the are called anymore. With azpi, luiz, cahill and ashly in defence mikel holding mid. Remires and oscar attacking mid hazard and mata/de bryne wing fowards, Torres striking, cech goalkeeper, we could have beaten them in excess of 3-4 goals

I definitely do not agree. We had a wealth of opportunities to score and we wasted them, that's not really Jose's fault. Everton had maybe 2 or 3 real chances and took 1 of them. Everton at home are always going to create some chances so we didn't give away much I think. It's a shame we couldn't put the chances away in the 1st half as I think we would have definitely won if we'd have gone in front.

On another note, I thought Mikel played with a little more attacking freedom and intent than normal. It was a bit refreshing to see because he's technically really sound.

On to the next one against Basel. We really need a positive result to start the European campaign and I fully believe we'll get it.

I have to say that I have never liked Mikel's play but noticed that against Everton he played far more positively, looked to play the ball forward instead of the usual backwards or sideways and seemed to have more freedom to actually play his game rather than the style that has maybe been required by recent managers. If this is the case then big cudos to Jose because he has never reproduced his international form for Chelsea. Maybe -at long last- we will see under Jose the reson why he has been kept when all in sundry on here-including me- wanted him gone.

I think today was just one of those days. 20-25 shots at goal but no reward.I thought eto played ok, he doesn't hold the ball up very well but his movement in the box is what we have been missing. When torres plays, a lot of the time he's out wide working hard instead of working inside the box. Mata played well with some great touches. Hazard worked his socks off and oscar looked good when he came on. The only problem I think we will have is the striker situation, as in previous seasons. Does anyone know why essien is not playing as he and van ginkel looked good preseason. For me I also think we are missing some steal in defensive midfield.We have to look at using luiz there as his pressence and passing ability is great.

Not happy with Jose. He should have kept Mata in. That's where most of the goals come from. And what is this obsession with Lampard? He should be steadily playing less nit more?

Agree but also were playing to our weaknesses not our strengths. Whereas can ginkel! I haven't seen mikel lampard or ramires a man of the match performance this season. Cole hasn't go started so where is Bertrand. He says these things like impress me but their is too many players who haven't so I don't get why they are still starting. I think his tactics are wrong. Too slow from midfield, mata hazard and co are all closed down too quick. It's predictable naive football. We need a shake up in the starting line up. Cole lamps need dropping. And from people slating Torres and etoo in sorry but when the midfield can't feed the 3 attackers quick enough with fullbacks staying back they ain't gunna get chances. Mourinho is slowly ruining mata, hazard, de bruyne, can ginkel. Our strong points are attack and keep possession but were not. Players will get fed up with this. Villa lucky, man united we were sat back and boring. And today. How can we be boring with the players we got?

We get rid of Malouda & kalou (wanted Mikel out too). Then you have Mikel playing with Eto'o. Lukaku must look at Eto & think you replaced me with that useless mouthy person. Got it wrong big time Jose, hope you have learned a big lesson today.

The difference between us and united and city: The ability to score a CHUFFING goal! Eto and Nando can't finish a happy meal between them. Were as Sherk and Rvp are eating cows for snacks. And that's the bottom line as to why it's going to be a close season, but I should imagine we may fall short unless our strikers find their dancing shoes and quick!

United went 180 minutes without scoring a goal and City drew 0 - 0 today and lost to Cardiff 2 weeks ago.

Yeah fair one, just very fustrating. When you dominate a game with that many chances, you should be walking away with a result.

I totally agree but we created some chances and I think eto is a better player than Ba. I can't think of a striker who is world class that is a viable purchase atm Falcao and Cavani both £50m or Jackson Martinez at £40m too much. Maybe we look at El Shaarawy next summer or an up and coming talent to pair with Lukaku

It doesn't matter what other teams have done. Urs the way were playing like we're scared to attack in the first half. If we're gunna defend don't play hazard oscars mata. Just a waste of their talents to play slow football.

Yeah El Sharwarey good be a good prospect. I would say even Benteke in January if his form continues. Maybe try using Ba in the deal. It's early days yet though.

To me mou. Is just trying to prove he's always right the reason he took Mata out is beyond me. The probkem is not our striker yeah torres can be better but honestly as a top team we don't give our strikers enough opprtunities disappointing really we haven't looked good all season. I know it mite be a bot to early to start complaining but just saying my mind. If we are going to win the league we have to up it. Please feel free to disagree.

I thought we played really well. Eto's movement was very good and had chances, we had the better possession, just one of those days. Everton defended very well and we lacked that cutting edge in the box.

Agreed PB, we had the chances and probably should have won. Or defence looked pretty good in general and we produced opportunities so I don't know why a lot of fans are slating Jose. It just didn't happen for us today.

Januzaj looking pretty good for united, I've got to admit. I was wondering whether we've got a young player who could play a similar role to Januzaj for us this season (getting a couple of cameos and starting some games in capital I cup). Perhaps Feruz could see some action as he was involved in the Asia tour.

Do you think Boga is as talented as Januzaj? I know he can dribble with the best of 'em but I don't know a lot more about him apart from that. I hope he makes it in the 1st team and Feruz as well. A future strike partnership of Lukaku and Feruz could be fun to watch
