Fair play to Liverpool. An example of everything done right from the board to the manager. Great signings, great scouting and great management/ integration of young players. Very jealous of liverpool right now and embarrassed that we are 20 points behind them in the league. 20.

Jürgen Klopp is a super hero. The passion that Liverpool plays with is what excites me since Klopp took over. The manager is tactically sound and balanced. Klopp is very much in control of the team and the players don't whine (they just work hard in every game) . Good luck to Liverpool, I want them to win the Champions league cos they deserve to win something big (both the players and manager are hungry for success) .
I remember Klopp's first season, Liverpool played the Europa final and lost to Sevilla. I wish Sarri will lead us to Europa glory and start something at Chelsea just like Klopp is doing at Liverpool.

That performance is what makes young football fans start supporting a club.

From your comment TomB, football is the same everywhere on earth. You need to see the kind of support that some young football fans (even Chelsea, Arsenal, ManUnited etc. all had sympathy for Liverpool last Night against Barcelona) drummed for Liverpool yesterday in Nigeria where I live. It was like we (Nigeria) won the FIFA world cup. Looking at them, you can't help but admire Liverpool's feat yesterday.

Well done to the team the manager and his staff in achieving a Champions League spot. We can now look forward to hearing that wonderful anthem on Tuesday's and Wednesday's next season.

I made it very clear that I did not want Sarri as our manager but I have supported him and certain criticised players throughout the season. I now hope he stays as our manager next season, as I crave stability for our club.

IMO we (regardless of our transfer ban) will not be signing a significant amount of players this window.

We will be signing a recognised goal scorer.

Also, I would like to say than you to Garry Cahill for his wonderful contribution to our clubs success.

Finally Eden, if you are leaving, you go with my best wishes and gratitude for the joy you have brought me and every other Chelsea fan over the last few years. Good luck in the future, you are a club legend.

Leading the team to top four, and winning the Europa League, would certainly make it slightly harsh to sack Sarri.

I share your desire for consistency, but the Roma story has been released by the Telegraph who are about as reliable as the British football press can be - and Conte has confirmed he turned down the job.

Sarri opting to move to Roma seems like too good an opportunity for all involved for this to just be a case of smoke without fire.

Hopefully Cech is announced in his new role soon, and he can start to add the foundations for some consistency.

Hi Ed002 - this is predicated on the notion the ban is squashed or delayed, so without going into specifics on player names, are you able to give us any indication of the scope of changes Chelsea will look to make this summer (numbers if not positions but I'll push my luck and ask for those too! )

Also as a secondary, is it a bit simplistic to think Chelsea would.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are looking to make a number of changes this summer including trying to integrate some of the younger loaners in to the squad. But there will be plenty more players leaving.}

07 May 2019 21:09:33
Great to hear that Ed. It'll be great if the deadwood in the team will be replaced by the youth instead of buying replacements of our own. Hopefully that'll mean we can spend more to go for top level players to surround them. Excited to see what happens in the summer especially if the ban is frozen.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is no deadwood.}

07 May 2019 22:29:30
I agree with Ed002 on this. Calling any player deadwood is highly disrespectful. Any player wearing our jerseys and playing for the badge, should never ever be referred to as deadwood, regardless of whether you like the player (s) or nor, or whether you believe they are good enough or not. We should support any and all players at Chelsea period.

Dasilva, James, maybe Tomori, Zouma, and Mount would be good.

Dazza, I'd say following could definitely play for us:

Mount, James, Tomori/ Zouma (don't think there's space for both of them to return, unless Ampadu is viewed as a midfielder), Abraham and Aina (if he's willing to stay as Torino do have the buy option) . Also of course Pulisic coming back from loan.
Aina would be for left back, but he's played there a lot for Torino this season so should be perfectly fine.

Having those guys back would give us free replacements for Cahill, Luiz, Kovacic, Higuain, Zappacosta, Pedro/ Willian and Emerson (if Reports about him leaving are true) .

Then we can just use our money to spend on a few key acquisitions (top striker, and perhaps a rotational mid for Jorginho and Kante) . Maybe also a replacement for Eden, depending on what happens with Pedro and Willian.
I'd go with Callum, Pulisic, Willian/ Pedro and Eden/ replacement of possible next season. Mount can cover in attack as well while Callum is recovering from his injury.

So all in all I think we only need to buy 2 or maybe 3 players. If we use the young guys we can have a really strong squad with just a few key acquisitions.

{Ed002's Note - You are living in a fantasy world.}

Too much change probably in 1 transfer window. However I don't doubt that those loanees could perform for us and do well.
So maybe I am. Probably even.

But at least it's a happy place :) what's life without a little fantasy to take you away from cold reality.

Ed I was wondering why all of a sudden, we seem to have actually begun using some of our youth players and putting more trust in them? Are they simply regarded as better players, is it because of Sarri being more willing, is it a strategical change from the top of the club or what? I suppose it's probably a mixture, but I was just wondering if there is any significant change to the way it's previously been? :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you are referring to. This was always the plan.}

Ed two questions,

with us in top 4 now, does this mean sarri will be definately staying now?

And any truth to reports we've been scouting thiago mendes and could make a move?

Thanks alot.

Just out of curiousity is there still a qualifier we have to play if we finish 4th or are we straight in the draw? I'm not sure if the rules have changed.

Just thinking if we don't have to play a qualifier we can rest our starting XI against Leicester. Caballero, Zappacosta, Cahill, Ampadu, Alonso, Barkley should all start if were straight in the draw. Moses and Drinkwater should start as part of a farewell. Hopefully see some of the other younger ones like Redan and Mceachran play as well.

We still need to win the Europa to get Sarri a winning mentality. If we lose doubts will still be there. So we need to rest the likes of Luiz, Hazard, RLC, Azpi and Jorginho if we can.

We're straight in the draw, doesn't matter what happens now we're guaranteed Champions league football next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2019 09:17:03
Yes, we are guaranteed Champion's League football, but not straight into group stages I reckon. Perhaps this has changed, but I think that the team finishing 4th has to play the extra'play-off' game before entering the group stage, and only if we finish third do we go straight into the group stage. Can anyone else confirm this though (eg one of the eds perhaps)?

I think 4th position in England takes you straight through to the group stages now but I may well be wrong!

07 May 2019 13:29:26
If we finish 4th (not being negative but I don't see us beating Leicester away) does that mean we'll be in pot 4 and have a hard draw? Or us previously doing well in Europe will that propel us to say pot 2?

What a weekend! Top 4 secured. Chance after chance and at times it looked like we blew it. Brilliant, Sarri pre season. Invest ( if not banned ) Pulisic already in, praying hazard wants to stay, what a day. ! Champions league football back, now concentrate on Europa and we can finish with a better season than all of them except winners of the league! What a rollacosster season .

Could finish 3rd
League Cup final got beat on pens by best team in league at the minute
Could be heading to a europa league final all with a mish mash team for the manager
All you doubters out there who's sarri now
Well done mate I would of taken that at beginning of the season.
