Just my option but if Chelsea can't seem to persuade pep, Jose or I think klopp to be our next manager, I'd personally keep n trust raft.

Just my option, don't really see anyone else out there ATM!

Wheelycfc

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Agree I'd prefer him to pep Klopp has done wonders with that team and he plays the same 4-2-3-1 system we do which would help us alot

CfcBenWxm

Agree4 Disagree1

Now tell me - how often do you see German internationals or their managers leaving Bundesliga?

Yes - Ballack, Oezil, Khedira. But that is just as often as English internationals move abroad in their primes.

Do you guys realize that Dortmund are challenging for Bundesliga every year and this term advanced to the latter stages of CL at the expense of Man City and Ajax.

This is a team which averages over 80.000 fans for home games. That is second highest attendance in the world. Second to Barca, only. They aren't just some small potatoes.

And - no matter how you lot may see this - but for Jurgen Klopp a move to Chelsea isn't exactly a move up.

JG

Agree6 Disagree2

Last part of that post was rubbish, Manu doesn't get 80,000 either but if you put their or our crest or logo next to B.dorm's and take it around the world I guarantee you it wouldn't even be 2 to 1 close which team is more recognized as a big football club. Most people couldn't even tell you what country they play in.

Agree1 Disagree1

Let's split hairs. United get 77000 for every game and is the most / second most supported cub in the world...as well as being the richest (generates the most revenue). Oh, and we also have a rich history...not one that started when the Russians moved in.

AJH

Agree1 Disagree1

Can'thelp if you're missing the whole point. Whichcurrent German internationals are playing outside Germany, aside from Oezil and Khedira?

Bundesliga has the highest average attendance in theworld. Klopp has got an incredible team. He's winning with the team he assembled. They are playing fantastic football.

Now what does Chelsea offer that he does not have?

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Klopp go to Chelsea when he's currently in a Champions League team?

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea offers a new challenge, a beautiful city, bigger transfer budget etc...

MB

Agree0 Disagree0

Bigger club, much bigger international fan base.. end of

With Cavani and Fellaini we'd be unstoppable. Cavani's bid was rejected. Fair. But what is keeping us from bidding for Fellaini is beyond me.

JG

Believable5 Unbelievable9

What kind of person can actually press "disagree"? A scouser fan?

JG {Ed001's Note - maybe, like a lot of people, someone who doesn't rate Fellaini as anything other than a big lump with vicious elbows to hoof the ball up to. You do realise some of us see he is not very good on the ball don't you? He is not what Chelsea need at all.}

Agree2 Disagree3

Totally agree with ed001. don't think we need fellaini at all. not the type of player we need.

Agree4 Disagree2

Oh really? Wow. Ok. Considering we are shortest, lightest and almost youngest team in EPL - tell me then - who is it exactly that we need then.

JG

Agree2 Disagree2

We could always buy 11 big, strong players and play like stoke JG? Or we can continue to transition into a team that plays possession football, with intelligent attacking players. You want Fellani for the 'pivot' but he wouldn't fix a whole at all. He is an attacking played that can play deep as well. His instinct is to move forward when his team have the ball. As he did with Everton when played there, and did it well for the two seasons prior to now.

We don't need a deep lying midfielder that can get forward well. We need a creative deep midfielder that can break up attacks, protect the back four, and pick 40 yard pass at will. Romeu is this breed of 'Alonso' type player, and of developed well can be the perfect answer. In the short term I would look to Vidal or Javi Martinez, and neither are available.

If we play Luiz there, we are short at centre half. If he, Ivan or Cahill gets injured while Terry is out, what do we do?

Melbourne CFC

Agree5 Disagree2

Melbourne, with all due respect - please take a look at Luiz completion percentages in these last 4 games. They are a touch over 80%. Which is way worse than Mikel. I just can't help, because like most CFC fans i love Luiz and don't really rate Mikel.

Mikel can't score if his life depended on it. And is not suited to the possesion football at all. Luiz is way better at it, but - his shot selection and delivery from open play are nowhere even close to being satisfactory.

Look at our corners delivery and goalkeeper delivery. We are too short, too slim, too petite in general for the close to 50 games we play against English opposition in EPL and cups. We loose almost all the balls from a goalkeeper delivery and we can't exactly play this possession football you talk about with no necessery ingredients.

We are no Barca. We don't get any favoritism from refs. It's a completely different football, than it is in Spain. Look at how much physicality it is allowed in EPL. Flair players are not given any priviledges. You guys got to understand that this is the tradition of English football.

We aren't exactly darlings of FA, let alone UEFA. And this "Barca in blue" is a complete nonsense.

Nowhere did i say 11 big guys like Stoke. What i said all the way here is we lack ballance. We lack big bodies. Because it disrupts the flow of the game. I'm very happy with the purchase of Ba, because it gives us a big body up front. And it instantly shows.

Do not stick to a certain formation. 4-2-3-1, "pivot" all that media crap. Fellaini offers us different options. A long ball to target to? Yes. A second striker? Yes. A midfield presence? Yes. Do we have anyone like that in our team? No.

And if we add another Taison or Isco, they don't offer anything different to what we have already.

JG

Agree1 Disagree3

08 Jan 2013 17:26:28
Tottaly agree JG......I think Fellaini would fit in perfectly! He is NOT just a "hoof the ball up to player" his passing and awareness of other players is very good also. DJ

Agree0 Disagree1

We have no problem dealing with the physicality of the prem JG. Correct me If I'm wrong but I don't think we have conceded a single goal from a corner in the prem this season.
MB

Agree6 Disagree0

Wot is JG on about, at the start of the year when we were winning 9 of 10 it wasn't a problem. Also Arsenal has been successfull in the EPL with ball control and smaller skilled players. We have size where it matters in defense which is what let us down during our 7 match winless slide(along with Torres missing sitters), some of which was on RDM with the way he set up the defensive shape or chose to sit back at times. The only real complaint you can make is that were missing true wingers and at times play too narrow along with the fact that Torres play smaller than he actually is but with Ba and Luiz in mid I think we have good balance.

And comparing Mikels passing stats when 80% are 5 yard sideway passes to Luiz who always looks to go frwd and challenge defenses. Since he's been in midfield Luiz has made at least 2 outstanding long passes that led directly to goals..fact.

Agree1 Disagree0

We are winning 6-8 games at the start of almost every year. Comparisons to Arsenal are hilarious. That's unless you are ok without challenging for the title.

Look at what Yaya brings to Man City's game, look at what Maka or Ballack meant to our title winning sides, or Vieira to Arsenal. It's too much fuss to go on. Just wait for Stoke game and then we talk.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Because last time Fellani turned out against Stoke it went so well for the lad, didn't it.

I agree that Fellani would give us a lot of options but once again he is not filling the hole that we need filled. We don't need him to play behind the striker, or as a second striker. We need a striker to play as a striker.

We need a player that can play with the ball at his feet, that can pick a pass and protect the back 4. In my opinion Fellani is not that player. Although he would add just much needed height and strength to our squad, he isn't what we need as a first teamer.

You are arguing we should buy him and slot him straight into the strongest XI aren't you?

Melbourne CFC

Agree0 Disagree0

What i am saying is that a well balanced and assembled team of the quality that CFC is aiming at should have enough quality to overcome some 70-75% of opposition.

The rest 30-25% are the games that do no go as planned. These are the games that define champions. These are the games that makes the difference between the fourth and the first.

Take the best examples of management of a professional club. Say Mourinho. At this current CFC set up - who do you bring off the bench to change the game? Do we have options to change the formation?

I am not talking about taking off Mata and bringing in Oscar. I'm talking about the game changing abilities. Say you have Fellaini playing at the 2 of a 4-3-2-1. We are playing the likes of QPR or Fulham which offer close to no threat, but our tiny possession football does not result in neither chances created, nor converted.

That is when you can switch the likes of Fellaini to play upfront, switch Mata to the wing and lob those balls at Fellaini to make the play at the edge of the area. We have no bodies to play with their back to net. Players who other us different options. That is the key to winning the tough games of those 25% which don't go as planned.

And i am not saying that Fellaini is the only option available in the world football. But when i read the names associated with our possible interest and look at their game - i see nothing different to what we have.

JG

Agree1 Disagree1

Might as well get Wanyama then....

Am I the only one who thinks that we don't need another attacking mid. Our needs are a good tackling holding mid to alternate with Luiz(with Mikel gone for a while) and look to sign a lb replacement for a.Cole if we won't resign him. And if Terry is also leaving we need another experienced cb to rotate as well.

Subotic for terry, and fellani in add falcao I I believe we become an awesome team can't see us not wining the league with this team, and at least champ league semi most seasons, would love it !!

Ed,
Do you think that we will be able to wrap up the siging of Taison quickly or is this going to be a long transfer that takes the entire window to complete?
Thanks {Ed018's Note - kind of hard to answer that. There's a good chance a deal will be completed but I can't give a time frame}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Ed018 and your OPINION on the player,, ? {Ed018's Note - don't have much of one as I have not seen much of him. Maybe some other people can chime in if they have seen him play}

I am suprised that little or no comment from anyone with regard to the possibilty that come the end of season Peter Chec may well be on his out with rumours appearing to link him with Real and a fee in excess of 25 million being suggested.

Now no doubt like my first response was nah cant, wont, never but then I started to think about it a little more and wonder if there might be some legs in this rumour quite simply we already have a replacement who is performing to the highest level in Spain so in reality such a player sale could make very very good business sense.
Thoughts anyone?

Terraloon

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Would not suprise me....

Agree0 Disagree0

For 25mil i would throw him out the door now..

Agree4 Disagree1

25m for Cech...... I'd get cortiuos to be under study to Cech for a year then let Cech leave,, still a top keeper

Agree3 Disagree0

25 million id snap thier hand off!

kevinCFC

Agree5 Disagree2

Rubbish idea Cech is proven in the perm just look at the trouble united have had trying to find a top keeper, if you let Cech go then your going to need to sign possible another 2 keepers unless of course you want to be in the same boat as this season with turnball. We need to get back to the situation when we had 2 quality keepers push for the number 1 slot.

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree fully that we need a top quality number two and as has been suggested on here both Hilario & Turnball will probably be off when their contracts are up at the end of the season.
Cech is still top class and thats no doubt why Real are supposed to be looking at him and why the transfer fee being talked about is so high
This season Courtois is getting rave reviews in Spain just as he did last year. I very muh doubt he will come back as number 2 keeper
As for not havimg EPL experience well good point but nor did Cech or indeed the vast bulk of the top quality keepers now playing in the EPL.
Terraloon

Agree1 Disagree0

Just one final though as it seems that in the 65 games that Coutois has played for A Madrid he has kept 29 clean sheets.
Terraloon

Agree3 Disagree0

Why not involve Cech in the Falcao deal, they need a GK as Courtois is back next season i believe.

My wishlist (this transfer window and summer window):
1. Falcao
2. Neymar (very wishful thinking)
3. Walcott
4. Fellaini
5. Fabio Coentrao

Just my personal opinion. I rate all these players very highly and hopefully we can snap up a few of them.

Let me know your thoughts guys. Like to know who you wish Chelsea would sign

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Falcao but will wait til summer
Isco not if we sign taison
Baines very doubtful
Walcott agsin doubtful
I'd love these but doubtful

Taison not good enough and worst thing is that it will end interest in a real talent in isco,, gutted., Mattm

Believable5 Unbelievable2

At first I would have agreed but having seen some of his goals in Brazil on youtube I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, he makes excellent runs from deep and has a nice habit of getting on the end of cuts backs and loose balls, not too disimilar to a certain legend of ours Mr lampard.
Not saying he his a replacement for Lamps or as good but take a look and you may be surprised.

Agree0 Disagree1

Everyone looks good on you tube

Even Saloman Kalou used to look good on You tube

CfcBenWxm

Oscar is the new Lampard,,

Agree2 Disagree0

No one can replace Lamps...!

MB

Agree8 Disagree1

Well MB, perhaps not in your heart, but we need to find a replacement on the pitch if he will be gone come summer. BTW Matt is gutted we may be signing Taison but has over rated and overpriced Walcott, who imo will not get any better than he is now, on his wish list.

Just a thought.

Cech
Aziplicta Ivanovic Cahill Cole
Luiz Oscar

Mata
Hazard Isco(If we sign)
Ba

Perhaps in the Summer Bring Cavani/Falcoa etc, and interchange hazard/isco with either Marin or Moses and Lamps, Ramires or KDB with Oscar and Luiz, to rotate the team, Give Betrand the odd game in place of cole and the same for courtois and cech, and finally give the likes of Ake, Wallace, Piazon, Chaloboah etc. the odd game( against weaker teams)or loan them out - Just a thought?

If isco hadnt been mentioned, i think more people would be pleased about taison

I think taison is a good signing; I think he will help oscar settle more, plus he is not too expensive and will probably be happy enough being a squad player allowing us to rest hazard oscar and mata from time to time.

I don't think Isco will arrive in January but I also don't think the Taison signing prevents Isco coming in the summer.

Give the guy a chance and Roman benefit of the doubt.

Liverpool fan here...just wondering what all you Chelsea fans are thinking of Rafa and Torres?

We all know you didn't take to Rafa at first, have those thoughts changed?

What about Torres?

Thanks

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I'm worried the rafa effect will wear off Torres and he will go back to his mis firing self,, I hope he doesn't as I'm one who still believes in him just can't help worry and feel for the guy,

Agree3 Disagree2

I think torres will play well now, genuinely. at the start of the season he was playing well but it seems to have faded and i think because hes played too many games. with ba, torres can get a rest and be fresher for games

Agree0 Disagree1

But if/when Ba is a Irving and then what.. Torres will sulk if not number one, be nice if they could play together, I do love Torres thou,, 1 more striker and we can actual rival Manchester clubs..

Agree0 Disagree1

Liverpool fan again...I honestly think Ba, if he stays injury free, could be a quality signing for you lot!... Can't believe I'm saying this after our recent rivalry but I would be happy if you won the league...anyone but Man you eh?

Agree5 Disagree1

07 Jan 2013 12:53:57
Ed, current Lampard hyperbole aside, the deeper midfield area is looking somewhat threadbare right now - are the club actively looking towards this area in the winter window? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea where that area is.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

The two holding midfield positions. the 2 in the 4-2-3-1 formation chelsea play. as it stands we have rami, lamps, luiz, mikel and romeu. but with romeu injured, mikel at acon and lamps off soon, its beginning to look bare. i know people are saying oscar can play there but he seems to slight to be a defensive presence. are we looking at any defensive midfielders?

Agree3 Disagree0

Oscar is a lot more rugged than he looks. Teams have tried to muscle him off the ball regularly, and he's not afraid to give as good as he gets.
