Just wondering what everybodys thoughts where on a possible Europa league place for next season. I personally would hope we do not get Europa league football as it damages teams performances in domestic competitions.

If mourinho is still in charge, no chance the youngsters get games. even in Europa.

Tbh I had actually thought about us dropping into the Europa league this year being our best bet at a CL place. Whilst on the one hand I do think it's a distraction we could do without next year, I also think it could be our safety net should we fail to get back to our best next year. Plus whilst English clubs don't have a high view of the Europa league, most european countries and players do, so it could help when it comes to recruitment in the summer, as players might be willing to accept a year out of CL as long as they were still playing in the Europa league?

So many people want Jose sacked. But who else out there would want the job? And who is good enough if Jose isn't? Some "fans" need a reality check. Look at the players rather then the manager. They're the ones who cross the white line at the end of the day. They are the ones who can put the ball in the net and keep it out of ours. They are the ones who need to play with heart and desire. Only so much a manager can do. He's changed the side, dropped players, criticised players, praised them. What more can he do?

Pick a team that isn't negative? End of the day CFCAdam he picks the side mate. If he can't see that Cesc Fabregas is having a nightmare season then he shouldn't be anywhere near a football management position. Some of the mistakes Mourinho is making is blatently obvious! I'm a massive fan, love the bloke, but he has no idea how to change it around.
Combine that with the boring, negative, 1 dimensional football we play tells me it's time to go. As much as I dislike the bloke, we even played better football under Rafa Benitez!
You can't defend the fact Jose seems to have lost the plot. When you can give me a reason why anyone would drop our best full back, keep a talented young midfielder who's capable of dominating a midfield on the bench whilst an overpaid player who can barely run gets in ahead of him then I might consider backing your opinion, but unfortunately I can't see any way he can change this around.

Agreed Chelsea Nick - I believe many of our problems would end simply by replacing Fabregas with RLC - Fabregas has not played well since before last Christmas - I would back my arthritic granny in a foot race against Fab! Doesn't Mourinho have access to Opta stats? He must have noticed the number of misplaced passes by Fabregas. And Fabregas in the team makes Matic's job virtually impossible - poor Matic is dioing the work of two! If Mourinho continues to pick Fabregas then he has to go.

Didn't hear you moaning last season when we won the league. Same players, same manager, same tactics.

Cesar? Watch the bloke properly. He's been caught out of position a number of times this year. Same as Ivan was last season. Playing too far up. As with RLC. Why do you want 2 defensive midfielders? I thought you wanted attacking football. Which one is it to be? We lack goals mate, need players to create. We lack that spark. That magical player like hazard last season. That's our main issue. All too scared to shot also.

He's dropped players, but not the right ones.

Look how long it took him to drop Costa. He still hasn't dropped Fabregas or Ivanovic.

Kenedy and Traore, extremely talented attackers, have got minimal chances, most of those chances coming in left back.

Why isn't RLC in the team? i'm not saying he's our savour but where is his chance?

This is not a defensive team. We shouldn't be playing defensive football.

Massive Mourinho fan, but he isn't getting it right at the moment. I don't care about stability, I want to beat Bournemouth at home. End of.

Drop Costa for whom? Remy - a bit part player at best or Falcao - a player whose best games are well and truly behind him?

Fabregas - who comes in? RLC!?! Every one on here raving about his kid, if he was THAT good do you not think he'd be in the team ages ago? Are you the same fans who wanted Josh McEachran to play every game too? He did well with his career to date hasn't he?

Kenedy and Traore - very good players going forward. Not so coming back. Jose had the same pop at Hazard for not putting a defensive shift in too.

We're not playing defensive football at all - not with a front 4 of Oscar, Willian, Hazard and Fabregas but 3/4 of those players are not playing to the best of their ability. The thing we lacked against B-mouth was having someone who wasn't afraid of shooting and someone willing to take a chance and having a go. We also badly miss an out and out striker. Some one who will stay in the box and be in the box when one of our wingers has the ball. Costa doesn't give you that neither this season. We need a proper forward.

Sorry CFCAdam I stopped reading when you referred to Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a "defensive midfielder". Stop talking garbage mate. He's got Bayern and Real Madrid watching his contract situation, clearly they think he's talented, and let's be honest, he'd be playing in any other team in the country! Face facts, Mourinho has ZERO INTEREST in bringing any youngsters through! We have the best academy in the country, we've won pretty much every youth competition going lately, yet how many is he willing to give chances to - ZERO! As someone who doesn't miss a Chelsea game and even watches the U21 matches, I don't think you have the right to question me as a fan. As someone who's played at a decent level too I think tactically I'm reasonably aware. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with the way Cesar Azpilicueta is playing, he's consistently one of our best players, and don't forget he's actually playing on his wrong foot every game - if we actually bought a good left back (oh yeah I forgot we had one in Ryan Bertrand but Jose sold him) then he could play in his proper position!

Have to agree with you CNick, even when Jose has dropped certain players he has done so against much lesser competition such as Tel Aviv so he's able to say so and so played well but against who. I also agree that Dave is a top 5 fullback on the world on either side. To Adams point about last season, after Jan we were not the best team in the Epl and coasted based on an early lead gained by playing attacking football (ironic) . Bottom line is that, like some, I don't feel that Jose and these players, who I feel are good enough to win, are connected which means they all need to go or he needs to go.

By the way, I'll go to my grave believing that we should have won the league in Jose's first year of it wasn't for him being who he is and giving away early points for example at united in that no striker shambles match after Everton and Swansea had won comfortably there. That combined with selling Lukaku, which I don't think any other Chelsea manager in the RA era would done in favor of playing Torres, Denna Ba and old man Eto. He has a habit, whether intentional or not, of managing as if he doesn't trust his players which often seems to affect the way they play and results.

Totally agree with chelsea nick. It has become apparent Jose will not play youth, well when I say youth, we are talking about 20-21 year olds.
We are sniffing around the likes of stones and Colman and others. All of whom were given chances at a young age.
We have players who are performing well on loan, Christianson and ake to name two. Who would be better than what's out there. We have others like baker, musonda, aina, the list goes on. We keep getting them to sign new contracts. Either play them or sell them, these kids deserve better than waiting on empty promises about having a future at the club.
The time has come to stop this farce get rid of the dead wood and trouble makers ( fabregas, costa, Oscar and ivanovic) anyone who can't see costa is a liability needs there heads testing.
Lets really bring some of our own youth through it cannot be worse than he garbage we have endured this season.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - You should start your posts with the words "Speaking from a position of complete ignorance ..." - how old are Zouma, Baba Rahman, Traore, Kenedy? Players like Musonda are not even close to being ready at this time - and he comes with baggage.}

08 Dec 2015 00:08:33
I'm sure most Chelsea fans feel the same, is not that we don't play young players, we have plenty, but the fact that these players are all players who have had seasons under their belt already. Zouma had a full season in France, Kenedy Brazil, Rahman Germany etc.

Our problem with the youth, is the fact that they don't get chances, for a run in the team. I'm not saying RLC is better than Fabregas, far from it. But Fabregas clearly isn't playing at the required level, why not drop him for RLC, Ake, see what they can do? It's the false promises, no chances, 'academy day' and many other negatives that we Chelsea fans have a problem with.
