Don't get me wrong, but I must admit that I am impressed what Martinez and Rodgers did last season with relatively average squads. They've had far weaker squads compared to Man.City, MU, Arsenal or Chelsea and they ended up second and fifth. Amazing job done.
I hope JM.will get the right system especially against lesser teams which was the biggest Chelsea problem last season. With given players 433 is probably the best solution. Also I have to admit that I am a bit scared after I've seen MU playing under LVG. Quite impressive.

I think that over the course of the season we will become far to strong for anyone else out there, man u will be better than last season [but that won't be hard] and Everton and Liverpool won't be problems for us. All wrapped up with three games to go I predict!

Chn, there are teams out there that are ready to fill the void left by any of the top 5. Moreso, they will not be in several cup competitions and as such have a better advantage to suceed in the league. Liverpool did not play in the Champ. Lge last season and so was Everton. Also, limelight and pressure is not always the same as you have them on top 5 in Premiership. No-one would consider 15-goal striker of a big club as top notch, whereas it is a good season with smaller clubs. Weight factors are never the same with top and average club.

I do believe that this seasn will be even more interesting than last one sadly I see man u coming back to top 4 this season. But I think if you can call any seasons the most unpredictable one it has to be this one

Agree0 Disagree0

I think man city are going to be strong & quick this year as will Liverpool! We have a stronger squad than Liverpool, United & arsenal. Even if we put out our best 11 the bench looks just as good & I haven't seen that in a few years

5th for Chelsea, . don't expect anything better with Borinho there.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - clueless}

5th? we finished 3rd without a striker scoring more than 10 PL goals (i think) and have strengthened our midfield with Fabregas. Add to that Willian, Matic and Schurrle are now more settled and Hazard and Oscar are also likely to improve naturally with age. I don't see how we would go backwards. Didn't lose to a team in the top 6 let year either. If we work out a way to break down teams that sit deep we will walk it.

We will see who's clueless @ the end of the season - the Chelsea fans as usual! City, Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool will be up there. U lot will have to be fighting for 5th with Everton and Spurs.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - whatever you say. Now get back to your own page}

Lol what a joker. He knows nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

Why come on here and call our Ed clueless? Liverpool won't finish in the top four, fact! Last season they only had the EPL to deal with. This season they've sold their star man and are going to have mid week football. All the have done is buy average players at best. They will not get out the group stages of the CL and finish outside the top four. Arsenal will be short at the back after selling their best CB. And united need to make improvements. I see it as a two horse race, which we will win. So bore off big lad!

Agree0 Disagree0

See you! U tell him.ed018!

U watching the game mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - yes}

Some people can't stand the fact that Cesc and D.Costa are Chelsea players now and the fact that Chelsea has one of the best squads in Europe. For god sake why do you come to Chelsea banter page if you are not Chelsea fan? So immature.

PSG pull out of di Maria, probably until they sell a player or two,
What do people on here think of do Maria, no rumours etc just general discussion?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he's a very good player, probably Real's best in the final. He seems to have a good attitude too not complaining about being shifted from a winger to part of a midfield 3 by Ancelotti. I can't really see why they're so keen to sell him. I don't think he'll leave though as apparently his wage demand is high.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he was the one who asked to be put on the transferlist. Apparently he was dissapointed that the club bought James Rodriguez.

Agree0 Disagree0

I suppose that's understandable, they bought Bale to replace him last year and he fought for his place. Now they've bought Rodriguez making him second choice again. Must be annoying. Why is it that the transfer seems to break down due to wage demands then? I'd presume he'd lower them slightly in order to leave. Maybe it is Madrid asking for a high fee though.

Agree0 Disagree0

DiMaria is the player we really need. He would be addition in range of Fabregas.Ready to use.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2014 19:20:11
I always rated Di Maria highly, and when we were linked with him (couple of seasons ago if I remember) I felt we were getting him and jumped from my seat. Not going to much from the topic I do believe he is underrated and would be really sick addition to our squad (not going to happen) or any other team

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a feeling that if JM signs anyone at the last minute it will be DiMaria. His player just waiting last minute when price drops.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2014 11:40:39
I personally can't stand the way Di Maria goes down feigning injury about 33423 times in a match. No doubting his dribbling capabilities but if he came to Chelsea I wouldn't want him doing that in the premier league!

2 rumour posts in last 7 days. This website is a shadow of it's former self without ed002 input. Could you just email members if ed002 returns as checking this site is almost pointless now. I am really sad as other clubs pages are still going strong and it is because of the personic few that we are now all being punished!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed008's Note - But if you the posters aren't sending them in how are myself and Ed018 supposed to reply? Your fixed on the idea of Ed002 too much with his information when he returns he will do it on his terms, theirs 2 other Eds on this page aswell you know..

Hey lads please give some respect to remaining eds. We chelsea fans can have some discussions which can keep us and readers enterntained

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed008's Note - Exactly!

LRDlt is right. It's up to us to keep it going. There are lots of posters on here who post some great stuff Jackson, matt, Steve, Andrew, woody, Wheely, chn, Sid, Blueboy, Aron, Fuser, Lampsy just off the top of my head and we can really make it fun and lively on here not to mention the fact that we are looking at what might be an exciting season.

Also we have Ed018 who gives his views on not just transfers but footballing matters and ED008 who has also made things a little less stiff with his replies. Yeah we miss Ed002 but the site isn't asked002.com and I'm positive he'll return before the window shuts (my sources tell me:) So let's make it happen .

P.S. we still want Pogba. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed008's Note - I want Pogba too!!!

Must admit I don't always come on the website to ask ed002 stuff. I think I've asked him one or two questions in the past 3-4 years I've been using the site. I like coming on here to read other posters ideas and opinions on the team and players.

Most people won't even recognise my name as I post so little but if the banter picks up abit I will definitely join in more often

This is the exact reason the editors get so annoyed. Small digs at them or just damn right rude. They do have lives themselves. Information will come when their is something to share the light on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow ELI, I feel honoured that you named me first :-P

And I fully agree. There are lots of posters who share their views on the club etc. and those can be very interesting to read as well.

POGBA POGBA POGBA!

Agree0 Disagree0

Apologies to ed008, 018 and 005 I did not mean to criticise your input but was trying to make the point that the website has suffered since ed002 stopped posting. I appreciate all of the information that is given by the eds and was just venting my anger as this was/is my favorite and most reliable site for news. Apologies again, my post was born out of frustration not mallace and I hope to see more posts/input in the future.

long live ed008, way better than ed002, good info but at what price? you say the wrong thing and they go away. its just a football chat site. we are all here just to find out who is coming and going at Chelsea people!

Agree0 Disagree0

I can imagine ed02 looking at your first sentence rosko blues ( even if it was meant tongue in cheek), and saying to himself, in that case ed08 can answer everything and I will continue to stay away.

Hi Eds,

Can any of you please explain our situation in regards to FFP. It seems all we hear now is we won't sign anybody big without moving this player or that player as to respect FFP. We have spent apprx 80m to bring in Costa, Fabregas and Luis. We have sold Lukaku and Luiz for apprx 75m so we really have only spent apprx 5m. Besides the transfer fees are pro-rated as well. don't understand why we simply can't go out and get a Falcao, Cavani, Pogba etc. type of player. Not saying we should go waste money and I realize we have to respect our quota for imports but all I am trying to say is why the fuss as we have not even really spent for this window. I love what we have done so far this window and we have a really good squad but in all honesty we are a solid second striker away from being able to solidly win league or champions and compete with likes of Bayern and Real. I love Mourinho and trust him fully but let's be realistic, heaven forbid if something happens to Costa we will be exactly like last year a good squad having a good year but not great! We simply are not going to get anything out of Torres and Drogba allthough great for morale and will do some good spot duty is 36!Surely spending apprx 60 mil in a window keeps us in line with FFP?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2014 10:20:53
It's not as simple as that. We can only have 17 overseas players in our squad over the age of 21. We have that right now. The squad is nicely balanced in all areas so we would HAVE to sell or loan Torres to accommodate another striker. I'm sure the club would love to do this but at present no club want to take him partly due to his astronomical wages. I think all fans agree with you, we are probably going to be one additional striker short this season as it currently stands.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why worry about it? Let the accounts deal with it.

Hi lads I always read this site at least coulpe times a day. And I do see a lot of negativity in yoyr posts we have improved so massivelly this year that I don't know what you moan about

Agree0 Disagree0

Read an interesting post on WAGNH which basically stated we could spend £150-£200m and still fall within FFP. can't remember if this included wages or not. But as JKB said there's limits to the amount of foreign players we're allowed. If we can offload/loan 2 foreign players then we might see another striker coming in. But then again it's all about what JM considers a priority. We could end up loaning Zouma and bringing in Varane.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2014 08:24:12
I don't get it sorry.

Were well within FFP, and surly the issue regarding foreign players is for Champs League? I know there are Prem rules as well bu there not as harsh.

If we realistically need another striker, a more solid Mid and possibly a CD - then get them. All we have to do is leave the players we don't want out of the CL squad. Leaving Mikel, Marin and Torrez/Drogba out of the CL squad gives us 2 more spots for say kadiera and Cavani (just as an example). Why isn't that a possibility?

Agree0 Disagree0

@Paulmapp. It is but what is the point spending 20mil on khedira and not use Mikel for a whole season? I personally don't rate khedira very much, but he ain't really what we need atm either. there's no doubt in my mind that I would rather not use/register Torres at all so we could get another striker, sadly the club dosent :/ Something tells me its cause they don't wanna lose face (more than they already have atleast).
