Looking over the posts of the last week there is no doubt the main player concerns are Ivanovic and Fabregas. Ivanovic's fall from grace I think has had a major impact on the rest of the defence insomuch as they are being dragged out of position to cover and leaving gaping holes. Fabregas cannot track back and ideally he shouldn't have to but that is the way JM wants it and as others have pointed out the Spurs defeat last year and change of tactics almost coincides with his demise. If JM sticks to the current format I think he has to drop both and utilize Rahman on the left and Azi in the right and pair Matic, who I personally feel has suffered through Fabregas's failings, with Loftus-Cheek. Anyone have any thoughts about trying Costa and Falcao from the start with Hazard and either William/Oscar either side?

Villa is there to snap! We should go there with the intentions of attacking. Play like we di early last season, quick , incisive passing with fullbacks providing extreme width and overlaps (Rahman and Azpi for sure). Cahill and Zouma paring for me, and the rest as you said, really want a paring of falcao and Costa

Frensham, almost every fan has realised from the start of the season that Ivan needed dropping and surly Jose and his staff, smart men who study tapes of matches, must see that as well. And it's not like Ivan has ever been good at anything else but defence besides scoring the odd goal, he actually hurts/holds the team back going forward because he was never truly a fullback to begin with.
I've read an article quoting Jose(London24) saying though that he will not drop Ivan and play Baba because the team will be too short to defend set pieces when he could easily remedy that by moving Cesc up the pitch or to the bench and playing the big kid RLC next to Matic. Also if that were true why not try even try Zouma there for a match. If Ivan starts at fullback against Villa and Cesc at dm then I think Jose deserves whatever the outcome is.
As for Falcao, United played a more attacking style than we do and he still couldn't score and TBH aside from that nice header he hasn't looked threatening so I'd rather play Remy as I think Falcao is finished.

BlueLab: With the goals we have conceded from set pieces I cannot believe JM believes that now and I agree that it worked for a time moving Azi over and slotting him in but he was struggling a bit towards the end of last season with pacy players and this season it has got worse; he was really a centre back and now could really do with being left out all together. Are you and many others not completely baffled by the Rahman situation? It smacks of another player that JM didn't want and he refuses to use them (re: Salah and Cuadrado). Matic is the one player I feel sorry for, covering for Fabregas who at times just doesn't try, has pulled him all over the place and that frustration is written all over his face. I wanted to see Costa and Falcao together in the hope we would try through balls and balls over the top which was their strength, getting away from players. We are inviting trouble keeping Costa with his back to goal as defenders are niggling at him. With Falcao we need to see if his legs have gone as Torres's did, both were excellent in their prime at turning a defender and getting that valuable yard on them but to date Falcao is spending a large part of the game with his back to goal and going looking for the ball rather than it being delivered.

Rahman must be given a run as all are saying. Would agree with Cahill/Zouma and L-C with Matic but not so sure about Falcao pairing with Costa. Would have been a dream pairing a few years back, But Falcao's legs do appear to have gone/confidence too, why Utd passed him on, though would be great to be wrong. Think Remy a better bet on current form if we go for two up front. Our two form attacking midfield players seem to be Willian and Ramires, and they bring such energy to the side. Hard though to get both in team? Well if L-C not picked, would prefer Ramires to Fabregas alongside Matic, and if JM stays with 4-2-3-1 rather than 2 up top, then Willian, Hazard and Oscar (who has hardly got going this season, should be given an extended run now as again when at best offers much in attack and defense and all round energy) behind Costa.

Agree with you Frensham, the Baba situation is puzzling as Jose has dropped players from Terry to Matic but will not drop the most out of form players.
