With so many people mentioning Oscar lately I thought I'd throw another name into the mix is Joao Moutinho. We probably don't have interest but if Oscar continues his inconsistency he would be a great player to replace him. His passing and work rate was a joy to watch when Monaco beat arsenal and he's also quite good defensively. But obviously I really would prefer to see Loftus-Cheek do really well.

sorry but to everyone biging loftus cheek up I don't think he will make it at chelsea

{Ed018's Note - whys that?}

There are opinions & then there is just pure negativity & it's putting me off coming on this site now! What makes you an expert to say he won't make it? I doubt very much he would of even gotten on the bench for us if the best manager in the world didn't think he would be good enough!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - at least let him explain his reasoning behind it}

07 Mar 2015 06:44:13
There's no possible explanation for that comment mate

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - I for one believe he will be apart of the first team next season and that he has the potential to be an outstanding midfielder but I'd like to hear why a Bluekaz doesn't think he will make it at Chelsea}

07 Mar 2015 09:27:38
RLC is really good but I for one just got handed to by my brother, he listed over ten players in the last couple of years that I boasted where going to come from our Academy and tear the world apart but sadly none of them did for one reason or the other, Bluekaz has his reason and I'm sure he'll happily eat some humble pie, but I for one I'm just going to wait and see.

With that said Boga, RLC, Solanke, Ake and Bamford at least the first two for me have to, if they are good enough they have to push for it and signing players like Pogba or Icardi or whoever shouldn't halt their progress it could be a positive on do many levels plus Ake and RLC for example could take mikel and ramires spot assuming we get a midfielder.

Here's to hoping.

I agree with you Ed. I'd honestly stick him I'm a 3 man midfield in a premier league game. He'll also have Matic to guide him through he looked like a steam train going through the middle against sporting.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2015 09:44:34
heres my reasoning 1)ive beeen a chelsea fan for many years now and whilst i'm sure RLC is a wonderful player but the stats don't lie no youth player has come through since Terry what about mcceachran? a few years ago he was tipped as 'the next big thing' but faded away. or kakuta another big sensation
2) jose has never been one for playing youths and him being on the bench is good but not a huge achievement. in all honesty I believe and I pray that i'm proved wrong because I like the look of the kid but we may end upo like united and pogba and let an immense talent leave due to the amount of polayers we already have, I mean come on if we sign pogba or another cdm where would rlc play or fit in and he can only stay on the bench for so long
so excuse me for not getting excited because I for one have seen it all before and I fear I will see it all again

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - (a) Chelsea have a number of players they expect to come through from the Academy in the coming seasons. (b) Loftus-Cheek, Ake and Christensen have all appeared this season.

Pogba did not leave Manchester United because of the number of players they had.}

07 Mar 2015 12:17:51
but my point is we always have players on the verge but they never seem to break through maybe this will change with ake and rlc and others but i'm not holding my breath tbh

Yea but there's no need to be negative bluekaz. It doesn't help, you look at failed prospects Kakuta and McEachran both never had the power or dominated under 21 games like Ruben has.

im not being negative but I think we should all calm down a bit and once they are playting and getting minutes regularly we can get excited

Please, name one player except John Terry who made it in last 11 years.

Greetings to all cfc fans in here, what do you guys think? Giving Oscar a two weeks break should help bring out the best in him for the rest of the season since we need every member of this great team to be in top gear for the remainder of this season, probably this act can help him get back to full gear whenever he seems to have drop form, because Oscar is a very rear type of midfielder as he works round the midfield, helping defensively as well as offensively, this can cause burnout, he can get a break since we have cover for that position

He should have more than enough rest right now. Played only a couple of minutes on Sunday and after West Ham there's a week to prepare for PSG. Everybody should be well rested IMO :)
He's also very important to the team and I hope he picks up form soon. Indeed we need him.

Hello lads and ladies (if we have any),

As aron left us for some time I thought I will try my best to keep this site lively.

So I will bring my weekly questions back to this site and hopefully we can have some nice discussions along with it.

So this weeks question is which signed player is your biggest let down and suprise?

The biggest suprise for me probably is Azplicueta as I didn't know much about him and look what kind of the player he became for us.

The biggest letdown has to be either torres or Shevchenko but as the latter didn't get a lot of chances to shine it has to go to MR (always miss) Torres

Thx for your time and don't be scared to share your views

Biggest let down for me is Torres as well :)
He was so good at Liverpool, and I really liked him (and still like him). I was delighted to see him at Chelsea and pretty gutted when he failed with us. I truly wish him all the best.
Biggest surprise for me would perhaps be Willian. I thought of him as skillful attacking midfielder, the kind of player that destroyed us in the CL :-P
So I was very surprised to see him as an energetic, hard working player. I never would have imagined his style of play in a Brazilian attacking player. I love him now, and I think he sacrifices a lot for the good of the team. In spite of what many on this site think, I believe he's an integral part in our team.

Good post, LRDlt :)

Id have to agree with you on the biggest surprise, azpilicueta has been one of our most consistent players and has got us out of trouble on many occasions, coming from Marseille he was relatively unknown but has proved to be a great find. Biggest down for me has got to be de bruyne not Torres (scored in the champions league semi final against barca to make what would have been a very nervous last few minutes, some of the most enjoyable in my time as a Chelsea fan)de bruyne came with so much potential and could have been a great player for us had he stuck it out, seeing him do so well in the bundesliga makes it even more of a let down.

Biggest let down is Mikel. I have watched him for years and always thought he would grow into a real force as he aged. However he just sat at the sane level. Huge shame. Biggest surprise is Branna, he came from nowhere to save our season ans has been consistent since. every year I think we could replace him then every year he pulls out another winning season. a proper Chelsea warrior.

BigPhil I was thinking to nominate Branna too, Branna and Azpi were those superb cheap buys

Looking like we made a mistake letting Sarah go. Is he due to return from his loan next season or has a fee/optiin been agreed with fiorentina to complete a transfer. Never understood the cuadrado transfer.

Said ages ago oscar is poor and got slated for saying it! Now all I can see is oscar bashing

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - his form has certainly dropped off lately. It's strange that this keeps happening in the second half of the season now the last few years}

06 Mar 2015 07:42:24
He's a magical player when on his game, and indeed it's a bit weird that his form keeps dropping off as we get to the 2nd half of the season.
That being said, I don't think we should bash Oscar. There's plenty of games still to be played. He might just as well come through for us.

You guys should lay off the dude, yes he always dips in form this time of the season, but he is by no means poor, the premier league is tough physically.

Take Salah for example he is kicking butt in Italy and there will be some who would think he didn't get a fair chance but in reality playing for the US and in a league like this there is more pressure, physicality and boy do you have to hit the ground running.

If Oscar does leave I think it should be to make way for someone who could offer what we lack in midfield when Matic is absent, and still give more than a lot going forward, no names Pogba. :D.
If we do get a good deal for Oscar all well and good but you guys should really take it easy on the dude he is still only 23" you know and if he does leave to Italy or France I promise he'll bring you all back on here with red faces.

P. S. Saw the post on Mata, that ship has sailed love the dude but really we have to let it go, he's not coming back. Moving forward.

I remember saying the same about Oscar as well. We are just not scoring goals at the moment and seem to be very reliant on hazard (and ivanovic). I think cuadrado is a mistake and Willian also does not offer enough. Need some wingers who actually offer high numbers of goals and assists as they is what their primary job should be and I think hazard is the only one we have at the moment.

If I remember rigt me and Eli were dissapointed (to be said at least) with the sale of Mata. But what's done that's done. Oscar in other hand is going downhill and I believe we need to play hazard/willian/cuardaro in most of the games. So many people were shouting on here about how much they want cuardaro and now the lad played somehing like 120 mins of football and getting slated as bad buy. Give him some time please!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2015 15:21:46
Ok Eli so you say the league is tough for players like oscar so how can mata be such a success for us and the biggest wimp of them all in fabregas can still boss a game! Oscar don't! Oscar is a lot stronger than those 2 but the differance is mata and fabregas ARE world class players who find a way to impact a game threw skill. I really hope we sell oscar in the summer it's no good having a decent half a season and then be a passenger in the business end! We are carrying the bloke at the moment it's like playing with 10 men and it's effecting the team! I will say this again letting mata go is the biggest mistake this club has done in a long time! See no point in letting mata go because he is so weak and not a Jose player AND then bring in cesc to which players breeze past him! I hate him playing so deep with matic! Sell oscar push cesc no10 and bring in a player like pogba or the lad from Monaco kendogbia to play along side matic! Be better balance to the team

06 Mar 2015 16:11:20
Have to agree with you pinky. Mata was suited for our team, sadly jose didn't thought like that and now we have to move on. Even though I strongly believe that with Mata in the team we would be much stronger than we are now. But hey we are first in the league have a good shout for CL glory and already won a cup. What else can we ask?

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Mar 2015 23:55:57
thierry Henry said after the cup final & I quote " Chelsea love to defend, they thrive on defending" if you watch how we play we look like we are getting pummeled by every team we play against but we aren't, we sit back & soak up the pressure & then hit back with a counter & score. so many away games this season we've managed 2 shots on goal, 1 goes in & 1 doesn't. while other teams try all game to break us down but fail simply because we are a class above! Every one of our attacking players like Willian, Oscar, cuadrado & even costa press high & defend which sacrifices their own game for the team! Probably why Oscar has been below par for a while now because he's constsntly pressing opponents & absolutely shattered as the game goes on & you can visibly see that! He will come good again I'm sure of it just a dip

Oscar struggles after the winter period as we play a lot of games and his style of play means he does more running around than most, it would be almost impossible to keep up that level of consistency week after week putting in as much effort as he does, a bit of rest and some warm weather and he will be back to his best, he is Brazilian after all. Cuadrado has shown glimpses of what he can do but I suspect we won't see the best of him until the following season.
