Just watching Everton v west ham
Boy am I glad we got rid of lukaku, lazy and the touch of a hammer.
Also if anyone offers us barklay and they want more than ten bob, just say no thanks. Again poor tonight and what I don't like, if its your mistake that loses the ball you chase back. Apparently that thought appeared Alien to him.

Agree with Barkley I said that before and every had a go. So over-rated, needs to stop diving aswell.

Couldn't agree more KingEden. Of course home grown talent is extremely important, with english talent included in that, but sometimes people go over board.

Would people be so keen to get him if he didn't have home grown status? Maybe that's the question - Woudl be still be so excited if he wasnt english. If that's the reason or even factoring into it at all I would rather bring through Loftus-Cheek, Baker, Brown, Ake and Solanke and spend the millions that would be spent on Barkley on other players which will greatly benefit us.

I think there will be a great effort to sign a good home grown keep in the summer, like a proper number 2 to replace cech as he is obviously going to go. Then the third spot could go to Blackman or another youth keeper.

If he is good enough, it doesn't matter his age, his status or where he is from.

And i'm sure I might get some hate from this, and i'm not for once saying Barkley will be a great player, but is he worth the month that would have to be paid? Can anyone truly say the fact he is home grown doesn't factor into the decision?

There are other positions we can focus on this with e.g. as I mentioned, a good english goalkeeper.

If the home grown argument is a factor at all, I would agree with you again KingEden and I would go for Schneiderlin as he has been incredible for a number of years and would fit our team, and would have the home grown bonus.

I guess its just something I haven't seen mentioned much anymore. Hopefully we can just focus on getting players that actually improve the team rather than getting into the home grown english player debate - withing a couple to a few years I would like though think we have quite a few players developed at the club as squad players and in the first team.

Sorry about the rant, can't sleep so I found myself on here lol

I want RlC to make it sooo badly! Love his style of play. I want him in the first team about as much as I want Pogba and Varane. And that says a lot.
It'll be interesting to see what the club does regarding the homegrown rule.

If there's one English player to go for it's John Stones! He's going to be a massive player in the future.

Agree with most on the Barkley and lukaku sentiments. Lukaku thinks he's a far better player than he is. He'll have a run of 5 games where he's on Fire followed by 10 where you didn't know he played. His ability on the ball is awful and all he's good for is finishing moves off. Look at diego who is involved in the buildup to so many of our goals. With Barkley if he was Spanish and not homegrown you would laugh at a price over 25m. Period.

If Barkley is Spanish and homegrown Spanish his price would be between 50-70m£ in Spain. Don't mix apples and oranges. Barkley is English homegrown very talented and he has to cost a fortune.

Im not entirely sure what mn was trying to say. I was just trying to raise the point that the interest in Barkley, who will surely be a good player, is ramped up because of him being English and home grown. In some cases I think some of the bigger clubs, or some people when they discuss transfers seem to just go "ok, who is english"

A lot of people seem to always say that in the premier league, you need an english core to be successful. I don't believe this is successful. What I do believe is that it is helpful to have a core come through the youth teams so they understand the club and these players can be from anywhere. Just trying to raise my point and get a discussion going.

Ed002??!!

Georgebest 26 in every league in Europe home grown players are far more expensive than non home grown. That is natural, since major rich clubs are lacking regarding home grown players. For instance Koke would cost much more to any Spanish club than any other foreign club. It is simple as that.
Obviously Ed002 either didn't understood my post or he didn't read it properly.

Along with the ones that get spoke about a lot on here just watching the un18s tonight and I like the look of Charlie Musonda to me looks like he could have the same sort of style as hazard just glides past people. Managed well think he will be great

Musonda's technique on the ball is the stuff of dreams, similar to Boga IMO. His disadvantage though is that his build is rather small. He'll probably never be a physical player but I think it'd benefit him greatly if he could beef up a bit (similar to Christensen).
Musonda is a huge talent, and it wasn't for nothing that he was coveted by a lot of big teams before we got him.

J, you are right that Charlie is a fantastic talent. Don't worry about his size, just look at Messi, Maradona, Zola etc.

The front 5 that played are amazingly talented. they all seem to have their heads screwed on too. credit to the coaching at the club, I think they're doing a great job.

I'd love to see a pre-season game of the first team against the youth team (mixture of U21's/U19's). that'd bring a good crowd and make for a decent match. :)

He wasn't very good against Man City last week. A bit too lightweight and tried too many tricks, but that's the only game I've seen him play this season.

Honestly don't understand the stick people get on here for there views. I mentioned Schneiderlin and no one was happy. Do people not understand a quality player when they see one. Even Gary Neville said he's the real deal and he could play at any top club. Even though I said him I mean just use him as an alternative to Pogba because let's face it even though we may have interest it's highly unlikely we'll get him especially if PSG and Real Madrid get involved.

In a squad I think you should always have two quality defensive midfielders, we have one in Nemanja Matic. Look at Bayern when they won the treble who was there two midfielders? Schweinsteiger and Martinez. They were awesome both defensive, retrieving the ball and giving it to the attacking four as soon as they won it back. If we signed Schneiderlin him and Matic would be able to give us that protection in certain games. I'm not saying play them together all the time just when we play tough away games against the big teams or like games against I.e Spurs, stoke Everton etc games in which they would give you a bit more defensively.

Then when we play at home against teams in the bottom half or smaller teams west ham and Swansea go back to dropping Fabregas next to Matic to play more attacking when you don't need to be as defensive.

Just my opinion we'd all prefer Pogba but it's unlikely. Schneiderlin would be a great alternative and also to replace Mikel. Our 5 cm's could be Matic, Fabregas, Schneiderlin, Ramires and Ake. Then my attacking five in the squad would be Hazard, Oscar, Willian, New RW (Bale, Cuadrado, Reus) and as 5th choice a youth player preferably Baker. I'd use Fabregas as no.10 more because that's where I like him because YES I think Oscar's inconsistent and if we could move him on for a sizable fee to use that money on a quality RW.

I don't see the immediate need in Varane as good as he is. If all were after is pace at centre back i've already said I'd prefer we bring Kalas back. They love him at Boro already. Kalas and Terry would be great although Terry really worried me injust how many times he got beat against Newcastle. We seen against Liverpool and Cardiff last season away that Kalas and Ivanovic played really well together as an alternative. That said I still hope Zouma could offer us something if we give him more games. It's early days yet though and I think people are loving Zouma too much too early. For me Ivanovic is a natural centre half and that's why I'd rather see Dave and Filipe as full backs.

Mate I didn't see the schneiderlen however u spell it talk, but I'm with you he's quality! A major upgrade on mikel. Or even a chance to put him next to matic and fabregas forward. I don't personally think Cahill and Ivanovic deserve to be playing since the last 7 or 8 games, both been poor in my eyes, and I can't stand the way Willian stands around with the ball but I respect his work rate. I want Dave and luis playing at left and right back. I want reus in salah needs a couple year or season and half loan in a decent team in a decent league. Schurrle I'm afraid is struggerling under mourinhos tactics, shame because he's a great attacker but in his game time you see him always worrying about defending. One of those things. Rumours he's home sick, I don't know how true this is. I wanna see remy play more also, should be ahead of drogba as far as I see it.

Sncheidelin is qaulity I agree. But pogba! It may be unlikely but we need to do absolutely everything possible in order to get him.

Always set next choice would be Martinez, but he seems injury prone, so I'm with you on Sncheiderlin.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the response to my previous post. The media are suggesting Chelsea are going to recall Van Ginkel from his loan. You hear anything of this? Would be good see him back in blues shirt.

Thanks
