Ed002
The question relates to a comment you made about the amount of funds that would be available to re invest from any player sales.
Taking an arbitary figure of £100m that would presumably paid in 4/ 5 tranches of £20/ 25m?
Based on that figure how much would a club be able to invest short term from that sale?
I ask as you see a lot of fans assuming that the £80m? we got for Eden is available for player purchases in the summer.
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about - and whatever I said would have been in relation to what I was asked. None of it is related to Eden Hazard not=r any random figures you have running around in side of your head.}

Taking £100m, you’d still need to pay taxes, agent fees, FA fees, any bonuses still owed to the player. There are a lot of extra fees that don’t get mentioned so there’s no fixed amount or percentage you can attribute to what would be available following the sale of a player.

Thanks for explaining that Fuser .
I partly asked as I am puzzled by the figures being banded around about transfer funds available next summer particularly after the loss just posted.
Where the money would come from to sign Sancho and Dembele God knows unless we sell Kante.

Anyone else see Reece James's future in midfield sooner rather than later? Doesn't have remind me of Essien with his physical build and he can pass and shoot as well.

Shame Lamptey left then!

He could play that role but we would lose his crossing talents from the wing we should be key moving forward.

I have said this to friends, I think both TAA and Reece James will end up in the midfield eventually.

TAA started in midfield as a youth player I believe, only came in at RB due to dire injury problems

I don't think either is the answer in CM on a permanent basis. You see how well TAA switches play and, as mentioned, crosses. That's a huge weapon. James is the same, should be double figures in assists most seasons.

Why would you move him into midfield when he's a quality RB?!

We've had well publicised problems scoring goals this season. Personally I think that, whilst we'll still likely bring new attacking players in, this could be a problem that could largely sort itself out internally. I expect to see improvements from all of Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Mount and Abraham next season, whilst we haven't seen this team with the additional attacking / goal threat of Loftus-Cheek yet this season.

The problem for which I don't see a solution internally is the rate at which we are conceding goals, this is were I believe the club need to focus their transfer business. Preferably in three positions.

GK - The trust in Kepa is done, it's rare that your first choice keeper is dropped and then brought back into the team - unless the understudy does dramatically worse.

HENDERSON would be the ideal replacement, but I can't for the life of me see Man Utd selling him to us - a longer term loan, or sale with a buyback clause, to Sheffield Utd is seemingly more likely. OBLAK is proven at the top level but would be pricey and want UCL football, would Atletico be interested in taking Kepa off our hands in return?

CB - Rudiger, Zouma, Christensen and Tomori are all decent enough, but no combination of the four makes for a good enough partnership. Think the Liverpool CB's without/ before VVD (I don't think there's anyone close to VVD out there) .

He's relatively inexperienced at EPL level, but I really do think MINGS could be the answer here. A vocal leader with the potential to form a very good long-term partnership with either Tomori or Christensen.

DM - I like us playing with our fullbacks pushed on, James could / should provide assists at TAA's level in the near future, someone on the left, like Robertson, would massively improve our attacking threat. I don't think Jorginho deserves the criticism that he gets from fans and the press, I just don't think he's suitable to play as a deep midfielder in this team - I see a return to Italy being on the cards for him this summer. In order for that to happen think we need a deep midfielder who is comfortable pulling further back, almost into defence, when the fullbacks are further upfield.

Staying with the English theme, RICE could perform this role for us - but would he want to return to the club? One of the best I've seen in Europe this season is Lisandro MARTINEZ at Ajax - he'd be an excellent signing.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has no interest in any of these players.}

Lol, Ed002 putting a damper.
Are we even interested in a GK, a CB and a DM, Ed002 (in the scenario that no one pushes for a move)?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea, like all clubs, are interested in a broad spectrum of players.}

Said all along Lisandro Martinez would be my choice for CDM. Brilliant player and fantastic on the ball for a defender. Be like a Makelele type.

Henderson is definitely the keeper I’d go for. United won’t want to let him go but if he’s not given first choice and Frank came calling I think he’d want to come here.

Strakosha I am also a fan of as well.

Please not Declan Rice, he is the epitome of average. Looks a talent because he is alongside terrible players like Carlos Sanchez, plus he clearly burned his bridges with Chelsea long ago. Let Utd waste the outrageous sums West Ham will want for him instead. If we want a punt on defensive midfielder, I'd suggest De Roon from Atalanta, was a decent player at Middlesborough and has come on leaps and bounds in Italy.

71 million is huge for any club in present day dispensation, though I want to believe that Chelsea has a world class facility and personnel to get the best out of kepa, but his disappointing stats is baffling. I recall T. cortois requested change in his trainer office. kepa is talented regardless of his small frame and feeble hands, but it appears his techniques seems to be exploited easily in England.

Also am not a fan of A. Rudiga and A. Christensen pairing, the later always give me huge scare, very talented, and really sound on the ball but lacks aggression and bullish character needed to succeed in top flight. that guy is perfect gentleman on a Lagos street, Costa would relish playing against him. he could be upgraded.

I think lamps need to find his defensive pairings and stick to them consistently so as to improve them, also I believe kepa was scouted well and good recommendations were made, he can't just become useless over the sudden. His techniques seems to be conflicting his qualities and fame work. Sorry for the lengthy note, am very happy about the future, up great blues!

I know he just signed for inter, but we should definitely go after lukaku in the summer. Should never have been let go in the first place, was our best striker at the time.

He’s score 25 for us every season.

I’m not a fan Standard for lots of reasons but I’m sure there may be issues within the club. If I remember correctly one the Eds has hinted at the problems when we were linked with him before.
