Positives from tonight!

Begovic looked solid with 99% of what he had to do tonight.

Aina was very impressive at right back, really like the look of him.

Traore did well, considering he was way, way out of position. Showed a lot of youthful intent going forward - I still think the lad needs another loan to progress though.

Loftus Cheek ran our midfield, looking very good. He must have given Mourinho something to think about as far as the midfield pecking order goes.

Moses has proven during the whole of pre-season that he's a good squad player for us, and he continued that tonight.

Sorry I don't mean to mess up.

But why your review is different with what I read -.-"

They said that Traore is very enthusiastic but not very proficient.
RLC just have a so - so match.

Moses is good but unluckily he is injured.

06 Aug 2015 01:54:41
Agree with you there would play him in front of caudrado and Traore thought they were both shocking though Traore was out of position. Falcoa looked sharpe Mikel how he gets a game I will never no Aina looked good bergovic look good Rubén steady away didn't lift any trees up really over all not a very good preseason in terms of results but they don't really matter as long as they get it right Saturday. Let's get in that transfer window pedro stones Rahman

Sitting here watching Chelsea we are now in the 71st minutes and again even if this is a friendly I am not convinced that we are in a place that we can relax and not be under pressure, WE can't SCORE! Laugh all you like at my post about how we need Pedro! You all said he isn't that good or he isn't that fast well sometimes being mature, having experience and playing for a Treble winning team twice in his career is better then having Oscar or Cuadrado that cost more then him and haven't proven themselves! We will not win the Premiere league if Costa can't score 20 or more goals again! Of course this is a friendly and of course none of these games count and we did show up last year in a big way to start the season but again you can't depend on one guy And as you all can see we have a long season ahead if we can't put the ball in the net! PEDRO was huge believe it or not and regardless if we win or lose this year I will always be a Chelsea Die hard fan!
I have this day marked as August 5th 2015 mark my words Pedro will be a top scorer and you will all wish we had him by years end!

Relax. At least wait till the end of the transfer window to judge how the season's going to go. There can still be players incoming. And wait to judge the play of the team at least till we've played City or a couple of PL games. Preseason means nothing. Hell, Marin was playing way better than Hazard during their first preseason ;-)

Agree0 Disagree3

05 Aug 2015 22:49:35
Well though the op is overreacting a tad bit, one can't help but see where his coming from.
Pedro was like, most didn't want him where in all honesty he would have done a job for us, I really don't want to read too much into the pre season games cause for me win or lose those games are nothing more than to gain fitness and get a little game sharpness, but the fact we have chose up until now not to improve for me is a problem, we have replaced players who have left outstandingly well but no improvements got me pondering what we are doing, as has been said still a fair bit left in the window but boy would it suck if we panic buy. Here's to hoping.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 01:29:06
Thanks for understanding what I stated about Pedro! Again I realize it's preseason and that we don't ever wanna pressure buy or look into the preseason as a decider of what will or is going to happen as no one knows! One thing I do know is Arsenal had many injured players and Man Unite took awhile to get their butts in gear and lastly Man City just stunk the last couple months of the season! Pedro Shakiri even a player like DrAxler Goetze Reus are all players that could come in and make an impact! Balotelli believe it or not is better then Falcao and Mourinho worked with him at Inter already! We bring players in to replace others but I always think of the Day Hazard gets malled by some AH for clipping or taking his legs out as they did all last year and we will be in big big trouble! Again I'm not trying to be negative nor misinterpreted I just want a big 3 like the best teams have and now that PSG brought in Dimaria the big 4 Barcelona PSG Bayern Real not to mention that AMadrid have a fantastic defense and Man U will be a great team with their editions we must have some backup to protect Costa and we stall with our decisions!
My last request was for us to think before we trade! Kevin De Buryne Juan Mata Romelu Lukaku Andre Schurlee Mohammed Salah Juan Cuadrado think of the money made and the money spent and what we could have bought or even kept! For me Lukaku was a beast and definitely could have helped up front and Deburyne in the midfield the rest bought us Costa Matic and Fabregas! We need to think before we buy and this is why people don't play for Mou the way they used to cause he takes their chance away!

Sorry for venting but the year the Yankees lost to Boston in 7 games up 3-0 had the power strength and talent to win it all but couldn't score the last 4 games in a row they lost and If we can't score doesn't matter how good our defense plays we lose one nothing or tie we give the other teams a chance to pass us without wins and scores!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - I'm guessing your a Jets fan? The Browns are gonna beat the Jets first week of the season}

06 Aug 2015 10:13:02
Jets, I kind of agree with your rant except that we made quite a bit of money from De Bruyne, Lukaku, Mata, and now Salah.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 09:57:14
Yes Ed I am a jets fan and the jets always needed a quarterback so let's see how they do this year! On paper their awesome but paper doesn't always transfer to the field! Thanks for all your support and for your insight and info on Chelsea! I have been a Chlesea fan since the year 2000 so at that time Chelsea wasn't any good and were building their team! i'm really excited for both seasons, I'm actually more Footy fan then an American football fan! I really just hope we can repeat our success we had last year and Cosat can come back strong aT one point if the season! Have. A great week!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - being a Jets fan is about as hard as being a Browns fan and don't talk to me about quarterbacks, the Browns have had the worst luck with quarterbacks over the last 16 years}

05 Aug 2015 20:51:49
Loving Aina. I suggest we nickname Mikel 'Dynamic' from now on because it's the adjective that least describes him! Roll on Saturday, have had enough of these half-paced, meaningless friendlies.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

05 Aug 2015 21:15:23
Aina looks fantastic prospect hugely dissappinted with Oscar again tonight

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 21:21:56
Meaningless they may be but all teams want to win and so far tonight we have seen potential players of the future especially Aina and Loftus-Cheek going forward although he ball watches in defence. Moses is not doing bad and could be a useful sub this year. Personally Cuadrado has not got it and Traore shows all the enthusiasm of youth but is not ready for anything other than a cameo role this year if at all. Fiorentina are poor and if and when he brings on the big guns it will be disappointing not to win comfortably.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 22:01:40
I hoped the arsenal game was a one off and that remy could not be that bad. Sorry to say he is that bad, in fact he is crap. One disappointment for me is I have always been a ramires fan, however I think he has had his day. I believe that we need another striker because if falcao doesn't score quickly it will become an issue. As I say remy is poor, so no costa we will struggle. I know it was a friendly and if we looked dangerous they kicked us but we should be ripping teams like that apart. I worried towards the end of last season that hazard was our only threat and that is starting to look the case pr-season. Also teams are now 2-3 players on him every time he gets the ball. I hope I am wrong, but worry that the lack of that one signing may cause us to struggle this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 22:05:18
Traore played as a left back, so let's not base our opinions of him on this 1 game. He's an attacking player so it's logical that he didn't play his best game tonight.
And Moses didn't just do "not bad", I thought he played really well.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Aug 2015 22:12:58
Moses was a breath of fresh air in terms of his attacking intent but his close control and lack of end product are his major downfalls imo.

05 Aug 2015 20:49:40
How do you really think the season will go. I think we will have another one of those seasons of just about qualifying for the champions league. Honestly can't see us challenging for the title this year.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

05 Aug 2015 20:53:07
Are you an Arsenal fan posting on the wrong site?!

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Aug 2015 21:00:28
Not sure what team you support as apart from the one year in which we 'just about qualified' for the champs league by winning it, I can't think of many years recently that we've scrapped for 4th place. In fact we haven't finished 4th since 02/03 season.
Whilst I've been underwhelmed by both our preseason and transfers so far, to discount us as being title contenders is beyond silly. City still have a very old squad, with a few extra average English players. Utd have bought some good players but they will need to work on cohesion and I still think their system will work against them. Arsenal are only 1-2 injuries away from scrapping for 4th and I'd say they're our closest challengers.
The other midtable teams don't worry me.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 21:21:33
No supported Chelsea for 50 years. This is just my personal view, doesn't make me less of a supporter. Why should I say I think we will be challenging for the title, when I don't think we will. Just my prediction for this season, and I hope I am proved to be wrong.

Agree3 Disagree2

05 Aug 2015 21:29:14
I have supported Chelsea for over 50 years, and am entitled to make a prediction of how I think the team will get on during the season, just as every other Chelsea supporter is entitled to do. Just because I don't think the team will win the league this year makes me less of a supporter than everyone else. I certainly hope they win, but my own personal view is that they won't, and I hope I am proved wrong. Look on the other sites, the Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool, their supporters have honest opinions on how their team will get on, if they don't think their team will win the league does that mean they support someone else?

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Aug 2015 21:43:24
It was apparent in the second half of last season and no more apparent in pre-season, we do not have a great deal of firepower and still struggle with a packed defence with all this tippy tap football. It cannot be just me that sees it this way?

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Aug 2015 21:51:50
Sid I couldn't agree more much better to be a fan without blinkers on. I agree really can't see us winning the League unless we can get some more goals.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - it's the same issue I talked about for the second half of last season. Other than Hazard and Costa I just don't see where the goals are gonna come from.}

05 Aug 2015 22:04:13
No offense but Liverpool and Arsenal supporters having honest opinions/expectations! HA! Both teams supporters have been predicting they'll win the league for the last decade and haven't even really come close.
I don't think that if you're a chelsea supporter, you're obliged to believe that we'll be challengers but pretty much every single person/pundit has tipped chelsea to win the league again. Also it's the small things that make us doubt you support chelsea, such as saying 'they' instead of 'we' or 'the team' instead of 'our team'. And the fact that you think we've scrapped for the champs league places, which leads us to believing you're not a chelsea supporter.
Also if you actually qualified your opinion with reasons as to why you feel we won't even challenge for the title perhaps we wouldn't be so quick to dismiss your opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 22:04:25
Someone give Roman or Jose a shake and tell them every fan in the world are concerned cause this team isn't good enough to retain the league without some goal scorers in the team I think we will struggle

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 22:09:59
I don't necessarily expect us to win the league but to not even challenge would be a shock. I agree that we need more goals if we are going to win.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 22:18:53
As I have stated many many times we need a goalscoring cm and a winger as close to hazard as we can get (we should have gone all out for Sanchez or reus but not happening now). Gotze looks like he could move if we pushed so he would be my choice. Pogba for cm but again think that will never happen. WAKE UP CHELSEA! (And blinkered fans!)

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 07:59:39
Interesting to read 'Sid' a supporter for 50 years and I agree in many respects with his comments because he has seen it happen before although I don't think we will be outside the first four. My first game was in April 1955 when we beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 to all but seal the title so between us we will have seen the many ups and downs that have dogged the Clubs career and to my mind we should have won the title three years in a row, the third being 06-07 BUT we got complacent and THIS is what I think is happening to an extent now. Last year was not a vintage year and the best team won but we will not win it this year scoring just 73 goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 10:24:29
My God, the negativity! I totally agree that we are too Hazard / Matic dependent and if either of those get side-lined for a long period we will struggle to replace them BUT I will bet any of you that we will challenge for the title and finish in the top 2 - we'll come back to this next May!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 11:04:26
Mrs Costa: I would prefer concern rather than negativity. You highlight our dependency on two players, one up front, one in the middle, the two areas that are problematic. Costa is now a huge concern for the season overall, Falcao needs support and goals and Remy cannot cut it; this is not negativity it is real concern and many of the recent contributors are all homing in on that same thing. Fabregas is not effective unless he can find players to put the ball in the net or assist him and it is not happening. Swansea will be a tougher nut than Fiorentina.

06 Aug 2015 14:43:51
On a different tack, Frensham, I'm not old enough (still a twinkle in my dad's eye!) to remember '55 but my Dad used to go on about that game against Wolves and the referee not spotting that Wright had punched the ball over the bar and a lot of confusion until he eventually gave Chels a penalty.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 20:01:11
Mrs "Twinkle in his Dad's eye" Costa: It must have been your Dad standing next to my Dad and I as we all held our breath as Peter Sillett (minutes silence please) walked up and nearly knocked the ball inside out as he scored. Boy the ups and downs we have had since then!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 20:44:51
Another poor display first half. Traore playing a LB when he's one of our most promising attacking players. Falcao working hard with no support because of that boring slow paced formation of having two holding players and a back line that sits on top of our own goal keeper. I think aina has had a decent half and loftus cheek is making mikel look like the youth player other than that where miles away from being ready to defend the league.

He's a waist of space we got caught big time with him

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 20:52:27
For all the use he has been cuadrado could have been right back in the changing room. He is clearly not prem league, he is strolling round, this was his chance to make an impression. the only impression he made was he is officially not good enough. This game shows RLC needs more time he is not strong enough and doesn't appear to work hard enough. Couple of successes aina looked very good. Thought Moses is starting to look like a must start player. Mikel again slow and ponderous, he is a senior player who the kids look to but makes too many errors.zouma good again and needs to start regularly. Oscar ok and falcao worked hard. Traore ok but needs to play it simple, build his confidence then try the tricks.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 21:11:36
Andrew I couldn't agree any more we got stung big time for cuadrado . I think it's a shame we have no one to create chance for falcao today . I also see rlc as a tad bit not ready for first team hope I'm wrong . Young traore has played ok but it's easy to see its not his position . I see no reason once again why people think Oscar is special he never does it for me . I think we will be in for a tuff season I think our squad looks a bit light to be honest

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 15:54:58
We have a good squad but no better than Utd, arsenal and city I believe. They have all strengthened in a similar way we did last year bringing in Costa, fabregas etc. This season I'm of the belief that Jose or the board are believing we are better than what we really are. Some of the performances towards the end of last season where shocking. Is remy really good enough to lead the line if Costa has a long lay off through injury. Can falcao rediscover his athletico form. Is Ramires going to be filling in at right wing again because we don't have a good enough right sided player. Can JT produce the same top quality performances from last season. For me there are too many ifs, because we seem to be standing still while everyone one else strengthens their squad. Having said all this I think we should still have enough to win domestic trophies but we can't compete with the real and barcas. Our signings to take us to the next level need to be top quality, not just 18 year olds who maybe good enough in five years time. I'm still of hope that Jose has an ace up his sleeve and can bring greizman or even pogba in.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - Ramires should never be at right wing when we have Willian, Traore, Cuadrado and Moses in the squad}

"The New Michael Essien"?

Give me strength!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I'd love to see another Essien type player at Chelsea}

05 Aug 2015 12:59:24
Essien was one of the biggest reasons I started supporting Chelsea back then :-)
With the transfer market in the state it currently is and average players going for 25-30 million easily, how much would he be worth at his best. Fantastic player.

So you're a glory hunter then are you Jackson?

05 Aug 2015 14:59:46

05 Aug 2015 14:29:14
Hard to tell, maybe £30 mill. That goal against Barcelona. Shame about the result

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 16:39:17
No not really a glory hunter, mate. It's just first impressions are important. I didn't really follow any team until then. I was still pretty young then. I loved the way Essien played, so physical and dogged, and really liked Drogba's occasional bully ball style. I'm all for power :-)
And of course, Mourinho was also a factor in supporting the club. I admit I started following the club during a successful period, but I can't help the fact I only really became interested in football during the same period.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 18:21:22
That's how a football club can gain worldwide support like Man U and Liverpool. The younger generation or those taking interest in football for the first time, will usually support the most successful team in the country at that time. It takes generations to increase the support worldwide, for that generation to grow and continue with success or pass on their love for the club to their children.
You can tell Jackson loves the club and his posts are always fair, well thought out and polite and reasonable, probably the Gunner 62 of the Chelsea board. Well done young man
