Texeira has gone to China apparently.

Saw that, if true that's such a waste. I feel the same about Ramires, he can absolutely do better than China.

It's a strange one if it does happen. Whilst in general I take what players say with a pinch of salt, and the fact that he seemingly switched from wanting a move to Chelsea to a move to Liverpool rather quickly, I had actually believed that he wanted to move to the PL to boost his chances of playing for Brazil. Moving to an even less renown league than Ukraine will all but end any hope of a call up imo.

I wonder how much they're making because texiera, Ramires, and Jackson Martinez are some big name players. Honestly I'm not overly disappointed about missing out on him because I think if we're going to go for a winger it needs to be somebody that is elite such as Greizzman and I wouldn't call texiera elite.

I suspect Teixeira went where his 'owners' told him to.

A lot of rumours about Allegri today.

Just out of interest with whoever you think is the most realistic next manager for us whether it's Conte, Allegri etc which 3 players would you realistically want us to sign under them.

Good question
My three ideal signings would be stones griezmann and Kane. Never going to happen I know but I would love the spine of tbo stones/ zouma rlc Kane as it has a grea English solidity to it.
Realistically I'd be happy with three out of the four of stones griezman ruben beves and beharino.

There are quite a few potential options for managers but I'd say that currently the most realistic would be Conte, Jorge Sampaoli and Pellegrini simply due to the fact that all of them are available. Blanc could be available if JM were to join PSG but both Allegri and Simeone are at clubs which are doing well.
With regards to players, it's hard to tell which could be realistic as it depends on whether or not they'd be happy to miss out on competing in the CL for a year. Whilst I'm aware that ed002 has said we've not really shown interest in some of the players, personally I'd target Stones/ Laporte and Gaya/ Cancelo/ Carvajal, Xhaka/ Verratti and Ruben Neves, perhaps try a swap deal involving Costa for Griezmann and Isco/ Texeira and then ideally I'd go for Dybala.

Conte as manager.

Stones, Barkley, Griezmann as the three signings.

It really could change so much in terms of both manager and player recruitment based on the end of the year. At this stage I'm far more worried about player retention than player recruitment. Obviously Simeone would be nice but I can't see him coming unless we're in the champions league. I'd be shocked if pochetino left barring some miracle where they don't qualify for the champions league and we do. Beyond that I'd probably prefer conte as i don't like the message that appointing pelligrini would send.

Would like to see Ronald Koeman brought in, could be great at a bigger club and already knows the league. Plus good with younger players (RLC, Traore and Kenedy) .

Players would be Laporte, Neves or veratti and Lukaku.

Hi Ed, bit of a left-field one but here goes;

You may have seen rumblings from fans re: Emenalo (based entirely on a vacuum of knowledge and wanting to point the finger somewhere for this season's failings), but this isn't derived from that - I saw a rumour a while ago that Walter Sabatini was leaving Roma, with Chelsea his potential destination (also seen rumour of Bologna as his destination) . So my question is, is there any substance to that rumour (Sabatini to work for Chelsea in some capacity) or, to widen it out, is there anything to suggest the club are reviewing the structure as well as just looking for a manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no plan for Walter Sabatini to join Chelsea. He has been in London on three occasions in the past few months, once to meet with Chelsea over a player in October, once to talk with Arsenal about a player in November and in January to again speak with Chelsea about a player in January. Right now Chelsea are looking at planning for the future from a footballing standpoint. The hierarchy itself is not looking like it is going to change.}

Ed002I have a finance/ FFP related question that I was hoping you could answer for me. A player's transfer fee is amortised over the length of their initial contract with the carrying amount spread over a new contract extension and proceeds from the sale of a player is recorded as a lump sum. I was wondering whether the carrying amount is written off as a lump sum at the time of disposal or whether its paid off over the remainder of the contract?
Also I assume agent's fees capitalised?
Thanks =].

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - (a) All costs do not need to be amortised across the length of the contract, some clubs take the transfer fee in a single hit at signing and amortise the wages. (b) If the player signs an extension and all of the charges are amortised, then it is recalculated from the date of the signing of the extension. (c) When a player is sold the outstanding costs are nearly always written down at that point.}

Yes, but only in the sense that as soon as we again qualify for a UEFA competition then at that point the last 3 years will be looked at I believe.

We need 62 points and 7th place to avoid being the worst team in premier league history to defend a title. That dubious honour is currently held by Blackburn Rovers in 1995/ 6. 7th place and 61 points. I would set that as our aim in the league this season.

I would happily see us finish outside the Europa league spots and have a main focus next season on the league, similar to Liverpool a few years back until Gerard slipped lol.

Was at the game last night and thought we deserved to win on our second half performance, we did everything but score, JT had a good game and deserves another year.
My biggest feeling after the game is that we should try to sign Troy Deeney for next season, he is very powerful and direct and caused us a lot of problems, if we had him in place of Fabregas last night I believe we would have won.

I was also at the game and agree that JT still has plenty to offer. Even if we buy someone central and he does not play on a regular basis, his influence and experience would be second to none. We SHOULD have sewn it up in the second half and Hazard's introduction was somewhat too late. However we do need to change our attacking style as all this possession in front of a packed defence just about worked in the second half of last year and we are only just getting by this year. Sadly, provoked or otherwise I am sick and tired of Costa's antics as soon a booking will lead to a suspension or a sending off. It is clear we have not progressed and the changes in the club I think will be significant.

I actually can't agree with you both. Costa was good last night as was fabregas. Oscar was non existant as was matic with mikel and Iva. And if we were to take anyone from watford it has to be ighalo.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 14:21:53
LRDit. Personally I would not take anyone from Watford going forward. I didn't say Costa played badly, it is his antics which I found tiresome and the risk to the team all the time. Different characters but Drogba got the same hassle and did not get involved like Costa, he just kept falling over as if shot! I agree also that Oscar is too often non-existent for long periods of the games he plays and as talented as he is the PL does not suit his frailties.

04 Feb 2016 18:17:28
Have only just woken up after last night's 1st half performance sent me to sleep! Oscar - he played in the hole behind Costa last weekend and scored a hat-trick - last night he was played as a left winger with Hazard on the bench - I think the blame should lie firmly with Guus not Oscar. Agree totally about Deeney - such a clever player - I'd like to see him selected for England.

Thought terry showed he still has it tonight and unless a top, top class centre half comes in, then he should stay another year at least. I think Mikel gets a tough time from Chelsea fans but I very rarely see him have a bad game. He slated a lot for doing his job basically, like easy pass and just sit in front of defenders. Matic is a good player has a tendency to go and join attacks leaving the other holding player trying to cover him, and in some cases this has been cesc who is not really great at the defending side of the game. Also thought our play was really slow and predictable. I'm still confused by how managers come in and play the same formation all the time. When is one of them going to have the balls to think out the box and try something different. Let's drop one of the holding players and occupy defenders with another forward and play two strikers.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

04 Feb 2016 05:32:50
In my opinion Terry has to be around next season period. If this season doesn't display that the team vastly lacks leadership then I must be blind. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be interested in looking for another top class centreback in order to start cutting his minutes down but you absolutely can't put a value on what he brings to the club from a leadership standpoint.

Agree4 Disagree1

04 Feb 2016 18:19:13
I agree about the lack of leadership when JT is not playing but we have to weigh that against our defence having to sit so deep to accommodate his lack of pace.
