Chalobah just won the England youth player of the year. If you were in charge would you have him play as a centre half or a centre mid? Personally I think he could have an impact sooner as a centre half and also has a fabulous frame for the position.

Tk

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I honestly think we may have 3 really promising centre backs in our ranks. chalobah, kalas & omereu *spelling

Agree2 Disagree0

His abilty to control the midfield is world class, maybe this in years to come

Curtois

Az-Cahill-Ivan-cole
Oscar-Chalobah-KDB
haz-Kraken-mata

Chalobah and lyiz rotate and kalas occasionally playing in ivans spot

Billy

Agree1 Disagree2

Don't think either Ivanovic or Cahill are here for "years to come"

JG

Agree4 Disagree1

Chalobah has been outstanding this year for Watford, a dreaded loan in the Premier League may suit him for next season.

I see him eventually taking over from John Terry as both Center Half and Captain. But, as said, he is also outstanding in midfield.

Surewould

Agree3 Disagree0

Ivanovic will be the only bit if experience we have mate as with Cahill, fine then be stubborn just replace them with kalas and ake, it will be well experienced. Not

Who's Karken? DJ

Agree4 Disagree0

Kalas won Czech republics BLUEBOY1

Agree0 Disagree0

Lukaku is kracken DJ, WAGNH nickname for him

Billy

Agree1 Disagree1

Billy, Ivanovic is turning 29 and is not exactly a world beater. Cahill is in his prime age, but is not showing great class either. Bith are experienced winners at club and international level and either of them can do the job in rotation. But you can see for yourself that when they are asked to carry the load of minutes required and be immediate starters, they do not produce the level required.

There's too big of an age gap to think that these two will carry on, until Chslobah and Ake are ready. This ain't no computer game, Billy. That is not how it works. I am sure we'll bring in another center back in the upcoming transfer windows.

JG

Agree0 Disagree1

I could easily see chalobah being fazed in next year as terry starts getting less time. Bran and Cahill are at their peak and not what I would call world beaters and I could even see bran moving on as kalas does the same thing that bran does. This is obviously probably 2 summers or so down the line that Ivan and Cahill get moved on.

Tk

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should either go for Hummels and let Ivan go at the end of the campaign, or sort out the midfield and play Luiz and either one of them if Hummels can't be brought in. One thing I know is that Cahill and Ivanovic are ok, but they ain't great, or let alone elite.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right jg, kalas and ake in centre but I'm sure we need someone like howedes or subotich or hummels, as I see Chalobah more of a midfield player

Think we all need to realise this season is far from over we need champions league football next yr for defo but were still in F. A cup and Europa cup but most of all we need to get mourinho back sooner the better and let him do is thing raft was never going to wrk even if he had done ok to many thins gone off before with Liverpool and I think it will get worse before its gets better I'd put elmando (spelling sorry) in charge and push for Jose many thanks

Emenalo in charge? He needs to go before, yet still quickly followed by, Benitez!

Manchester City and Chelsea have been warned by Uefa they will have to prove they are not 'cheating' financial fair play when the new rules come into force for the 2014/15 season.

Uefa today published its annual benchmark report which warns two English clubs - understood to be City and Chelsea - are among 46 across 22 European countries who could fall foul of its financial rules based on 2009-2011 figures.

Are we one if the clubs eds or is this journo making assumptions?

I am a Jose Mourinho fan, but I don't necessarily think he is the answer to our prayers, just because he was successful first time round doesn't mean he would second time, he came when the Chelski revolution was just starting off and money was thrown around to make his stamp on the team. this time with ffp coming in he wouldn't have that option, and the football he implements is "Boring".
The benefits of the prodigal son returning, he would shake up the team bring around a new era, but in all a new direction wouldn't be a bad idea I like the idea of Klopp or even Michael Laudrup or Steve Clark and at a push I even think David Moyes would all be a good choices so to take Mourinho back maybe a step back when what we need is a big step forward.
Thoughts?
One Bomb Tom

Believable1 Unbelievable7

He may not be the best suited but he is the best available and the best that will entertain coming to our club.

Tk

Agree2 Disagree0

Do Real play boring football?

IB.

Agree2 Disagree4

Klopp - no experience of England and its highly likely he wouldn't come to chelsea. steve Clarke - do me a favour, about as much charisma as a brick. doesn't fit as chelsea manager and would be sacked within 6 months. We need the next manager to hit the ground running and someone that Roman trusts to give some stability back to the club. we would be champions within 3 seasons with Jose back. Let's start letting Roman know now.

Agree4 Disagree1

I'd rather moyes than Clarke all day long!
Cfcmatt

Agree4 Disagree0

As a neutral. which quality manager in his right mind want to work for Chelsea, apart from the money that is.

Agree3 Disagree0

The same reason managers would want to manage inter, bayern, madrid all of whom have had similar no. s of managers to chelsea in the last 10 years.
managers want to manage the best players and the best teams. isafacht.

jscottjr

Agree1 Disagree1

Notice how I put boring in quotations, we as chelsea fans don't say how many games we won 1 - 0 when we won the prem in 05 all you remember is picking the trophy up at the end of the season, but no complaints if Laudrup was offered the job?

whats jose mourinho doing with a 300 mill real team?
nothing. his game is one dimensional. boring than benitez.
he can't handle ronaldo.
he had a big eggo and arrogance in his mind of beating and suprassing barcelona.
now when he realised he failed misserably.
he just want to get out and making some useless excuses.
and with all respect. he owuld be the first manger in la liga history to take real to their lowest league table finish.
mark my word.
we need a younger manager. who has a vision. and a project in hand. and most importnat we need patience. which our fans doesn't have.
wen we loose one game. we think of selling and buying players.
thats nonsense.

All I want is stability at the club, on and off the pitch. The two go hand-in-hand. All the fans calling for Rafa's head already and what next? The next person comes in, inherits a team in disarray and the draws and losses keep coming. It's not long before fans are asking how long he's got left. and the cycle continues. I've been a Chelsea fan all my life and times like this are so difficult to watch sometimes, but we NEED to back the club as a whole - the squad, Roman, Rafa - if we're going to push on in the 2nd half of the season and push City for 2nd. KTBFFH!

LJ.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I agree we need stability but at what price, the waiter is not the man. The season is over we need to get fourth and I don't care who we get in to do it but while the waiter is at the helm it will not happen.

Agree1 Disagree1

Confidence is the big issue with the whole team right now, they have no confidence to defend a lead when a team, any team, starts attacking them.

If our results were down to a lack of ability on the pitch I'd put it down to the players, but to be honest, for the main part, I don't even see a lack of effort from the players and they certainly have the ability.

Confidence is something the manager has to give the team - no matter what ability or level those players are at; its down to the manager to instil confidence. Rafa clearly hasn't been doing this.

I don't see Rafa going now and don't see the point is shaking the whole of the senior coaching staff up now, but it will eventually be needed. Unless Jose will come now we have to sleep in the bed the club has made and hope for the best.

ed. why on earth did we let sturridge go out?
i know he is greedy, attittude, blaah blaah blaah.
but he is having aweosme game at liverpool.
I can guarantee. when some one threatens you with your opportunity to play for the national side. you would leave all your arrogance at home and play what you are supposed to do.
at 23. he is proving real buisness for Liverpool.
Yes we recieved 12 mill. but have you seen any striker leaving for 12 mill?
not even 30 year old bent or defoe leaves at 12 mill?

Nonsense.
his goal against hart was a hell to watch.
leme admit. we should have never sold him.

We are just gifting things to other players.
We should have sold torres and kept sturridge and ba at the club.

4 goals in 4 games is a good piece of return on your money. something torres took 35 odd games to do so. {Ed002's Note - If a player wishes to leave and the club get an acceptable offer he can move on - that is what happened.}

Believable4 Unbelievable2

04 Feb 2013 09:12:18

what was our coaching staff and other doing in the club. how can you sell a 23 year england striker?
was he not in the plans of the manager?
neither liverpool aew in Cl nor they are challenging title. he went for footballing reasons.
this is ridiculous. {Ed002's Note - He wanted to go because he wanted to play in a particular role.}

perticular role. ?
CF right?. and is he bad in that role?
torres was awful at times. why he was not choosen ahead of torres.
chelsea played with one triker.
whether its 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

Agree1 Disagree0

We could have done more to keep him. Why couldn't we have switched to a 4-4-2 for some matches because that is pretty much what Liverpool appear to have done, either that or if he is playing out wide he certainly has a lot of authority to come inside. Him and Suarez will destroy teams from now on. The fact is as usual we have let players go we shouldn't have. Scott Sinclair, Matic, Borini to name a few and now Sturridge. Our whole transfer policy is a complete joke!

Agree1 Disagree0

You can have him back for 50 million and mata, great deal

Agree2 Disagree0

You lot make me laugh, most on hear didn't want Sturidge when he was here, he didn't perform and didn't suit our style of play. Now he's gone you all think he's wonderful, fickle isn't the word! As the ed said HE wanted to leave!

Once the players that I'd either want to leave the squad, or expect to leave the squad, this is how I see it looking.

Turnbull and Hilario to leave - Courtois to return from his loan and Blackman to act as understudy to him and Cech.

I don't expect much to change as far as the defence is concerned, I'm personally happy with Azpiliqueta at RB with Cahill and Terry at CB and Cole at LB. Ivanovic can cover at RB and CB and Luiz can come back into cover the CB's. Bertrand is suitable cover at LB (not LW), but the ideal situation would see Shaw signed from Southampton and loaned back for next season; after which he'll be set to take over from Cole.

Midfield I'd like to see Luiz stay in the holding role, I really like him there. Oscar sitting deeper as a Xabi Alonso style deep playmaker really makes a lot of sense to me. At the moment, on form, Lampard would join them but he won't be there next season. Ramires plays well in a three man midfield but I'd hope a new central midfielder will be brought in over the summer - Fellaini would be my favourite.

I'd line Mata and Hazard up as wingers on paper but wouldn't deploy them in that fashion - give them the freedom to roam infield and switch sides during the game.
De Bruyne will be a very valuable addition to the squad when he comes back next season. A tough decision may need to be made by both the club and McEachran.

Torres will leave in the summer! We need a main striker, another talisman; Ba is not that man. Cavani or Falcao are the best two options; I'd be happy with either but prefer Cavani. Could do with another Striker who offers something different too - Lazar Markovic is young but would be a decent addition to the squad.

Surewould

Believable5 Unbelievable1

FairPlay decent post.

I would just change a few things I too apart from our returning loanees we only need two major signings which I hope are Falcao/Cavani and Fellaini. Although with the presence of Fellaini I would play him in front of Oscar and Luiz and behind Falcao/Cavani.

My Squad:

GK: Cech, Courtois, Blackman
RB: Azpilicueta, Kalas
LB: A. Cole, Bertrand
CB: Cahill, Terry, Ivanovic, Chalobah
CM: David Luiz, Oscar, Ramires, Mikel, Romeu
CAM: Hazard, Mata, Fellaini, Moses, Marin
ST: Falcao/Cavani, Ba

Out On Loan - Wallace, Van Aanholt, Clifford, Ake, Kane, McEachran, Piazon, De Bruyne, Lukaku

Out - Hilario, Turnball, Ferreira, Lampard, Benayoun, Malouda, Torres

KDB needs to be in the squad full time if he's as good as everyone is saying.

Oscar deeper role for sure, mceachran as his understudy.
