Could it be true? oh! Please God let it be true. Just to see the faces of Man U fans! Who could Ed018's 'one more player coming in' be? Rumours flying around that we are pushing to complete a deal for Paul Pogba.

What?! Mrs Costa, where did u read it? Where does it come from? Can u tell me?

Not a prayer of that deal happening

Fingers crossed, but I really doubt that we can manage to make it happen.
Our priorities are left back and central defender (maybe right back if we move Ivanovic on CD position).
I am expecting Cuadrado to leave as well.

Considering how Cuadrado changed to number 11 this summer, I think it is fair to say he is staying for now

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 07:52:41
Only if we're unable to sell him. Juventus is interested in Cuadrado but they're not ready to pay at least decent price.

They've sold Vidal to Bayern, There's no way they'll be selling Pogba.

Hi Ed,

Do you know if there is any issue with chelsea's home grown quota for this coming season.
Thanks in advance for answering.
Cheers

{Ed018's Note - I don't think so}

04 Aug 2015 20:24:35
Can't imagine so. Begovic replaces Cech which adds an additional non homegrown slot. Falcao replacing drogba yields no change. Rahman replacing Felipe Luis would also yield no change. The only others brought in were u21s therefore not counting. I'm not sure if anyone has gone from u21 to non homegrown but by my count we gained a non homegrown slot.

Begovic is a home grown player.

Check out if you don't believe. Begovic is definitely home grown.

Dominic Solanke has comlpeted a loan move to Vitesse for the season. Good move in my opinion. Considering he's only 17, its a pretty aggressive first loan for the lad but Vitesse don't have many striking options so he's likely to get plenty of minutes. Good luck to him.

Feel like a rant: Ramires? What did he do against Arsenal except miss a sitter? Ok, he runs around a lot but my puppy does that and no one is suggesting she should play in our midfield (and I think she would have scored that header)! Ramires will always be a Chelsea legend for his Barcelona goal but his time is up - Taxi for Ramires!

I have to agree if we want to move forward as a team we need better quality on the ball. I'd have preferred to see Loftus start but that's not going to change with Mourinho is it. I'm gutted we never went for Schneiderlin in the summer he could of covered for Matic and played beside him we missed a trick there. I'd personally throw RLC in at the deep end but as a box to box midfielder he's not a holding mid.

04 Aug 2015 15:33:08
With me, I feel like Chelsea need s.o better than Ramires and Mikel either.

I know there are lots of Mikel fan and they always say about Mikel as a loyal - silent veteran, servant. I know all of those factors but Mikel is not playing at the level we need even for a subtitution. He is slow and lazy already. Selling him doesn't mean that we don't like him. Just we need to let him go to a place that he can play regularly - enjoy the footbal and maintain the team competition ability.

But it seems like not the time for replacing those two cause the better replacements will be more expensive and we are saving.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Aug 2015 15:52:56
Daton the lazy players don't last long in Mourinho's team (De Bryune) ,Mikel is not lazy .

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Aug 2015 16:27:57
At last support that Ramires should go. I cannot understand the support he gets here and by Mourinho. I accept Mikel is not first team but he is effective when we want to close a game out. Excluding his Barcelona goal, just wiped a tear away, Ramires and side-kick Mikel have produced next to nothing going forward. I understood Mourinho's comment about Loftus-Cheek ball watching which you could see but when he runs with the ball he looks potentially classy and I hope he gets the softer games under his belt as he is one of the best youngsters I have seen Chelsea put out.

04 Aug 2015 16:38:11
No not lazy headless chicken comes to mind

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Aug 2015 16:45:26
I knew that. But its not from what I saw in Mikel performance. And the reasons that De Bryune is that he doesn't track back - or lazy in game is also oke. But his position is CAM while Mikel position is DM and he hardly moves out of his spot.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Aug 2015 17:47:15
I'm not a fan if Mikel for a number of reasons. too often slowing the game down (our transitional play takes a massive hit); in big games he loses possession under pressure (particularly with his back to goal); as for closing games out, he failed to do that in a few games last season - tbh, I think Zouma has that mantle now. Mikel fares okay in run of the mill games and has been a loyal squad member for years but we are overdue a change there now.

We badly need an upgrade in central midfield depth and sooner rather than later. I'd have liked Kondogbia/Allan for either or both of Ramires & Mikel but they're not options any longer.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2015 19:36:10
Accurate assessment Steve, add to that he is terrible in the air for his size and terrible defending on set pieces especially corners, usually losing his marker. Also, next to our goalkeeper he is least likely to score for us, we need a better two-way player at DM.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2015 08:53:39
As much as I don't rate Ramires' quality on the ball his work rate, whilst playing counter attacking football cannot be questioned. He was by far our best player throughout the season in 2012.

Danny Rose? Name your price for Danny Rose? That is not a believable story! If it does happen then selling Bamford to Southampton has proved to be a severely questionable decision!

Danny Rose? Ummmm interesting. I do think the price being asked for Rahman is outrageous. And forget Stones and go buy Alessio Romagnoli.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

04 Aug 2015 11:20:26
I'm a big fan of Romagnoli - he's a future star of the Italian defence! Would still prefer Stones though.

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Aug 2015 12:43:40
Why would you prefer Stones over Romagnoli, J? Is Stones better or is it just because he's homegrown?

Agree0 Disagree2

04 Aug 2015 13:34:31
No Jackson, its not just that pal. I do like the thought of having a strong English core at Chelsea, but I don't see the point of signing English players just for the sake of it, just to fill a quota - see Delph moving to City as an example of that. Romagnoli is one of the best young defenders in Italy, just like Laporte is one of the best young defenders in Spain (and a player I really rate). However John Stones is one of the best young players in England, a proven Premiership defender, that's why I rate him higher than the other two; he has experience of the league - if the others had that I might have a different opinion. I do think all three of them could, potentially, captain their national sides and don't see a bad signing out of any of them.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Aug 2015 14:09:33
Agree with you J. It's always nice to have an English core. Romagnoli looks a good player on YouTube but Italy's a defensive league where they're made to look better than they are. Cuadrado is a fine example of that although I still have high hopes for him turning it around this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Aug 2015 16:33:59
J. Good answer. I like Chelsea to have a strong English hub as that is where the defence is controlled from and is vital in our league and I would take Stones over the others all the time. Premiership experience is invaluable and is unlike other leagues where competition at a high level is often six or so games a season.

Ed018, it's been rather quiet on the question front lately I was just wondering if you had heard anything from any of the other eds or anything you might know yourself about pending transfers (Ins and outs) other than possibly Stones + Rahman?
Thanks for your time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - all I know is they are actively looking at players. I didn't ask who or for what position. Other than Rahman and Stones I think there could be one more player coming in}

04 Aug 2015 11:19:51
Any idea who ed?

It's rumoured that Solanke will go to Vitesse on loan and that he's training with them since today. Would be a huge step for him since he's so young. But he sure is talented so it could pay off!

Thanks for the info Ed018.

04 Aug 2015 13:16:54
Most interesting Chelsea story of the day for me is that Solanke is training with Vittese with a view to a season long loan.

Cuadrado not getting a sniff of playing at the weekend (looking an exit in the face), both Solanke and Bamford on loan, Costa's hamstring looking as precarious as ever and no guarantee of 'the old Falcao' gracing the Stamford Bridge pitch!

I'd be very disappointed if it wasn't a striker / winger who joined along with potentially Stones and Rahman!

Ed, not asking you who the third signing could be as you e covered that, but have you got any point of view purely from a fans perspective on this?

04 Aug 2015 13:57:18
Callejon? Has Cuadrado / Salah written all over him!

04 Aug 2015 14:10:28
Please no Callejon! Another average winger who won't take us to the next level.

Chelsea could regularly start playing with two strikers upfront since Mourinho has mentioned it 2-3 times in last few days.
I still expect to se
4231 against Swansea. He will probably start playing with two strikers against Man.City.

04 Aug 2015 11:22:34
I think we'll defo see two strikers at times this year but I'd imagine he'd pack out the midfield against City.

Mourinho won't play two strikers against City. If anything he'll play them against Swansea.

If Costa's still out for the City game, Jose might well play with no striker.

Hi eds
We have seemed to be quite all summer and I was wondering what you thought the chances were of us signing a midfielder. Also are we likely to bid again for stones

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - yea I think you'll see another bid for Stones, I'm not sure about a center mid though right now}
