Without trying to be negative I don't think there's a chance of us finishing top 4 this season. Therefore surely our list of transfer targets will change. We need a new leader at the back because Terry's influence is now waning. I doubt the likes of Varane, Stones, Laporte and Marquinhos will want to join a team without European football. None of them are leaders anyway. I'd personally suggest Benedikt Howedes. He's an absolute monster but most of all he's a leader of men on the field. He's 27 and the finished article and I think he would be the best option alongside someone like Zouma who is more of an athlete.

Maybe give ivanovic a run at CB? He is actually center back and there you doesn't need that much speef.

Howedes is a pretty good shout.

{Ed002's Note - But Chelsea has no interest in him.}

I think it's a touch early to make calls about where we'll end up. There's also a January window and I wouldn't be surprised if the club were open to spending a good deal to ensure they don't miss out on the champions league money.

I know ed002, I just meant that he seems to have the required organisational/leadership skills to replace Terry.

1983 in the old 2nd division, 9 games without a win and needing a result at Bolton in the penultimate game of the season to avoid relegation to division 3 and probable extinction given the clubs dire economic situation. Step forward Clive Walker and the rest is history. That my fellow posters is a bad season! Step forward to Today which sees us as current Champions of England and playing in front of a capacity crowd tomorrow night in Europe's premier competition! Cheer up.

The next season went a bit better, though. Johnny Neal's blue and white army!

He was a great manager, John Neal. That was a good side he put together.

I know those days well and beyond and so we have seen more ups and downs than most and that is what annoys me when the younger fans call someone "plastic" because their favourites are criticised. Football was a dog eat dog sport then but today it is a cut throat business and players are paid accordingly which makes it even more annoying when they fail to turn up at matches. I disliked Gary Neville as a player but I have a lot of time for him as a pundit and his Chelsea assessments have been very good and cannot be a long way from what JM sees and maybe he noticed something last season which prompted his request for certain players, none of which he got. If we are to make meaningful changes I think we will only get them if Jose is onboard, a manager who many want to play for. He goes and players as well and we could replay 1983 again!

This is going to sound like a complete about turn but I now hope we keep Mourinho. My reason for this change of mind is the disgusting Press and media campaign to get him out. I would still like Jose to be more adventurous in his tactics but I don't think we should bow to media pressure.
Fabregas came out with a statement this morning completely backing Mourinho - well done to him - but I would like Hazard to do the same as it seems Hazard is the one who has fallen out most with the manager.
On Wednesday evening I hope the crowd sing Jose's praises long and loud and send a message not only to the Press but also to the players.

I've changed my mind too about him been sacked, I hope he stays. It's a shame what the english media will do just to get there way and ruin a man's career. Thinking about all he's being through recently, it's enough to make a man lose it (i've been through less and almost lost it all) . I feel for the man Jose not just the manager Jose as at the of the day he's a man like us. Peace.

I hope those ct the game on wednesday make their stand known to the world and stand behind our manager.

Mourinho will not be sacked. He might resign but he won't be sacked. And media was against us since RA took over the club.
I am much more concerned the way we play.

To anyone who wants mourinho out, are you serious? You want the club to continue hiring and firing managers willy nilly? Mourinho is the man, sure we get someone else in but for how long, until the feel good factor drops and they have a bad spell to be sacked again, come on really, mourinho should be backed all season, abramovich should come out and say mourinho is not leaving and if you don't want to play for him then leave there's no place in the team for shit attitudes like that! If anyone can get the team motivated and back onto track its JOSE. He's criticised so much because he's a special manager who gets special results no one is judged like him and to be fair when he says the referee has been shocking 9/10 times he's spot on, although that's no excuse it certainly doesn't help when you get denied a game changing moment.

I was wondering if anyone had any information on how well some of our young guns had been doing out on loan. Everything is going wrong at the club at the moment and I just thought to myself atleast our future is bright with the likes of rcl solanke and brown. So I thought I'd ask if anyone knew anything about how boga solanke brown and Christensen were doing on loan. Thanks to anyone who replies!

Solanke and Baker have both established themselves in the Vitesse team. Solanke has scored 4 goals in 9 matches and Baker has scored 2 and made 3 assists. Christensen have established himself as one of the most important players of Borussia Mönchengladbach, and is currently considered one of the reasons behind their 6 win streak.

Baker and Solanke are doing well at Vitesse. Brown and Nathan get some time as subs in most matches.

Will add to this: Houghton at Gillingham has been superb and along with Dack is considered to be many fans player of the season so far. Swift is also impressing for Brentford.
