Conte out Costa back in.

And while we are bringing Costa back let’s bring back KDB and Salah!
I’m afraid those ships have sailed.

You nailed it mate. Keep Costa and Matic and we would of challenged this Season. Sadly Conte lost the dressing room very early with his treatment of Costa. He has also treated Luiz, Hazard and Willian the same. Add in his moaning and you now know why we have struggled. We have very very good players. The club will buy as well. Also bring back loan players who might make the grade. Just need a new Coach who can pull it all together.

I’ve stated several times that I want Conte to stay and I’m ok with being in a minority.
The way our club operates I guess he will be sacked. This coming season could be one of massive upheaval.

How many times has a manager gone for "losing the dressing room" how many complaints about tactics or over work etc. maybe just maybe there is a common denominator into why the players stop playing for different managers. if only we could figure it out. (Only my views. could easily be wrong)

BigPhil. I think you make a very point!

Maybe I feel that the common denominator is that we don't fortify the team after a successful season.
This season we let 2 core key players (Costa and Matic) leave and brought in players of unequal ability (lower ability that needed to adapt) . If we wanted to fortify the team, we would have kept Costa and Matic and brought in Bakayoko and Morata. Refusal to fortify the team also happened in Mourinho's 3rd season.

Obinna, I can understand your point and I think it has some merit but it’s not as if the club spent zero, its just about the new players not performing to expectations.
My issue is the constant changing of managers means a constant change of back room staff, potentially playing style and players.
Of course the club and fans can quite rightly point to continued success which rather blows a hole in my argument but I would love some stability.

I agree that Costa would of been invaluable this season. However his attitude throughout his Chelsea career is what caused him to go, nothing else. Would of loved to have kept Matic that was a big loss.
Again can't argue that we could of done with fortifying our team. However I still think too many of our players either have to much sway or just stir up trouble if things aren't done to their liking. It seems that when we seem unable to win the league we start to give up.

U win the EPL (which is the most competitive league on earth- where more than six teams can attract the same quality of players you have) all of a sudden you appear in everybody's wet dream. I guess the key to achieving stability with a manager would be- SUPPORT the same manager that won the EPL to fortify the team for the coming season cos everyone would want to f**k you up.

For instance if Mancity doesn't add to their squad for next season, they should wait for IT cos it ain't going to be easy for them.

Diego Costa scoring for Atletico against Arsenal tonight.

I still feel it's such a shame the way things ended between Costa and Chelsea / Conte.

Had Costa had the chances Morata has had this season he would have easily had 20 odd league goals again this season.

I don't want to seem like I'm bashing Morata, but if he's still here next season we need to see a huge improvement from him, especially his finishing with his feet.

On a side note who do you guys want to start up front in the cup final? It's got to be Giroud for me, and bring Morata on with 20 odd minutes to go.

I think he will start with Morata and Hazard.

TomB, let's just hope we actually start with a striker, in many of the big games this season we've seen Hazard play as the sole striker/ false 9.

If we do that in the final I will be truly gutted.

Me too Bobby.
Although I think he will play 352 I would love Conte to go 433.

Depending on what happens with our manager and looking at posts on this site, the following could and some say, should happen!
OUTS. INS

Drinkwater/ Bakayoko. Seri/ Van Ginkel
Cesc. RLC
Michy/ Morata Tammy
Zouma
Alonso. Kennedy
Zappacosta. ?
Pedro. Hudson Odoi
Hazard. Bailey/ Ajax winger
Courtois Allison/ Oblak

£350mil ish in. £200mil ish out

I wouldn't be happy to sell players like Hazard, Courtois, Morata, Alonso or Bakayoko but some of guys might be?

Potentially the club could end up with a healthy return on its investments.

Main rule: Go back to 4-3-3 and change.

Sell Courtois - his attitude is toxic I don’t want him here. Oblak if we can as he’s better hopefully a swap although they don’t happen much.

Cahill to leave, Zouma to return. I’d like to see Alderweireld brought in as we lack leaders.

Sell Moses and Zappacosta both not good enough we need to recoup money for them. If we go back to a back four Azpi back to RB. I’d give Sterling his chance in the Europa and league cup that lad is more than ready physically wide it’s just whether he’s good enough.

Only sell Alonso if he wants to leave. He wouldn’t suit a back four but he’d be ok for rotation. Emerson has been impressive.

Fabregas and Drinkwater out. Cesc is quality on his day but his legs have gone. Loan out Baka and give him a chance for his confidence to come back. Loftus-Cheek and Van Ginkel to return. We need a quality box to box CM in hopefully either Milinkovic-Savic or Kovacic.

Sell Pedro, buy Bailey. Sign a left footed right winger to show us how we should play. Like when we had Robben. Hazard, Bailey, Willian and Hudson-Odoi is a fantastic attacking unit.

Morata and Giroud as the strikers unless Morata wants to leave. Maybe give Batman his chance but he doesn’t work hard enough for me.

Frank, I respect your summary and views but your comments about Courtois being toxic baffles me!
The overwhelming reports about Courtois and his supposed desire to leave our club have, in the main, been our press picking up on partial comments made in the Spanish press.
I’m indifferent to him being sold but he is always one of the players to go to the away supporters and when we have put in crap displays he is always one of the players sent out to front up the media.
It is true that his children are based in Madrid and it’s only natural that he would like see them more often.

Miss Wood, my post was meant to reflect the views of my fellow posters and the media but if we replace some of the potential sales with in-house solutions the owner might not have to dip into his pocket.

Courtois should have never been brought back to Chelsea in the first place. I feel the club sacrificed and paid him so much for him to want to leave after 4 seasons (in his prime) - citing family proximity as his reason.

* Letting OUR GREAT, BETTER AND COMMITTED GOALIE (PETER CECH) go to Arsenal- a rival club - all cos of Courtois.
* Paying Courtois top dollar just to keep him happy.

Now he wants to go when the club isn't in a good moment and you see players like Hazard saying, 'I want Courtois to sign an extension before I can commit too to Chelsea'.

I think Courtois knew what he was doing when he decided to come to Chelsea; I feel maybe he just wanted to make some money and go back to Spain. If Courtois doesn't sign a new deal he isn't a good guy.

a bit over the top with the courtois status he's a top keeper cech is about 36 when courtois came back he was 21 or something an cech was 32/ 33 so what do u want the club to do sell some1 for 30 million whos now worth about 70 for a keeper whos worth nothing now due to his age chelsea is a buisness it made sense to keep courtois but he is top keeper an i wouldn't knock the club for making him number 1 an keeping cech. petr cech hasn't stood out or really came back to damage us i don't think the club saw arsenal as a big rival anymore anyway.

Magichandshurley, I like where you said, He's now worth 70mil (cos that's the only advantage that Chelsea could get or he might also be worth way less after his gaffe this season) but let's wait till we see how much he's sold for- this summer or 'better' still he goes for free in 16months time- taking Hazard with him.
My G, it annoys me whichever way I look at it. Why give me sugar, only to take it away when its sweetest in my mouth.

It won't be bad if Chelsea can do a swap deal involving M. Alonso (if he wants to join Barcelona) and Umtiti- (if Umtiti wants to join Chelsea) then bring back Kenedy as the second LWB for next season cos Kenedy is doing so well at Newcastle and deserves a shot at Chelsea (the number of big clubs interested in him is testament to his ability.

I remember that Ed001 said that Courtois would be interested in a Madrid club (which includes Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid) . if Athletico Madrid are interested in Courtois- maybe Chelsea can look to a swap deal with Athletico Madrid for Jan Oblak (if Oblak would want to join Chelsea) . Chelsea will need a good goal keeper next season.

I would gladly take Oblak in place of Courtois; I have always thought he was over-rated, not in the prime Cech class although better with crosses. If we reinvest the money then Alonso to Barcelona would be good business, he is too slow for my money and he would be under pressure from Palmieri who 'could' be an exciting player next season. I would prefer Koulibaly over Umtiti, primarily because of his physical stature although both are very good. It is Kenedy where I would disagree; looks good in an average team and he has had his chance with us I feel and we would look to sell.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 May 2018 14:40:18
Kenedy is improving and maturing with every game 'in the EPL'- it means he has the ability to play in the EPL and won't need to adapt. It'll be a big mistake to sell him cos he will save Chelsea a lot of money and his model of game is one that Chelsea can do with esp if we wanna play attacking football. Arsenal, PSG, Bayern Munich, Newcastle, Liverpool are all clubs he's being linked to (means he has something) .

03 May 2018 21:12:42
Obinna:- Time will tell but and it could be paper talk, they quoted Chelsea wanting £20m for him. Whatever monies we get for sales I hope RA adds it to anything else he was going to spend to enable us to have an overhaul.

I think we should go for Nick Pope from Burnley - the right height / shape for a GK - home-grown - right age - just broken into England squad - and Burnley have Tom Heaton fit again so would probably sell.
