Use our rumours form to send us chelsea transfer rumours.

Hopefully that's nearly enough to secure 4th for us at least, a 5 point gap to Arsenal now.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Man u and liverpool away to come, might not get any points especially with saurez and sturridge out to prove a point. We also have spuds ay home. Other fixtures we should, if we play well, be able to win. But you never know with chelsea what is around the corner.

Agree7 Disagree1

If we can't get points against teams like Liverpool and Spurs then we don't deserve a top 4 finish. We've got more than enough quality to see them both off, we just need to settle down and start playing the way we are capable.

Agree3 Disagree8

We were just 8 points off of Arsenal a little while ago and I was told here by someone that we are guaranteed a top4 finish. In another years i'd agree. I doubt it still this time around. We got London derbies coming up. Both easily doable on paper. But we only have managed 1 point from first attempt.

Agree0 Disagree0

We were 4pts. behind Man U when the Spanish waiter came on board.

seeing of liverpool and spurs?
what are you talking,.
gerrard and co will eat lampard and ramirez.
and with our strikers not scoring any goals. and liverpool scoring 3-4 goals every home and away.
you still believe we will see them off.
lets be honest. spurs have a better team than us now.
and how fortunate we are they failed buy diamo.
i am sure. AVB will have a point to prove against Roman.

thinks looking really shakky.

Arsenal have the easiest fixtures ahead. and never mind. everton too are in a good position.

Agree9 Disagree3

Look at where we are currently in the table with our terrible recent form. Now look at where Liverpool are. Now tell me again about how Liverpool are going to 'eat us alive'.

In the midst of our recent problems it's easy to forget that we're still an extremely quality side. Neither Liverpool or Spurs will be looking forward to playing us, you can be absolutely sure of that.

Agree2 Disagree5

Liverpool can't wait to play you. It's just we have this problem that we can't beat a side above us and we think we can beat you at home as we for the last couple of years.

I would agree with only one man coming in come July. Jose Mourinho. Him and loan players coming back shoyld make us a fantastic team.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I'd agree with anyone as long as its not Benitez.

Dont want capello either!

team for next year

cech
Azpilicuata Luiz Cahil Cole
Khedira Lampard
Mata Isco Hazard
Benzema

Believable1 Unbelievable10

Lampard next year? I'd rather play Oscar or Luiz next year

Agree9 Disagree5

I wouldn't want Benzema on free transfer. He's overrated. Bemba Ba is a much better striker. How can you be at a team like Real and not be a top scoring striker?

Agree3 Disagree6

Now it's clear to everybody that neither of you have a breeze about football. Oh the comedy sometimes!

possible team for next season?

cech-new gk

azpi/kalas cahill/iva terry/ake cole/bertrand

rami/KDB Luiz/Fellaini/Mikel Oscar/Romeu

Mata/Moses Hazard/Schurrle
Falcao/Ba

It's more likley luiz takes ake's place though

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Lukaku!

Agree2 Disagree2

Yea I second that motion, lukaku has to be there and I don't see us getting fellaini, I think when back romeu will be our main man, Oscar beside him, I would throw kalas in the deep at cb (I think he'll react positively) and sign a lead by example player like Falcao, it will motivate our impressionable youngsters (all have character to be brought out of them) keep lamps and terry around and on the fringes of first team, Benitez is actually managing them very well tbh resting them to nurse niggles, it's worked in that respect but he's got things wrong in other places he should still go. I don't think Jose is the key but wouldn't be devastated at all if he comes but would prefer a Moyes or hiddink. Sorry for long post
Danny

Agree0 Disagree0

A moyes or Hiddink? How can you compare the two and further up the page tell someone they are clueless Danny? Pot, kettle comes to mind

Agree0 Disagree0

I told you and another poster! If you read the post I'm not actually comparing, you might want to look up the word in the dictionary for its meaning because you obviously don't have a clue. I just simply stated I'd prefer Moyes or hiddink.

Looking back at Guus Hiddink's spell as manager he had quite a remarkable record.

15 wins 5 draws and 1 loss with a win percentage of 71%

Contrary to mourinho's tenure we were actually scoring almost 2 a game

In our current system, with our current style of play, I don't believe it to be reasonable to expect a striker to score thirty or thirty five goals in a season; twenty goals should be considered as somewhat of a very decent return.

I'm not jumping to Torres' defence here, he simply hasn't performed to a high enough level in general play; and I'd still expect a striker to pop up with important goals - ala an in or out of form Drogba.

When you look at our set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation you'd expect to see lots of crosses into the box from the two natural, chalk hugging, wingers and through balls thread through defences from a playmaking number ten. That's not how we play. We hardly ever cross balls into the box and when we do get crosses in these are generally supplied by advanced full backs. Moses, and maybe Marin, are the only two players who play as wingers and, although I like Moses as a squad/impact player, neither of these have supplied the top quality for a striker to feed off on a consistent basis.

Hazard, Mata and Oscar are obviously extremely good footballers but none of them look at their best out wide. They all play lovely intricate passes and flicks to each other that often result in one-twos in and around the box. We need a striker who can come deep and play in this style with them - a striker who will often be called upon to supply the final pass rather than the goal; this doesn't play to either Torres' or Ba' strengths. Ba, like yesterday, will get goals from set pieces but, like Torres, will continue to look lost in the general play of this system.

A striker in the form of Suarez or Rooney would suit our current system very well but I still wouldn't expect much more than twenty goals a season from a lone striker in our current system.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Real madrid play 4231 and benzema and ronaldo always score more than 20, city play 4231 and aguero last season scored 24 in the league, and tevez a couple of years ago scored 20 0dd, when liverpool had torres and he scored 26 league goals and everybody was saying he's the best number 9 in the world, guess what they played 4231!its not the system its the player, oh and sometimes atletico play 4231 falcao need I say more?

Agree5 Disagree4

Agreed, someone like messi (example) who will drop back, Jovetic would be perfect, I fear for lukaku unless 433 comes back, with traditional wingers

This is probably the best post I've read here in ages. I've been of the same opinion, hence the reason I didn't want Sturridge sold. Sturridge would have been better playing alongside the amigos. Suarez will definitely not come to us, and I don't think Falcao is the answer.
Bas!cs

Agree4 Disagree1

No named first reply.

Did I not say I don't think Torres has been good enough and this isn't an excuse for him?

Torres scored 26 league goals in a Liverpool team that didn't play a brand of football that is anything like ours.

Ronaldo isn't a striker! Benzema' highest total league goals for Madrid is 21 (last season).

Aguero/Tevez are other players who would fit the mould of the strikers I mentioned - 24 goals is closer to twenty than thirty (basic maths).

I think you'll find At. Madrid play the 4-2-3-1 formation with wingers in a completly different style to us.

I don't think you need to say any more - at all!

Agree4 Disagree1

No named first reply, if you read your post again, those teams have great wingers with exceptional crossing ability. we have 3 play makers

taby

Agree1 Disagree1

What is Ronaldo if he ain't a striker?
Cfcmatt.

Agree2 Disagree3

He plays on the left side for Real - often cutting in! Similar role to Hazard!

Agree2 Disagree2

You all forget about Cavani he is quite similar to suarez and would be a perfect fit and a better choise than Falcao tbh he is also a year younger.

Agree0 Disagree1

Tyler. atletico last 3 games they played falcao numb er 9. adrian is a number 10. turan is a number 10 and costa who is a number 10 or second striker, all in a version of 4231 so you tell me were all these world class old fashion hug the touch line wingers are that falcao so needs to score his goals,

Agree2 Disagree0

Well I personally think Turan plays as more of a winger than either Mata, Hazard or Oscar. Adrian is a striker who can also play out wide - predominately on the right. I think.

I also neither stated that At. Madrids wingers are world class or that Falcao needs such players to score goals. In fact this is the first time I typed the word Falcao re. this.

Just because two teams play 4-2-3-1 it doesn't mean they play in the same style with the same tactics. From what I have seen of At. Madrid their style/tactics doesn’t mirror that of ours at all.
