Apparently we (along with United) have been offered Bale for 90 million. Wouldn't take him at that price honestly. Paper talk is sure fun to read!

03 Aug 2017 21:23:08
Damn it you beat me to saying it :) I'd be hoping some of that 90 is to cover medical fees!

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 22:35:40
Wouldn't do it. He's perma-crocked.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Aug 2017 23:38:21
If Neymar went for €200+m, how much do u think R/ Madrid will value G. Bale? They can't give him away at a loss on his transfer fee from Tottenham; so £90m isn't coompletely unreasonable.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Aug 2017 01:17:22
It's unreasonable when you realise Bale is crocked and unlikely to play more than 15games a season. And for a player who's been reliant on their pace, it pretty much means he's already past his best. Another Torres imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Aug 2017 01:57:00
Its not my money. Buy him.

04 Aug 2017 02:15:46
Always injured and for that money I'd go dembele of Dortmund.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Aug 2017 08:11:42
Based on this football market, I will become more afraid if someone sold me 'a Gareth Bale' for £50m-£60m. Crocked or no crocked, he's pure class.

2013-2017 100 games exactly for Real Madrid 54 goals.

Agree4 Disagree1

04 Aug 2017 12:27:08
What about last year how many games goals and assists, great player but injured too much and huge fee for a man made of glass,

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2017 16:13:09
That's 25games a year antibot. So less than half. And many of those games I'd wager he came on as a late-ish sub trying to regain match fitness.

Ed002- two questions. Number one, you seem pretty confident Chelsea will be fine after this window- are several more quality signings expected/ going to happen soon? Secondly, besides Alex Sandro, do we have interest in any other wingbacks?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has an ongoing interest in players but it would be correct to say that Sandro is a player the club are keen on. They will not buy for the sake of it.}

03 Aug 2017 20:11:47
Ok ed I got a question and I don't want any names just your opinion, if so far our transfer dealings is say an 6/ 10 what do you think it'll be when window shuts, no names or number of players in just in your opinion.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - 6/10.}

03 Aug 2017 21:12:16
Ed has reiterated he has no desire to discuss numbers or make predictions then you throw a question like that at him, come on man! Did anyone on this page even enjoy our success last season or did you all just immediately forget we won the league after our worst season in over a decade!

Hello Ed's and fellow Blues.

So far it's been a decent transfer window, with a few weeks to go. Couple of questions if the Ed's have time.

1) Any update on Kenedy's future? After the China drama.

2) Recent paper talk of Costa taking legal action to force AM transfer, is this allowed?

3) Any update on ins/ outs?

Thanks for your time Ed's. Hope your all enjoying the transfer window, keep the faith.

Hi guys, been lurching around for years on the site now. Great reading even with the negativity, it is all banter at the end of the day, we know we are the top club in England, fact, we proved that massively last year. I know it's not our money, and we shouldn't get to wrapped up in transfer news, but it's all good fun. Although who else is proud to be a Chelsea fan now we are showing great net spend compared to other top flight teams, i certainly am. We can brush of the stigma of "buying titles" and see it all as great investment. I personally see 2-3 more signings this year, maybe 1 youth, a wing back and a midfielder. Granted nothing spectacular, but depth.
Barkley would be a good English addition, in the market £40-50 million, is not a huge amount for a home grown premier league standard player, with great potential. Sorry for the wall of text. COYB!

Money spent on signings since 2008

£1228 Man City
£901 Man Utd
£843 PSG
£690 R. Madrid
£651 Barcelona
£542 Chelsea

Chelsea "buying titles"?

Dont think so.

Those figures surprise me. Are they correct.

ed, I understand you do not have time to provide a list of players we are interested in.

could you provide a list of positions we are still trying to sign players for. its ok if you are too busy but at least hearing the positions would give us fans an incentive as to how many players we will sign by the end of the window. I feel like we are 3/ 4 players short of a squad which could challenge on all fronts.
drinkwater
ox/ bark
candreva
llorente
this list seems realistic to me and would keep me happy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't have the time right now.}

All them players are bang average we won't challenge in Europe with our current squad.

If the rumours are true and we do sign Candreva, I believe it would be a great signing. Don't get me wrong he's not the most gifted but he will work his socks off up and down that right hand side, whether that be in a wing or wingback role. He's also a player Conte clearly trusts in from his time as Italy manager. Also Candreva is what you could call a Conte type of player, that being work work work and that is what Candreva does on that right side.

Any truth in the Candreva rumours Eds?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

03 Aug 2017 14:08:02
Really hope we'll get him! He did an amazing job for Italy at the Euros, I believe as a wing back. Regardless, I remember him as one of their better players!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - Candreva would be a good signing. I hope this can happen. Would prefer him to Oxlade-Chamberlin}

03 Aug 2017 16:41:37
Candreva better but ox is younger and English, probably only reason we're linked.

03 Aug 2017 10:25:14
If we look back a few years,

GK. we had Cech, arguably one of the best in the world during his time with us.

RB. Ivanovic, wasn't the most gifted but you knew what you were getting from him.

CB. Terry and Carvalho once again two of the worlds top CB's during their time with us.

LB. Ashley Cole, during his time with us he was undoubtedly the best left back out there.

CM. Lampard, Ballack and Essien. Three of the best cm's in their prime although Ballack was a little past his prime when he joined us.

ST. Drogba, easily one if not the best striker while he was here in his prime.

Now looking at these players, almost all of them would have walked into any side in the world. Now we have Hazard, probably Kante and maybe Courtois who would walk into most teams.

Then you look around Europe's big teams (Real, Barca, Bayern and Juve), half of their teams would walk into our first team. Now I know it's not all about having a team of superstars as Kante and others have proven, but to me it just shows how far we and the rest of the Premier League have fallen behind against the rest of Europe.

Believable10 Unbelievable4

03 Aug 2017 10:39:00
I understand what you are saying and I felt we should have been more dominant with those players than we were BUT the Premiership is ultra competitive and no other league will you find a top team regularly coming unstuck against someone in the lower half of the table, no other league is as intense. In Spain and Germany the big teams play a handful of very competitive games and the rest are virtually training matches and they then go into European games well practiced and less tired. Put the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the Premiership and of course they could win it but they would not dominate and we would see many, not all, of their so called superstars turn out to be very ordinary.

Generally one should accept that there are bigger and wealthier clubs.2004,2005,2006 will never come back again.

There are not bigger and wealthier. Chelsea were one of the few to turn profits. they've got plenty money just haven't splashed it needlessly like city.

03 Aug 2017 10:22:29
People are saying that we only sold fringe players and 2 from or staring 11 but replaced them wth like for like players. People say that the players we brought hold get into other big teams around Europe. Morata - is he really better than Costa? In not just saying this after a few bad performances but I don't rate him. 4 seasons as a backup striker never proven anything . Hopefully I'm proven wrong but there is no way 70m was worth it
Rudiger - seriously? He's not bad but he's not on par with azp and luiz. He's brought in to challenge/ replace Cahill but for 33m! We could have brought someone bette for around 10m more .
Sorry for the negative post but these are just my personal thoughts. Hopefully I am proved wrong and although I have these opinions I will back every player that puts in the Chelsea shirt.

Hazard to barcelona for 100m? they're havin a laugh aren't they? We want 198m for him.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

03 Aug 2017 09:43:36
If Liverpool rejected 80-100m for coutinho and neymar has gone for 190, Barcelona can transfer that straight across to us, I'm not saying his worth it, nor is coutinho or neymar but when compared we should get the highest fee,

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 10:44:16
Absolutely. Wether hazard is for sale or not. Barce have money and should be held to ransome. Personally i wouldn't sell as i don't know how we would replace him. And any new players coming in "need time to gel" and all that.
Its a player merry go round nowadays.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 21:46:01
I really don't think Coutinho is worth that much personally. If he's worth £100m then Hazard definitely has to be worth £150m+.
