Well i do not see much need of Victor Moses in our squad. I think he will even find difficult to make it on bench for regular games. He is just right side winger not a striker and hence wont be that important.
Remember guys arsenal were also rumored to be behind this player, but actually they never showed any inerest.
Arsenal having chamberlain, walcott, podoloski all of them are capable of playing on wings but yet wenger went behind cazorla because wenger knows in cazorla he finds as good as or even better option than walcott on right side wing.
If we are gonna go behind right wing player we should go for a player who can give us better solution, not the player like moses who will even find difficult to make it on our bench.
I know many of you will say he is young and still developing but then why to bring him give chance to kakuta, piazon,KDB -instead of sending him on loan

Am I missing something ??

Cahill was by far our best defender last season and yet everyone feels the need to bench him

Hard to choose between cahill-luiz-terry
sam

Agree4 Disagree3

Totally agree Cahill has shocked me since moving from Bolton. Excellent defender and my first choice centre back alongside terry. I personally do not like having luiz at centre back, he doesn't look comfortable to me and makes too many rash tackles. I believe he could make an excellent CDM.(luiz)

Well nuri sahin is available by real madrid get him and i guess he wont even cost 15 m before its too late and before arsenal grabs him. I guess 15 m will not be much for bundesliga player of the year 2010-11. He is young , energetic and would suit our playing style. He would perfectly fit as one of two deep lying midfielder in RDM's prefered 4-2-3-1 formation.
Essein has passed his peak, Mikel is decent squad player but will fail to keep the momentum going in our new attacking looks. Lampard is not going to get younger and will be benched more time than ever this season i guess. Meireles is inconsistent while romeu and josh maccharan are still developing.
I would suggest sell malouda, benayun, essein and invest that money to get NURI SAHIN.
We dont need to buy any right side winger we have enough players to play that role just need to get natural right back may be azplicueta a back up to ivanovic who is no doubt our first choice.
Its fancy but i would like to see this season
4-2-3-1 formation as

--------------------------cech----------------------------

ivanovic-------luiz---------------j. terry----------cole

---------ramires---------------------sahin-------------

mata-------------------oscar-------------------hazard

------------------------f.torres---------------------------

substitute: turnbull, cahill, azplicueta, lampard, mikel, marin, sturridge

Meireles, romeu, josh maccharan, bertnand, hutchston can not make to bench also but still will have some game time as we will be playing for 7 cups and will be rotating lot of players.
So where this will leave benayun, malouda, essein i guess out of the team.
Some of you wanted us to sign moses so where will he play, i guess he wont even make to the bench.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Agree with pretty much everything you said except I think we should keep Essien even if he ain't playing a lot cause he is a great squad member and is a legend at the club. He has showed signs of his old self this preseason aswell so could Give Mikel a lot of competition.

Agree2 Disagree0

I guess sahin deal wont happen for us but it was just my thinking to get him....if essein is fit and back to his best he will be the first name on the team sheet for one of the two pivot role. I really guess we will be keeping him till january and will see how he plays and then again we will decide about future.

Hi Ed, do you think Lucas Piazon will get a chance this year? He is absolutely quality, watched so may of his games and looks a constant threat i all of them

All the striker talk is so annoying in terms of the fact that we could have had the best striker in the world at our club last season, Falcao (in my opinion)... i would like to see Cavani but it doesn't look so promising as the noises from both him and Napoli aren't encouraging {Ed002's Note - He is a kid - opportunities will arise.}

Ed,

Has there been any interest from Chelsea in Nuri Sahin? I don't know if those rumors about him being available are true, but he has been linked to Arsenal in a season long loan.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - No.}

This is the time to buy NUSRI SAHIN he will come cheap may b less than 15 m , for a player who was voted bundesliga player of the year two seasons ago is not much.
Be realistic we have lampard, essein, mikel, romeu, meireles for 2 holding midfielders role,
essein has passed his best and it will never come back.
Lampard is getting old n slow.
Mikel is average and just a decent squad player even at his best.
Meireles is one of most inconsistent player in our squad.
Romeu is still too young to handle at his own.
If we do not get him now at lesser than 15 m .....n arsenal gets him then we will be running behind arsenal for the same player willing to pay 30 m after two yrs.
We are good enough in attack and defence area for this season but still i doubt about our two holding midfielders role.....
for arsenal it gonna be...
alex song, arteta, jack wilshere, abu diaby, nuri sahin which looks much stronger and better than
chelseas .....
essein, mikel, lampard, romeu, meireles

Mceacheran?

Agree0 Disagree1

Well i guess josh maccharan will be send on loan to get much needed playing time

Agree0 Disagree0

It is delusional all the Chelsea fans saying that josh should be in the first team. He couldn't make It into Swansea XI ! He will be in the Chelsea first team but not next year. It is delusional to think that u can rely on Josh to be Chelseas mid fielder next season. Don't put so much pressure on the lad, he will be ready in a couple of seasons, but Sahin could go into the squad right now.

Get NURI SAHIN who is available by real madrid a deep lying midfielder. I guess he wont cost more than 15m but we need to assure him he will playing time in chelsea fc, which i guess he can really fulfill. As essein has past his best and even may b sold if right offer comes. Lampard is getting older and slower so his legs will get tired so can not play every game. Mikel is just decent squad player. Meireles is one of most inconsistent player in our squad so i am up for sahin who else is?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I first talked about bringing Sahin in a
Couple of month ago but no one seemed to agree. I can't see the problem with it cause we can loan him for a year with the option to buy, so if he doesn't impress we are not stuck with him. He also wouldn't cost £15m considering Real got him for only £8m. He could add something different in our midfield.

Agree2 Disagree1

Real Madrid don't want to sell Sahin! Only loan him!

What do people think of hazard ?

If he fulfills his potential Do you expect him to finish his career with Chelsea ?

I'm interested by people's thoughts

BIFTW

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I personally think he has the potential to set the premiership alight. Great speed, touch, agility. I see him in a similar mould to Ronaldo - may start lightweight, but if he desires to improve as an all-round player he'll bulk up and get even better. Unfortunately I see him making a big money Ronaldo-esque move to Spain in a few years. If we get our money's worth and hopefully make a good return I won't mind so much, although I hope him an the club do well and he matures, showing loyalty to a team who took an expensive, although calculated, risk on him. Sorry for the essay.

I can't believe how this site the ppl who back torres who has been a total shambles for a fee of 50million and then say how bad sturridge is! Just look at his stats over the past 2-3yrs compared to torres!

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Sturrigde league starts 46 and 43 sub appearances 25 goals! Fa cup 8 starts and 3 sub appearances 8 goals! League cup starts 4 and 1 sub appearances 1 goals! Cost Chelsea 3.5 million! Snip! Do I have to say anymore! Goalscorer!

Pinky

Sturridge did not cost 3.5 million. There must be an appearance based fee too. Torres works hard for the team and sturridge works hard for himself. That is the difference.

Our defence is still as strong as ever. We are getting new talented attacking minded players such as Hazard, Marko Marin, Oscar and they will do well in the coming days. It seems RDM will again prefer 4-2-3-1 formation with Torres as our alone striker and he will be doing very well this season with the services of Mata, Hazard, Oscar.
But my concern is for the two holding midfielders. We have Lampard, Mikel, Essein, Romeu for these two places as well as we can can make shift Oscar and Ramires there.
Lampard is our club legend i respect him as much as you all guys but i would have him on bench and use as substitutes in more important games.
Mikel was good towards the end of season but there were so many other our attacking players helping him in the defencive duties. He can not keep the tempo going.
Essein once was renouned as the best defensive midfielder of the world. But with the injuries he has faced it seems he has passed his peak.
Romeu looks good sometimes and he can step in one of the place in future but we can not solely rely on him.
Oscar and Ramires can be make shift in those two positions, but again we do not how it will work converting attacking midfielders into pivot role.
If Essein gets fit fully and back to near of his best we do not require any new player for holding midfielder role. Because i consider Mikel at his best still a decent squad player. While lampard is getting old and slow and just doing this pivot role from half season.
I will seriously consider NURI SAHIN who is availbale by Real Madrid. He is very good defensive midfielder.
You guys may not agree with me.....
but i am for it.....

Sam

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Make shift ramires their? His position is centre mid!

Agree2 Disagree0

Ramires is an attacking midfielder and for us he played on the right wing in last season, even RDM did not tried to play him in pivot role in all pre season matches.
sam

Agree3 Disagree5

Ramires does have the potential to play as an holding midfielder. It will be interesting to see who RDM deploys in the center midfield.

Josh? alongside Essien or Obi in a 2 or Josh, Rami and Oscar in a 3?

Sell mikel!!!!!!!!!!

Agree2 Disagree1

This is wt annoys me people think the pivot 2 are both defensive which is 100 percent wrong. one will defend more say essien, mikel. the other one attacks lamps, ramires! or you can play 2 hu attack. ramires only played on the wing becausee of his tracking back. & he also played centre mid for benfica

Whats everyones opinion on Ganso and Lucas Moura? I have heard mixed reviews about both of them and they have both been heavily linked with a move to the prem. Never seen any of them play but I was just wondering if they were Chelsea material. {Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well we have Oscar so we do need Ganso. Oscar replaces Ganso in brazilian national team also plus ganso is injury prone. About Lucas moura seen him few times he likes to make dribbles and beat defenders with his pace though he is good in it he still needs to improve on his passing ability and needs to be more stronger for goal scoring.

Agree1 Disagree0

From what I've seen/heard they are rather different players. Well start out with Ganso who used to be touted as highly as neymar. He's a central midfielder that is a very good passer and likes a shot but isn't very mobile. Lucas on the other hand is a winger who can also play centrally. He's very fast and a good dribbler but he gets selfish and doesn't look to pass as much as he should. Oscar seems like a blend between the two but is more advanced than both (as made obvious by him starting over both). The player profiles are really good if you want a very detailed opinion.

Well be realistic guys, do not expect our new players to fire from the start. Hazard, Oscar, Marin are going to take some time. We will be playing different style of football next season and it will take some time to work. I expect us to get Club world cup and even may be one of domestic cup such as FA or Carling cup. Top four finish and quarterfinal in champions league is expected.

I've heard a lot of people putting Sturridge down and I do agree he gets the basics (passing, touch etc) but he will be a quality striker when he is older. He will grow with experience. I do think however though that we need another striker for now. Pato is a good option because he is a born goalscorer and he is injury prone meaning that Sturridge can get into the the team quicker than when he was behind Torres and Drogba. Also we should loan Lukaku to Fulham. They can nurture the big, powerful strikers like him (Zamora and Pogrebnyak). So that sounds like a great option. Don't rule Sturridge out though. Thoughts

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I agree with what your saying but what is the point in wasting all that money(and he won't be cheap) on someone who will be injured a lot!
Blue aero

Agree1 Disagree0

Buy a player who won't be cheap so he can get injured a lot and rotate with Sturridge because of that? I don't quite understand your logic?

LJ

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry guys. what I meant to say is that if Cavani doesn't come here then Pato would be a great recruit. However I meant that Sturridge would be great backup if Pato were to get injured. I didn't mean that Pato should get injured for Sturridge to come in. My apologies for that lads

Agree0 Disagree1

Pato is only about 20, bout the same age as Sturridge and he is better in my opinion tbh, i do think if Cavani's Transfer falls through, Pato would be a clever option to consider

Has anyone considered the possibility that with Chelsea being short a striker or two, Sturridge could be given his shot at playing as an "out and out", especially with Marin, Hazard, Mata etc all playing in the wide roles...? If Torres got injured i would gladly see Sturridge step in and fill the gap. With hijm in the centre and Hazard, Marin and Mata behind and beside him, i dont think any PL club would fancy their chances... and thats as a back up to Torres for the central role. That being said, a young striker to replace or compliment Torres/Sturridge longer term would be nice.
