Ok eds just your opinion there's been a lot of strikers thrown into the hat on here and though transfer window hasn't opened yet there comes a point where were going to place a big bid in for one of the strikers. Your opinion who? U think! Many thanks great work {Ed018's Note - I'm pretty sure they would like Cavani but there is interest from the other clubs so I'm not sure if a deal can be reached}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The other interest in Cavani is from RM and City ed? If RM get Suarez do you think they'll still go for Cavani? {Ed018's Note - yes and I wouldn't think so}

Agree0 Disagree0

We must sign Cavani now Falaco is gone if we want to seriously challenge for the title. Lukaku is not ready yet and he needs a couple of years before he gets to that level. Now, I think between us and MC he will play more football with us so all it remains now is a good offer. Proitos

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it would be interesting to have both Lukaku and Cavani in the squad, they could play together and I believe compliment each other well, I have my fingers firmly crossed for Cavani's arrival.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jose loves a strong CF, so I think he may well keep Lukaku. And if we get Cavani, well I'm sure he will score plenty for us and help Lukaku develop

Cfc Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

It is true Mourinho likes hold up CF which Cavani is not. He is type of striker like Torres. I believe Gomez&Benteke are hi type of CF.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair one, I think he will give Lukaku a go though. His young and could be groomed my Jose, in a non sexual way

Agree0 Disagree0

Lukaku will get his chance under Mourinho, I am abs. sure about that.

What do people think of Gary Cahill, is he really good enough or likely to be good enough to stay at Chelsea. I have my doubts. Dan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He plays well, but for me he has never shown that he is a truly world class defender, strikers can get the best of him, and I cannot see that he brings much to the team as the likes of Terry does (did) and Luiz does.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree doesn't bring much think he's to slow

Agree0 Disagree0

He gives his all every game, as a fan I can't ask for more. As a 3rd or 4th choice centre back he is more than decent

Agree0 Disagree0

But he does score some important goals

Agree0 Disagree0

Too slow? Only Luiz is faster than him. Both Iva and Terry are slower than him. Personally I think he's been pretty good, not world class. Definitely a useful player as 3rd choice or a starter with the right partner.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's a very nice #3 option. He's rather mobile and very serviceable in the air (I'm not sure who said he's slow). If he's fine with not being an automatic selection I think he's good. Add to that he's homegrown and overall I can't think of a better player to have in his position.

Tk

Agree0 Disagree0

Cahill is a quick centre back running! On the turn and stop start he looks like jt.

The players we have signed since Emanalo became technical director on 8th of July 2011:

Feruz
Mata
Romeu
Meireles
Lukaku
Courtois
KDB
Cahill
Moses
Azpilicueta
Oscar
Hazard
Ba
Marin

Only one dodgy signing! Not exactly the plague everyone claims him to be. And I remember Ed saying that Meireles was AVB's choice signing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree

PB1989

Agree0 Disagree0

Mereiles was actually a good player to have.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Romeu and Marin are useless!

Agree0 Disagree0

Best game we played this season was at the start against a good Newcastle team. Funny enough meirelles started in midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marin is only useless because he hasn't been played. Bit unfair to judge a player based on a few cameo appearances.

Agree0 Disagree0

Romeu is not useless and Marin has not had a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2013 18:58:56
They're no good, not even from the bench. I'll rather have Piazon and Chalobah in the team than Romeu and Marin.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would you shut the f up over Marin. Don't you think there IS a reason he was not "given a chance"? Who's minutes should he take? Is he better than anyone in direct competition?

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye people at to quick to judge new comers. Players like mikel have been here for a while and haven't improved one bit, but he is still backed. But trust me mikel is our biggest liability. One good game a year ain't good enough. And in matter of fact Romeus stats for chelsea is something we should all be happy about! And Marin is a classy out and out winger. Something were actually missing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Erm he could of had Benayoun's minutes? Or maybe some or Mata's/Hazard's etc so that they don't play 90 minutes every 3 days. Tbh before the start of this season I would of said he was better than Moses too. He was also said to have outperformed Hazard in Pre-season. He's an out and out winger which provides something different to playing with 3 no 10's. Moses provides something different but has no end product, his crossing is woeful and despite a few goals hasn't been fantastic. So after the trio I would have played him infront of everyone else.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marin had an excellent preseason. Easily our best player. Who knows what he could have achieved with a little more game time?

Agree0 Disagree0

What do two of you smoke? Best player, wow.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think it is the signings that Emenalo has made that annoy people but more how he chooses managers and how he is 'Roman's man' in the dressing room.

Agree0 Disagree0

He doesn't even sign the players! Jesus, isn't it obvious he is buck and hour lays scape goat?

Agree0 Disagree0

JG, did you watch the preseason games or even read the reports afterwards? Everyone said he was the best player and outshone Hazard.
I'm not saying he is the best player, but he played the best in preseason games.
I'd go back and watch the games or read the after match reports if I were you JG.

Agree0 Disagree0

To do that, i'd have to care for the pre season in the first place. And if you ever were close enough to the actual game, you'd know the importance of pre season and what is judged during it. Players arrive from different parts of the world in different physical and mental conditions, language barriers, etc. Who cares if he played good in pre season, good lord. Whenever he came on the pitch he was s***. Especially when he got a full game against QPR. There are reasons he's not hiven game time.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Jg quite the know it all!

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember pre season drogba was s**t and kezman was brilliant, enough said eh jg

Agree0 Disagree0

So JG didn't watch preseason games but still questions Marin was our best player during them? What a twit.

Agree0 Disagree0

What an person. Who cares what do you do in preseason? It's what you do during it is what matters. Even if Marin was the lovechild of Pele and Messi, he still did not perform better than Shaun Wright Phillips. I don't know, you're either Marin himself, or German. Everyone knows he's s***. And I don't understand what are you trying to prove. Of all Chelsea players to come on the pitch in the 69 games we have played, only Benayoun looked worse.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Why include Feruz? If he is on the list, you need to update it with many youngsters who have also signed under his tenure.

Agree0 Disagree0

Drogba was s*** until we played long all counter attacks. Drogba wouldn't suit us now just like ba doesn't, but kezhman would suit is now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who played well for Chelsea in the QPR game? I can't think of anyone. He didn't have any sort of run of games to develop form or understanding with other players.

First of all it's hard for players from foreign leagues to adapt during their first season and his started off with an injury and then was forced to play a bit part for the rest of it.

I don't think he's the new Messi or that he'll even be a great player. Maybe he will be a massive flop but personally I don't think we should judge him based on 200mins of football, most of them coming from 15 mins cameos.
The hype that surrounded him when we signed him cheaply and if you read ed022's player profile of him, you'd see that he isn't a bad player. But you're entitled to your opinion however wrong it may be.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was crap for two years before joining us. You somehow fail to grasp the logic. There are reasons for everything in life. We got him for 8 million because he was out of form, not performing to the expectations, out of Germany Manschaft. I'm not judging him on 200 mins. I know why we got him for that money. It was a gamble and it did not work out.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

What logic? Price doesn't reflect quality. We got Azpi for that price and De Bruyne. Michu was only 2m.
Also if he was crap for 2 years why would we buy him?

We've almost officially signed Andre Schurrle, is there any other striker we are interest in Ed? Or do we continue with Torres, Demba Ba and Lukaku?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Most probably.

Ed, are there anything new about Andreas Cornelius? {Ed002's Note - No.}

hello fellow chelsea fans! just something I wanted to give my opinion on.

as you all know fernando torres was our top goal scored this season! now at times this season he has gone long periods without scoring weeks in fact, can you imagine the amount of extra points we would gain if we bought in a top class 30+ goal scorer! I mean you could estimate for example and say 10-15 extra points maybe? for example look how many points bale has got for tottenham single handedly this season! were not that far away from being real contenders for the title! we really do lack a solid striker its cost us a lot the last couple of seasons!

apart from say cavani falcao and lewandowski I can't really think of someone who could be that person really? the only person who springs to mind and I know his scoring record is not the best but I think he could really do a job in the premiership is leandro damiao!

ED002 am I rite in saying there is no intrest from chelsea in damiao?

id love to get some of your opinions on strikers who you think could do a job other than the above three I mentioned?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe Higuain could do a good job. Can't really think of anyone else who stands out. I don't think Aubameyang is good enough to be the main striker. Luckily we've got Lukaku ey boys

Agree0 Disagree0

Aubemayang intrigues me because the speed he has would make defenders play off of him which would provide more space for the 3 attacking midfielders. That being said I think the other three would be better.

Tk

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree TK, I don't think he is technically as great as Cavani, Lewandowski or Cavani, but he is lightening quick which could make him very effective and score goals, I wouldn't mind if we ended up with Aubameyang, Ba (Hard to offload due to 'zip' value, or something) and Schurlle (which looks ever increasingly likely) and to loan Lukaku out to a Champions league team.

JMJW

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea who?

Agree0 Disagree0

St Etaine Striker/Winger (More so striker) Very Quick. (All You need to know)

JMJW

Agree0 Disagree0

Higuain/Yilmaz/Negredo/Soldado/Cardoza/Gomez would all be possible improvements. We don't need a 40/50 million pound striker to improve on what we have. A decent £20 million striker (or less) would be a big improvement. We just need a striker that will score us 20 odd league goals which all of the above could do. There is plenty of goals coming from elsewhere in the team, fully expect Hazard/Mata to bag 20 odd each next year in all comps. Torres and Ba got 10 league goals, you don't need to spend 50 million to improve on that. Everyone needs to get it out of there heas that the only way to improve is to spend 50 million, its crazy

S. E

Agree0 Disagree0

Out of that list I'd only want Higuain or Gomez. Personally I'd be happy with Schurrle, Aubameyang and Gomez with Lukaku on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Schurrle not a striker, not convinced. Lukaku isn't ready to lead a Chelsea front line, let's not all kid ourselves. He will be class for us one day but he needs another loan. Aubameyang, at this point will he be an improvement on BA or Torres, i'm not so sure? If we can't get the top targets get me a seasoned European level goalscorer, we don't need any more 'potential' buys

S. E

Agree0 Disagree0

Schurrle's not a typical striker however if we bring in a player like Cavani/Lewandowski, we'll only really need a back-up striker as Ba will likely stay. Aubameyang and Lukaku are one's for the near future however I feel both would compliment each other and our team greatly.

I am getting rather annoyed at reading the trivial trout what I can only imagine the 12yr "fans" are posting constant repeat questions, with absolute no idea or sense. I truly feel for the editors.
please take note and read further down the page, and if there is an announcement the ed will tell you no need to ask every 10 minutes.

- No new News on Mourinho wait till next week.
- Still no deals are done (yet)

Thank you

One Bomb Tom

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, but what annoys me more is people slating Oscar, ramires and cech. And to swap ramires and Torres for cavani. What a joke. Ramires is a diamond for us! Imagine lamps and mikel midfield how slow it would be. Ramires is a one on a million midfielder. With out him fa cup and cl wouldn't have come to the bridge. Oscars first season played out wide and started to really play well and score towards end of season. He's a better centre mid than winger by far and for a start is not a winger. Chelsea fans on here don't support the right players. BLUEBOY1

Agree0 Disagree0

AGREE. Unbelievable how people are slating Ramires. Has everyone forgotten about THAT goal. Bit of respect please. At the very least he is a very usefull squad player. When he gos we will lose more than we gain believe me.

S. E

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not a ramires basher nor his biggest fan. but I will say one huge goal does not earn him a place on this chelsea team. he had an average at best season and can be replaced fairly easily.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never said it earnt him a place on the team sheet, I said it earnt him RESPECT. He's a legend, always will be, just for that one goal. People are talking about him like he's nothing. He may have had an average season but the season before he was class. Who would you replace him with?

S. E

Agree0 Disagree0

Gundogen

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 has said on a number of occasions that Borussia Dortmund will not be looking to sell Gundogan after already losing Goetze a season earlier then expected. You can live in your dreamworld or you can be realistic.

And how you don't rate rami is beyond me. He was one of our best players last season. He wasn't as influential this year, but his run and workrate is second to none, he scores important goals, breaks up play, is the so good on the counter attack and most importantly he plays for the shirt. He is priceless and it's fans like you that have memories of gold fish and no loyalty to the players, that give us a bad name.

Is it true we are losing this kid to Liverpool? Fought off a lot of clubs to sign him as a scholar and thought he was going to be a big player in years to come. {Ed018's Note - who?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lucas Piazon I assume.

Is the return of the special one official yet? If not when will this be confirmed? Thanks {Ed018's Note - you do know he still is the manager of Real Madrid and has one match left.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

True Ed, but Moyes was announced as new Man U boss before his contract ended at Everton. Why don't Chelsea do the same, unless he's not really coming that is. {Ed018's Note - I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe next week there will be some news}

I'd love to see mikey go and for us to get hamsik

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Selling mikel I agree but to replace him with some one totally different is ridiculous

If benitez takes Mikel and Torres, even moses I would start to love him straight away

Barcelona vice-president Carles Vilarrubi has hit out at Jose Mourinho and claims he will be a 'disaster' if, as expected, he returns to Chelsea after announcing his departure from Real Madrid.

Vilarrubi says no-one in Spain will miss Mourinho and his antics when he has gone and feels the Premier League would be ill-advised to welcome him back with open arms - six years after he brought a successful three-year stint at Stamford Bridge to a close.
"My position is not because he was the coach of a rival, but because of who he is and what he did. His three years in Spain he only creates disagreements, arguments. There is nothing positive he brings.

"You can learn good things about life from watching people in football, or the circus, or the opera. There was nothing he brought that was good. There was no positive balance. I cannot see anything good about him. Not one thing. In sporting terms, maybe I am not the person to ask. But in cultural terms, he was a disaster.

Wow

Believable0 Unbelievable0

UEFAlona saying that? You shock me. I only care about what people who have football knowledge (like Villanova who called him a genius and Klopp who said he was one of the worlds greatest minds) not some upstart beaurocrat from behind-the-scenes. Barca's back room hate him because he broke their monopoly of the title and simply cause he is a Real Madrid boss.
EH17

Agree0 Disagree0

It is natural that Barcelona's vice president hates Mourinho he trashed them in direct duels last two years. Defeat suffered from Mourinho was main reason why Guardiola left.

Agree0 Disagree0

And that is why barca won the league twice out of the three years he was in Spain, the barca president is correct, its all about maureen at the end of the day.

Agree0 Disagree0

Last 6 games Barca lost 4 times, played 1 drew and won only 1 match against Real. It is true Barca was dominant in the first year of Mourinho's managament but for last two years in direct duels they were trashed by Real.

Ed018, how do you rate Januzaj of man u?I think he has the potential to be a midfield maestro. In my opinion he will the player that Josh should have been. We should put up a cheeky bid for him, don't think he would come though, but worth a try.
Also ed what is your opinion about Josh not progressing as expected?
roan {Ed018's Note - I have not seen Januzaj play. I'm bit suprised Josh isn't alittle further along in his development. Hopefully he will be able to make it at Chelsea but I have some doubts}

Danielle De Rossi will be a top signing if the latest reports of us being interested are true. Ok he is getting on a bit but we severely lack the hard man enforcer type guy in the middle of the park. Between 15-20 mill euros price being mentioned

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 May 2013 05:40:59
He'll be a good signing for 15m Euros.

Agree0 Disagree0

Essien??

Bluetrick

Agree0 Disagree0

De Rossi would be perfect signing, I am worried only about his age, he play max. 2 or 3 years on this level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was you worried when we signed Makelele? At 30 years of age? I say sign him up, 2 years later Chalobah will be ready!
