Feel for Lampard, i'm sure he knew this was a possible outcome but when he makes it clear on numerous occasions that he needs better options upfront to not get anyone is hard to accept. If we finish out of the top 4 nobody should be calling for his head, he's overachieving with this squad and i'm sure he knows that too.

I understand from the boards perspective of not wanting to overspend on players that aren't their top priority which is why i'm not overly upset but it now means there's no excuse for the board in the summer not to bring in big names. If we fail to get them because we missed out on top 4, that's on the club and not Lampard.

I'd hope and expect a massive clear out in the summer to raise more funds making money not an issue when trying to sign players. We have this seasons budget and players like Barkley, Batshuayi, Bakayoko, Ruidger, Alonso, Moses and Drinkwater will hopefully be sold rather than being loaned out.

Our issue will be convincing players to join if we're not in the CL, and if that means possibly having to pay more in wages then hopefully we'll do it. We're still 6 points clear though and i know Lampard and the boys will give it everything they have to get top 4 so let's hope they come through.

Agree on all them players as well as Emerson and for me Jorginho (as I’ve mentioned good player but not premier league quality holding midfielder) and we should also be getting the £50 million Morata money as well. Problem is we’re that poorly run now we won’t sell them players they’ll be loaned as usual.

Clubs come to Chelsea for freebies now. With the likes of Rudiger, Alonso, Emerson, Barkley, Bakayoko, Batshuayi, Jorginho, Willian and Pedro out the door for me we should have about 200 million plus with the Morata money but we won’t sell we’ll just loan.

If Lampard's telling the truth, and there are no ins and out, then he has to give Giroud an opportunity ahead of Batshuayi.

Can't be complaining about not having a player in the box to finish the chances we're creating without giving him an opportunity to be that person.

Agree although Giroud wasn’t what he use to be I’d rather him than Michy. Michy’s build up play is awful and I think Giroud will have a point to prove now before the Euros.

Well he has sidelined him so far so what will change that in the second half of the season other than injuries?
Sarri utilised Giroud quite succesfully last season whilst employing a similar approach to Lampard.
Very disappointing as I thought Frank would be an intelligent and open minded coach.

To be fair Sarri utilised Giroud with Hazard getting the opposition's attention, which must have made life easier.

But I know who I'd want in the middle, out of Giroud and Batshuayi, when James is whipping balls in.

I think a lack of Champions League football coupled with agreeing Conte’s compensation leaves a big negative chunk on the books. Then considering our player sales/ acquisitions last year was negative probably having to pay a big chunk of the Kepa fee upfront and only recouping less than half from courtois’ sale, also hazards sale probably not included in that or at most the first instalment only.

I think your maybe still shocked at figures like £60, this is the modern era and striker cost in that region if their deemed top draw/ potentially top draw

Morata -£60 mil
Lukaku- £90 mil (add ons)
Aubameyang- £56 mil
Lacazette £50 mil (3 years ago)
Martial £58 mil (add ons) (5 years ago)

The figures I mentioned are within market value, and we are far from a club that is constantly priced out of the market. But anyway we as fans shouldn’t care about the price of players we’re not a fan run club and there are highly paid expertly qualified individuals at our club to worry about not football related stuff.

How on earth is it a disastrous window? Frank has said from the beginning that the club wasn't looking to bring in players unless it was an actual improvement, and clearly the proper players haven't been available.

Franks said all January we can’t kill games off and the club are trying to bring in goalscorer / creator, franks frustration is clear, Haaland / Fernandes available online January, I’d Ed002 has information about players available in January / summer surely the club know, was only the 17th of this month frank said we want to bring in this month, so there were targets and club clearly thought we could get them otherwise frank wouldn’t of said publicly were are trying, so if we don’t get top 4 with our unable to score goals and keep clean sheets do you think we will get the likes of sancho / Werner / havertz etc etc or whoever else?

I remember years ago going on sky sports and in bright yellow along the bottom it said : chelsea have bid £74m for ac Milan's kaka, I was around 20 yrs old and I was so excited, I remember thinking we'd win the league and champions league, I was gutted it never happened, went to Madrid not long after I think for £50m odd, also remember use heavily heavily linked to Neymar and reading how Pele has told him not to join us, don't know how true but we were always linked to him. Wonder how close we came to some of these guys.
