Hi ed,

Just wondering how much truth there is behind rumours we are interested in enner Valencia. Don't really think we need him and the prices quoted ( probably nonsense ) seem far too high.

Thanks as always

1-1 draw! That'll do.

I think we should be happy with the draw after that performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - absolutely we offered very little going forward, especially I the second half}

Hmm maybe we need a decent attacking winger. Reus!

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I blinded by my love for Zouma, or was he totally awesome today?! I thought he was brilliant! :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Amazing can't see cahill getting back in

Agree0 Disagree0

Zouma was excellent. Man of the match in my opinion

I'm not sure that you can't argue that this is a great result considering we were missing Fabregas, costa, Luis, mikel, and what will eventually be cuadrado. We also had a massive game on Tuesday to recover from. Thank god we didn't get behind because we didn't have the bench or energy to chase the game.

The team was tired after the Liverpool game. Willian and Zouma were superb.

Terrible way to concede right at the end of the half. Awful timing

We can't seem to keep hold of the ball (which is drogbas strength) but city are giving us room to counter (Remys strength) be interesting to see how jose goes.

Willian certainly hasn't putten down a marker today. This is one of his worst games in a long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disappointed with JMs tactics. Liv

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you disappointed?

Agree0 Disagree0

We just played super high intensity at pool. I did not expect the same sqaud to go out and outplay city. If we had some fitness left, maybe yes, but I still would have taken the draw.

I'm personally happy with the tactics Jose used, yes we would have all loved to get the 3 points but you could tell that the players were really tired when the second half started. The players were tired due to the Liverpool game and Jose wanted to make sure man city didn't gain any points. He set up not to be beaten in the second half and he done exactly that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Our boys were exhausted after Liverpool clash. It only looks like that we can't play without Fabregas, as we shown on Tuesday it is not correct.
We do need deeper squad and more rotation.
BTW is there a problem with Salah going on loan to Fiorentina? Ed002

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is not completed yet.}

Willian was absolutely excellent today. Probably our best player in the first half!

With injuries to Mikel, Fabregas and Luis and Schurrle and Salah on their way out, we have 4 youth players on the bench! RLC, Ake, Christensen and Brown. I love the team JM's put out but I do worry that we won't really have anyone who can come off the bench and really change the game if need be. I hadn't really realised just how small our squad is. Vital next year that we bring in a HG back-up keeper and another HG player imo.

31 Jan 2015 17:50:11
Not too many games will you have basically 6 guys out. Usually we have to leave out a senior player or two so this kind of situation shouldn't alter squad size.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know we aren't likely to be in this position very often, but I do worry if we were to get injuries. In general we don't suffer injury problems like Arsenal and ManU have had this season but it's still a worry. Besides, I'm not saying we need another 6-7 players etc, just think that with a HG back-up keeper we can have an extra one or two bodies.

I completely understand. I just feel it's a no win situation. You're either too thin or the kids aren't getting a chance.

31 Jan 2015 16:54:34
Who says youth don't get a chance. Zouma starts. RLC, Ake, Christiensen and Brown on bench. I appreciate we have senior players unavailable but still.

Hope Zouma starts at back today

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And the big man has done it! Starting Remy up front and Ramires in the middle. We are going to try and kill them with pace

Wow I just saw a Douglas Costa video, and he did a rainbow flick guys! Now I want him haha :)
In all seriousness, please don't. :-'

Ed any truth about Schurrle iwill be playing against Man.City today?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I haven't picked the team yet.}

I knew it but are you not the special 002?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2015 09:30:02
Assuming Remy isn't yet truly close to an exit, please play him over Drogba, Mourinho! His pace would come in handy against Kompany and Demichelis. He can also press better than Drogba, so please chose him over Drogba. DD can be the impact sub if we need one.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Damn *choose :) stupid typo

Agree0 Disagree0

Remy needs to start. It will be the Drogs though

Agree0 Disagree0

What has Remy done to be picked before the Drog!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Played we'll whenever asked upon! Drogba was terrible against Bradford.

Remy

Agree0 Disagree0

If remy is on his way I can't see him playing at all so he doesn't get injured in fact don't see him being in squad myself.
Is there anymore news on remy ed's many thanks
going to be tough today

Agree0 Disagree0

Yup it's definitely going to be tough vs City. Really hope the team can come through today. A lot of rest after this game if I'm not mistaken

I have a question and I was wondering whether any of the eds or fellow posters could answer it? I know if you received 5 yellow cards before Jan and 10 before April you get a one match ban, but if you get two yellows in a game, does it count as 2? Or does it just go down as a red card?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe both, not sure

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it goes down as 1 yellow and 1 red but I could be wrong

Costas attitude on the pitch is wonderful, the hunger, is top notch. If he can have all that, without the spotting, without the stamping, then we have one of the greatest players in the world.

His hunger gets under the skin of other defenders as teams, and teams and defenders are generally scared of Costa.

He just needs to chomp that side out of his game, he goes over the line sometimes.

Who's better? Aguero or Costa?

I'm going Diego Costa

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its ok to be confident in your team and everything but some of your posts are borderline cringeworthy. Diego Costa is a good player but he is not even close to one of the best players in the world. Aguero is better than Costa in almost every aspect. I'm a Chelsea fan through and through but sometimes people go over the top and it doesn't look good on your part

Agree0 Disagree0

In our current team I would choose Costa, no doubt. He fits the style, and his desire lifts the other players as well. Hazard said something like that in a recent interview, that if you're playing with Costa you can't give anything less than 100%. The pressing, the 'fighting', it all just fits with Mourinho and our team.
However from a purely footballing standpoint, as in talent and technique etc, Aguero is better IMO. His dribbling is amazing, he's strong and his finishing is fantastic.
But in our set up, Costa hands down for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

They are completely different types of players.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me aguero is better striker but certain players suit certain teams, chelsea has always looked better with a target man type striker. Costa offers our team so much more than goals, his attitude and hunger to win and press other teams high up the pitch is outstanding. The only reason I said aguero was better was over the space of say five seasons, I think aguero would get more goals. After saying all this would I swap costa for aguero, no chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny Alpha, never seen you post before, thanks for feedback.

If you've seen my posts before, which I'm assuming you haven't, you'd realise that I have always thought that Aguero was better. He's better in many aspects. True.

Costa has 17 goals, all in open play.
Aguero has 14, 11 from open play.

Aguero has played a lot less minutes however.

This is the first time I've ever said Costa is better by the way, and I'm maintaining my View. He's a better Goalscorer in my opinion.

It's tough though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to single you out Aron. You aren't the only one on the site that does this. And trust me, I don't post often but I read almost every post and I have been for around a year and a half. let's wait a couple seasons for Costa to tune himself even more to the league to see if he can become one of the best players in the world. I believe Aguero is a better forward because of his dribbling, finishing and his awesome work rate, where as Costa is strong and possesses great leadership skills. Costa though at times seems he lacks confidence and hesitates on the ball. Forget about stats for one season and look at the whole picture. Aguero has been injured for a bit and is only returning. Again, I didn't want to single you out but it happens a lot and I just wanted to make you aware of how it looks from a different perspective.

Agree0 Disagree0

No worries Alpha! I didn't get offended at all mate! Post more!

And I've always said Aguero is better. He is an amazing player.

I do this a lot lol, change my mind often.

Costa annoys me in games, he always seems to dribble into defenders and lose the ball. He finished brilliantly though, and is a nightmare for opposition defenders.

It was Definetely Bias from me, I'm just super pumped for this game tonight, don't hold me to this, I've always said Aguero is better lol

Again, don't apologise :) keep posting, enjoyed your replies here :).

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say that Costa is a better player simply due to injury record alone. Whilst Aguero has a better goals/minutes ratio, I can't remember a season now, in which he hasn't been out injured for around 2 months. Just look at City and see how they've struggled with him out the team, then having to try and fit him back into the team. I'd rather have a striker who's dependable, and in the end most likely going to score the most goals.
That said, if the choice was between an injury-free Aguero and Costa, I'd likely chose Aguero.

Agree0 Disagree0

Most people have made really good points. Costa provides a target man and a frontman that will run through a wall to press the opposition. That said if there's a chance at somebody's feet and I need them to bury it give me aguero. They both miss games for different reasons but agueros propensity for injuries is a major worry. For us i'd take diego but for a team like barca or real i'd take aguero.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would just say that Costa could cut out a bit of his aggression in order to stay on the pitch more, Aguero can't do much to help his injury proneness.
