Use our rumours form to send us chelsea transfer rumours.

Am I only one who is glad the window is closed and the page can regain a sense of normality? Everyone saying how upset they are we bought no one, needs to think back to Anchellotti's last ever transfer deadline day at Chelsea. Everyone was so pleased the club decided to throw £50m down the drain, only for us to end up with a passed it striker.

Obviously the club made efforts for players. Falcao and Cavani were never going to happen in Jan, and the club is obviously going to reopen discussions in the summer. We made efforts for Isco, and as Ed002 said all along, Malaga attempted and succeeded in getting him to sign a new contract with a higher release clause. And I'm sure we made efforts for other players, which Ed002 will tell us about in good time, but we couldn't agree on a fee.

What more do you want? Everyone screaming out we need to buy players to cover Mikel and Moses loss. What?!? They are only gone for a month. Yes we are short in the middle, but we have the quality needed to get us through til the summer. We have some incredible youth who are out gaining experience at a higher level then what they would have, had they stayed in our U21's. McEachran isn't ready, but could well be next year thanks to his spell on loan. Chabolah is an extreme talent but is just a kid. He may have gotten 3-4 appearances this year for us in the cups. Isn't it better he plays week in week out for Watford? KDB was great initially at Werder, but is having a pretty lean spell lately, and we needed to know he could play well at a higher level then the Belgium league. Piazon had gotten 2 games this year. I think a loan was wise.

We have Rafa bringing Benayoun on for Mata Ffs! I'm glad the fat waiter can't touch these young prospects!

Thanks for everything during the window as usual Ed018 & 002. Never let us down.

Great post Melbourne CFC delboy (34)

Agree1 Disagree2

Completely agree. The only loan I disagreed with was essien after we got rid of Miereles. That being said we didn't foresee Romeu missing the year. We're struggling currently because Luiz who has turned into arguably our best centre mid is hurt and mikel is away which would help spell lamps and rami. It's just a lot of things going wrong at once.

I think problem is 3-4 years ago we never brought any youth players through and Have them chance instead we just loaned them out from club to club and now we have small
Squad and 20odd players still out on loan. We have won fa youth cup few times I'm recent years so we have good
Young players.
Matt

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I dare say it if mceachran & kakuta played they might be intergrated and fullfilling their potential. remember when kakuta came on as sub, he looked amazing, you don't lose that over night. some players are best left to play how they like in a free role. I would have rather josh played the minutes inastead of signing benayoun & meirelles. BLUEBOY1

Agree2 Disagree0

Like Ramsey and wilshire hey. We could have so many top young players. I worry for chabolah ake kalas etc
Matt

Not the only one, look at sinclair now at city, mancienne & bruma at hamburg. they just need time in our first team. BLUEBOY1

Agree6 Disagree0

Stop being so miserable Kevin. We signed Ba, now just need rafa to actually play him instead of nando, and we signed an extremely talented young RB for the future. Do you want the club to just throw huge amounts of money at teams? All this talk that we won't get CL with our current squad is dumbfounded. You really believe Spurs, Arsenal or Everton have better squads then us?

Ivanovic always sells his passes short he isn't my cup of tea defensively either. We have so many problems in the squad.

Hey, Hey you Ivanovic is godly

Agree4 Disagree4

31 Jan 2013 19:01:02
All correct Ivanovitch simply cannot pass a ball Msybe The club should look at selling players rather than sacking the manager
The list
Ivanovitch
Ramirez
Bertrand
Torres

These players are simply not good enough to play for Chelsea
The summer will be a turning point for us firstly the manager we appoint will have to be able to rebuild the damage done this year and be given time if not and we sack him within 6 months nobody will come
The whole squad is lop sided no balance and too thin to cope

Get it right Roman or we may never be a force again we are so far behind UTD it's frightening
Take a look at there squad balance world class players mixed with good EPL players and enough players to cope

Agree2 Disagree7

We are carrying Oscar?? WHAT?!

Oscar is one of the players that brings the quality of this team up. He's much sharper, more skilled, and more intelligent than any other 21 year old that plays in his position. He's someone we need at the club now. Where do you people even get these ideas? You sound like fake Barca fans. Actually you probably supported Barca until we won the Champions League last year.

ED why are chelsea continuously loaning out player's without sufficient back up Benitez has said he has spoken with the Chelsea board and told them the squad is too thin, Yet this month we buy 1 player sell sturrigde and Loan Piazon whilst Moses and Mikel are away and Hazard is banned, We have played 41 games already this season the fixture list is not going to get easier Marin has struggled badly Luiz is injured yet we still buy noone baffling.

MHL91

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Mikel is a waste of space when he plays for us. No strength, can't pass, poor in the tackle. I've always been amazed at the number of games he has played (is it something to do with his contract). And isn't it a record number of games for a midfielder to be goal less?

I think we should go in for stoke keeper, begovic good cover for cech and a lot better than turnbull and hilario

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Has everyone forgotten about Courtois? He is an absolute beast at 20. Clearly the best young keeper in world football. Butland has been terrible this season and that shows by it taking this long for anyone to table a bid.

Melbourne CFC

Agree3 Disagree2

As back up for This season and do you think cortious will be happy sitting on bench next season behind cech. And I was always under impression plan was couple years abroad on loan then season loan in England.

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I agree that but land really isn't as good as people think. Birmingham rejected 6m for him start season and due to needing money and his performances they will accept 3. 5.

Agree0 Disagree0

No I don't, as I posted about a week a go I had a mate e-mail me saying he was 100% on Courtois going to Barca in the summer, but personally I'm with Ed001 and think it will be Cech sold.

Although I see no sense in buying Butland as a understudy to Courtois, we would need an older, experienced keep to be back up to Courtois, so signs do point to him leaving in the summer. Or as you said go on loan. But I see no point in loaning a bloke who is already Chelsea first team ready, to a team in the EPL.

Melbourne CFC

Agree1 Disagree1

If we were to sell cech and have cortious as number one then brilliant but until we know for sure what's happening we need a better back up then turnbull.
So if we got begovic he could cover this season and if you say sell cech then he can be experienced cover for courtios can't he.

Agree0 Disagree0

And I realise the figures being banded about, and Birminghams financial situation, but my comment was directed about interested shown in the player. The low fee only confirms it further that he hasn't been good this year but has potential.

Melbourne CFC

Agree0 Disagree1

Yes I agree about his performances. Well I hope we don't loan courtios again and I hope his our number 1 and I hope we have a back up for him better than back up we have for cech this season. Sorry didn't post my name on any of this discussion

So much for Marko Marin!! We send a guy out on loan, he comes back and is preferred over Marin! I see we have a lot of trust in him. Sell him now and sign Willian!! Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Moses and Willian is all we need as attacking mids. Loan Piazon to a Prem club next season. All young and good enuff for the next 5-8 years!!! Then address the CDM in the summer once Lamps has gone. Strikers?? We have 2 woldclass strikers in the making, Lukaku and Feruz add Cavaini and again, sorted for the next 5-8 years! DJ

So that I won't be accused of spinning his words. En exact quote: Nine days ago, nine we beat Arsenal. We've had two draws since, one in a second leg [of the Capital One Cup semi-final against Swansea] that was difficult, and another when we controlled the game in the second half at Brentford.

Today was a fantastic game. We still need to get the result we deserve.

A fantastic game! He said. I'm clueless. I feel like the dumbest numb in this world when I read this. Just appaling. We barely escaped Arsenal, because your dumb game plan has let the take back the intiative and control the game for 45 minutes. Arsenal had at least 5 goalbound chances, but converted only one. We did not offer anything to kill off the game. We could have easily lost, had Arsenal been an sharper.

He call the Reading game a fantastic one. I am amazed. We managed a first shot on goal in the 45th minute. A fantastic goal by Mata and a great pass by Torres as well. We are playing a relegation zone team and yet we can't shoot a damn ball for 45 minutes. And it is a fantastic game.

Did he at least watch the Reading games and how they have escaped the latest games? Benitez never reacts to oppositions substitutions. Damn clueless person. I know what is La Fondre time, without watching much of Reading. Now you're a home team with two nil down, fighting the relegation battle. What do you do?

Do we learn anything from the QPR, Southampton games? Why bring on Benayoun? He's been injured and last time he played for Chelsea was what? Two years ago? This is just stupid. You have Terry on the bench. Bring him on change the formation once in your Chelsea career you dummy! Master tactician. Makes me sick.

JG

Believable4 Unbelievable1

31 Jan 2013 10:56:26
To be fair to Rafa, he did bring on Yossi at 2-0 against the 19th placed side! We have a smallish squad and with Moses and Mikel at AFCON and Luiz, Cech and Romeu all injured I think we should be using the likes of Yossi off the bench. I don't have a problem with that.

However, I agree with a lot of what you have said.

J22

Agree1 Disagree1

You do understand that a 19th placed team has much more to fight for than a 12th placed team, don't you?

We have just lost to the 20th team at home and drawn to 17th. And while playing 19th, you should at least consider your weaknesses, if you are too arrogant to consider them an adequate opposition.

It makes me throw up this ineptitude of FSW. Comes out and says that all we are left with this season is the league. He is not asked to do anything fancy. Just grind them points and farewell at the end of May.

He took over - we were 4 points behind Man United.

JG

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jan 2013 12:05:03
JG - A team in 19th is there for a reason! Often because there are 18 better teams kicking about.

In football there will be stronger teams and there will be weaker teams. That is not an arrogant statement - it is a fact. At 2-0 against the 19th placed side with 15mins to go most managers would take the chance to rest the top performers. Its done all the time.

I don't like Rafa and I am far, far from convinced about his tactical acumen but ffs.

J22

Agree1 Disagree0

Tell me a difference between this game and the the Southampton game. 2:0 up, takes foot off the gas pedal and collapse. Or the Arsenal game. First 45 minutes against Arsenal were probably the best football we have played under Rafa. Yet I have no clue what do they do at halftime, but I must disagree with the other poster here.

It is not that United play until the 95th minute and us until 85th. We only play 45 mins a game. It just depends where do we play those 45 within 90.

Players fault? I don't remember them playing that way for RDM. Has anyone not named Gary Cahill came out and backed Benitez? Makes you wonder.

JG

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jan 2013 15:43:53
Yeah its a tough one that. I don't think there is a singular factor that can be blamed for us surrendering good leads of late. I think there is an element of fatigue for sure, some tactical failings and also perhaps a lack of leadership on the field.

Don't get me wrong, I would like to see Benitez be more proactive with his substitutions. However, we are stretched for numbers atm and our substitutes are perhaps not of the calibre of past seasons. I think Rafa fears withdrawing a Mata, Hazard etc. too soon. If someone like Yossi (for example) can prove himself to be a good consistent contributor then perhaps Benitez might be more proactive with the bench; but we need these sort of lads to step up.

I also agree 100% regarding the need to change our formation to suite the match situation. I am surprised Rafa has not worked on this. The best sides are comfortable in 2/3 formations. We need to do the same. .

mat can you tell me one logic to blame rafa benitez after 87 mts played. .plss.
i play football quet well and often. .i too would like to blame my coach. can you please tell me the reason to do so?

Agree2 Disagree2

I can. A manager has to react to the substitutions being made by the opposition coach. Yet Reading have made their substitutions, by the 75th minute and one can clearly see the signs, that the passing in their final third has changed, they actually started the "last wave".

What does Rafa do? Well, he brings on Benayoun to play on the right. Don't ask me why. Probably because he had no other idea how to keep our precious formation on the pitch. Having collapsed against QPR, Southampton and barely escaping Arsenal in one month one should be able to know what's on the agenda and what to do to prevent it.

Azpiliqueta ain't exactly the most aware person while defending set pieces, but the Benayoun substitution has shot the fat one in the belly, because we has 3 unmarked players on our left with no sniff of eith Azpiliqueta or Benayoun to be seen there.

So if having Turnbull between the posts is not the recipe for the disaster obvious enough, why not bring on someone who can command the back four?

I wrote yesterday. Bring on Terry, move Ivanovic to the right and shift Azpiliqueta up the pitch. You get two lines of defence: Cole-Terry-Cahill-Ivan and Bertrand-Rami-Lamps-Azpiliqueta.

Let Oscar And Torres or Ba free roam upfront. Play long ball, catch them on the counter. Hold up, the play. Don't just stand there and expect to escape the storm. Worthless, useless, stupid man.

What if azpi and benayoun were no where to be seen on the right that might be because the players they have been told to mark might be on the left so that's what they do. If your going to blame someone saying they should have done better it should have been one of the three players that tried heading the ball but all three of them missed it.

I'd like our on-loan defender Kenneth Omeruo here next season challenging Ivan, Terry and Cahill for a starting spot. The guy is very commanding, quick, mobile, strong, comfortable with the ball and can read the game very well, also a good passer of the ball. .much like Luiz, but a better organized version. We have quality players on loan yet we're so unbelievably thin. Plus, why can't we just be without a manager, or maybe JT as player-manager, until the summer? It can't be any worse.

I wish rafa with players with got and his tactical genius would change our formation instead of playing players out of position.

ive been thinking about our recent poor performances. I get what people are saying when they say benitez wasnt the one marking badly etc. heres what I think. we've decided to turn chelsea into a young side, with a lot of talent, but no real strength and few leader. .we're essentially arsenal. this kind of team requires strong leadership which chelsea doesn't have, esp with terry out. rafa is a poor man manager, he's had so many arguments with players in previous jobs, and so he doesn't provide this leadership that the team needs. that is why we continue to get results like this. there's no passion in the side, which is expected when you have a new team that hasn't had experience in the chelsea shirt and a manager who cannot instill that in the players,

I agree with most of what you are saying except teams with no strength or leadership usually don't go on an unbeaten run of away games especially at Everton and Stoke.

we were leading 2-0 at 87 mts played. .
how is that a managers fault wen you conceede the goal at the 88th minute and not the first period. .
some fans here are pathetic and don't have any ckue on football. .

Substitutions and tactics were clueless, and they are the managers choice, and by the way this was not the first time that his team has lost a 2 goal lead. He is the manager and MUST take the blame. He was not, and never will be, wanted here.
