Reading reports from Spain (Marca, El Diario) that Alonso will move to Atletico Madrid this summer!

If he goes, who should replace him - both in a banned or non-banned situation?

Also, any of the eds able to substantiate the rumour?

Banned has to be Jay da Silva coming back from loan. I would absolutely love to add Alex Telles to this squad in order to provide width down the left and he would be my choice in a non-banned scenario.

If we don't appeal then i'd still sell him and have Jay Dasilva as backup to Emerson. That's if Jay would be willing to be a backup. If we appeal and can buy then i'd go and get Telles, he's pretty much turned into the new Hulk with us being linked to him every window. He'd be an excellent signing though, has everything you look for in a modern day full back.

Chilwell would be my first choice if the ban remains. If not then Aina first then Da Silva. Aina has proved to be a very versatile full back for Torino but I’ve heard he’s signing for them. Think Chilwell is quality and the more homegrown we have the better. If not him then Telles.

Even if the ban remains and we can offload the likes of Zappacosta, Alonso, Drinkwater, Morata and Bakayoko we’ve still improved the squad.

No worries if Marcos Alonso has agreed a deal to join Athletico Madrid- as long as Athletico pay £70m for him.

I’d take 7 million personally. But I think £20 million would be a fair fee.

20 mil for a goal scoring LB . no way has to be higher . but id like to stay away from discussing money.

he has done well for us . id like for him to stay and compete with emerson if the ban stays. i think if we had a good striker he would do even better in the attacking phase . defensivly he can do much better.

I think this Alonso's sudden desire to join Athletico Madrid feels like tantrum that he's throwing against Sarri and the club; but I honestly think that it won't help him cos it's coming at the very wrong time.

What a way to end the season, happy for the lads and for the boss. Very sad to see Eden go, but I'm glad he went out with a trophy. We've been spoiled to see and benefit from his development over the last 7 years.

However I think I'd like stress how our initial treatment of Pulisic should be. He's young, and the expectations of him being Eden's immediate heir could prove to be detrimental to his development.

He has the confidence and the composure to be a star for us. I think that if we give him the time, which we notoriously don't do for non-academy players, he will come good. He and CHO could be a dangerous winger combination, and I'm excited to watch them play next season!

Pulisic wouldn't be Hazard's heir it'll be CHO for me, Pulisic will play in that RW position and CHO will get the LW as well as getting the #10 shirt. I'm very excited to see them next season but as you said we need to patient with them both and not have too high expectations of them in their first season together. It's why i really hope we do appeal to CAS, we need to replace Hazards impact and i don't expect either CHO or Pulisic doing that yet. Getting a top ST would help take a lot of pressure off their shoulders.

I agree that CHO will be Eden's replacement, but pundits and other fans assume that Pulisic is the replacement. Unfortunately, we will be hearing Hazard-Pulisic comparisons next season and seasons after.

I think if the ban is frozen, we should push hard for Jovic. He, Tammy and Giroud could be one of our better cohort of front men!

A message for the Ed's what do you feel will happen regarding the transfer ban will Chelsea appeal and get it overturned unlikely or suspended or just take the punishment .
I know it's a speculative question but just after an advised opinion
Many thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - there is no way of knowing. It should be suspended pending the appeal, as there is precedent there, but it should never have been imposed until after the appeal in the first place.}

30 May 2019 09:53:29
Ed1 the window to appeal has gone now hasn't it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, last I heard they were going to appeal. I haven't had time to follow anything else. Unless something happens then I will read about it.}

30 May 2019 10:03:51
Thank you for your time it's a strange one and could see lawyers making a lot of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there was no legal precedent for the way they have acted, so it was beyond strange and almost bordering on the illegal.}

You guys really don't deserve Sarri.

The 'we want Sarri out' chants are looking totally and utterly ridiculous.

Fully agreed, Samuel. But still I do hope he stays. Especially with the ban seemingly staying in place, we need some continuity, and that should be the coach staying.

Thanks, Malaga. You had us pinned down in the first half hour, but indeed once we got into our game we looked the better side.

No doubt you'll get another crack at it next season ;) all jokes aside, you had a good EL campaign. Beat Napoli and Valencia both over 2 legs, and those aren't weak teams at all.

Absolutely over the moon for Sarri, saw a clip of him looking at his medal then looking up with a massive smile, then him lifting trophy and pulling a big cigar out, he looked made up. Happy for him, can't of been easy with the Criticism, fair play to him.

Spot on Matt,

For the stick he got, i think this is the best way to answer critics.
happy thet he works on football and the team rather than pleasing fans who give him a hard time.

well done to the team . super thrilled.
