This might not sound right but for some strange reason I'd love to see Luiz back at the bridge. He might have matured although I doubt it but he does have character something we lack. And he's great on the ball and instead of being next to someone slow like Terry or Cahill when Zouma's back his pace and being great defensively can cover hiss ball playing ability. I actually think Zouma and Luiz could work together and then bring back Christensen next season.

David Luiz? ! He's like the girlfriend, or boyfriend, who treated you like a king, or queen, 90% of the time but was a drunken horrible nightmare the other 10% of the time before leaving you for someone else - do you take them (him back)?

I don't believe this 1, sell him for 50 mill then when the market goes crazy sign him back for 30 mill lol, if this is true and I don't think it is, psg would never agree to this.

Alonso seems a very decent well rounded player, jack of all trades master of known, he's also not very athletically gifted. Feels he's another stop gap purchase!

Brozovic is a high energy midfielder who once again is a jack of all trades engine guy. No outstanding qualities and just a squad filler for £20m+ who isn't starting caliber!

Lastly James who is an over priced YouTube sensation. He's a luxury player who lacks physical talents and struggles with a high tempo game. £50m+ for a player who wouldn't fit Conte's philosophy would be madness.

The thing that is worrying me is that we still seem to be buying medium quality level players who don't jump out as first names on the team sheet.
Also we've decided to keep Cheek and Aina this year which I'm happy about. But with the purchases of Alonso and Brozovic along with the return of Mikel and Zouma they won't make the bench : (

We should have been targeting the likes of Bazoer, Alaba, Dembele, Gabigol and given youth a chance in my opinion.

I want top squads you have to have top players on the bench, challenging their team mates. Look at Oscar challenging cesc. Something to fight for. Under Jose the starting 11 is just that,

On the one hand I don't think James fits into the type of player Conte seems to be targeting however perhaps with a solid back 6, he could Allow our front 4 to ignore the defensive side.

The objectives of this window for the recruitment side of the club were:

-Trim the squad of players who needed to move on and sell or loan players who were deemed surplus or who would benefit from a loan. That objective has been achieved or will be by close of play.

-Recruit a midfielder capable of covering vast amount of ground, break play up and contribute technically with the ball. In Kante, that objective has been achieved.

-Recruit a striker capable of providing Costa with credible competition and offer Conte the chance to play the two as a pairing. Despite the fee, Batshuayi seems to be a good long term investment who I have high hopes for. Objective achieved.

-Recruit an elite level centre half to come in and rejuvenate that compartment of the squad which, with the return of Zouma, would provide the chance to implement a higher defensive line than of previous years. It would have provided more tactical variation options also. Objective failed miserably for the second year running. Quite simply unacceptable considering the time the club have had to sort it.

-Recruit a left back with a left foot to provide another option for the squad and add to the squad depth. In Marcos Alonso, the club hopefully have filled this blank, although this time last year, Baba Rahman was thought to be the solution. Time will tell. Objective achieved.

-If Begovic left, recruit an adequate replacement to provide Courtois with competition. Objective achieved.

Having had the time to reflect upon this window, I have mixed feelings. In Kante we have an outstanding player and in Batshuayi, we have a potentially very good player. Alonso hopefully can prove to be a surprise package or we will be in the same position next year.

I can't help but be disappointed that the club have failed to acquire an elite level centre half to complement what we already have. I realise that it is not easy and clubs are as reluctant as ever to part with their prized assets. I can't say I am surprised given last year. Hopefully we can get through another year with what we have and reassess when Christensen comes back. Mismanagement of the highest degree and surely questions must be asked internally as to how the club have failed with this for a second year running.

An good window but the club have not addressed all of the needs and that may be something that comes back to haunt us during the season.

It's simple to look at it this way " we haven't replaced JT " Zouma I rate but his young, like you I agree we need the elite defender who is a leader,

All the players going out on loan and mikel still here don't get it. We definitely need another striker as I see Costa seeing red this year a few times and with it Being batmans first year it's a lot to put on the lad on his own.

Hell yeah! Really surprised conte never thought he was ready, but great move for him.
One things with loans I don't get is sending them miles away from home. Use Watford, palace reading qpr Fulham. I deal for the boys.

James, brozovic, alonso, koulibaly, de vrij, romagnoli, any of these deals could happen with less than 2 days left, this could be either really exciting or very disappointing.
