He was a scout for Chelsea from the early 90's up to 2006ish.

{Ed018's Note - he's the scout that recommended signing Drogba and Essien}

Thankyou for the reply so why did we let him go or did he want to leave?

I feel we'll be up there and I suppose Luiz ain't so bad when I think about it. One thing is for sure, the only way we win that league is if Hazard is on absolute fireπŸŒ‹πŸŒ‹ if he can hit up 20+ goals and 10-15 assists we can do it.

It doesn't matter if its hazard. It can be willian ir anyone else who scores and assists in those numbers and we should be champions (or close enough)

{Ed018's Note - I don't think Willian will be scoring those kinds of numbers}

Willian, he may score 6 and assist 3. If he gets a few lucky free kicks go in. I hope he's taken off corner duty as well. To me Willian is one of the biggest frauds of football wingers. He's like a headless chicken.

Brutal assessment BLUEBOY1 but sadly more or less true. One of worst corner takers I have seen, just below Fabregas. You cannot fault his work rate but for a forward the end product is terrible.

The window is shut. The spine of the team has been strengthened with Edaurdo a strong third choice goalkeeper, Luiz a fantastic addition at Centre back allowing us to play a back 3 on occasions, Kante holding the midfied might just be the signing of the season, Batsman already looking settled and with pace and power a better buy than Lukaku for me plus Alonso who is left footed and can play as a left back or even on the left of a back 3. All positive and strengthen the squad. Add to the above keeping Hazard, Matic, Cesc, Pedro, Oscar and Costa who were all linked with moves and we are in good shape. Keeping Moses and Chalobah is also very positive. When you add in the appointment of Conte as manager I have to say the club have done very well and get an A grade from me. Now I can see us pushing on.

Not the best journalism in the world but some good points and nails some reasons why i was so excited to get him back.

I've got to say that the Luiz move has grown on me since it was made. For starters David absolutely gives everything to the club, which last season has made me appreciate. Physically he's very capable for a 29 year old defender, with enough height to hold his own and enough pace to play a high line. He is fantastic on the ball which only terry is capable of at this point. One major plus is that he is capable of leading the back line and Terry is seemingly the only defender we have capable of doing such. He's not without fault as he can lack dicipline at times; however if he had that you could make a very good argument about him being a top 7 defender in the world. That weakness should also be aided by Conte who seems to specialize in developing tactical nouse in his team. Overall i think Luiz answers a ton of questions that could've been asked of our defense.

Well Luiz has the same qualities as Koulibaly for the most part. Both are physically impressive. KK is obviously a bit bigger but Luiz is very strong and also strong in the air. Both have very good passing and are comfortable on the ball. And both like to play proactive football, which can lead to them making a mistake and being caught out.
The advantage KK has over Luiz is that he's 4 years younger. However, Luiz being almost 30 has the benefit of being able to get Christensen back and integrate him as Luiz turns 30 this season. Also, Luiz doesn't leave for AFCON during January, and he knows the club and English football so won't have much adapting to do except for adapting to Conte's tactics. Luiz also has much more experience at the top level than KK, so there's that.

All in all, I would've loved KK as he's an impressive athlete and a very good defender in his own right. Luiz however is also a great buy as he's a very good player as well, and he's a true leader on the pitch and a possible future captain.

I do think we need to play a higher defensive line if we want to get the best out of Luiz and our defense. That way if he gambles and makes a mistake, then he still has time to recover. We need to play proactive football. I'm sure Conte will use him in the best way.
Great buy in my book.

Koulibaly is heavily overrated. Many Chelsea fans are glorifying him without ever seen him play.
After Napoli cashed in 94m€ there was no way getting the player if they considered him necessary.
I think that we got proven player.

Romagnoli was the one missed out on. The lad is quality and plays like a young maldini.
