IMO, the Eds must have the collective patience of saints to put up with this transfer crap.

It's only the second day and my head hurts!

{Ed047's Note - ed02 alone must have the patience of at least 25 saints!

Haha tell him we appreciate him and the information.

I read a lot on twitter about who fans think are good players and who would like to see here and I love finding out others opinions. Two that have cropped up today are Dani Olmo and Emi Buendía both quality young players. But personally I think we have enough of them unless we're going to break the bank for a generational one in Sancho. We have James, Lamptey, Tomori, Mount, CHO and Abraham to name a few all highly rated young players I'd just like to see us aim for more established ones now to guide them and find the right blend unless we sign a generational one like Sancho.

Them two cropped up due to lack of creativity from our midfielders lately but I'd prefer to see us go for a Bruno Fernandes type of even Christian Eriksen albeit unlikely.

I agree we need more top quality experienced players in our team, only exception is as you said Sancho but it seems that may have to wait till the summer. Don't see either Werner or Sancho leaving in January. Thought Dembele could be do able yesterday but that's doesn't seem to be the case because of Depays injury.

Only experienced player out there that we've been linked with who can do a job is Isco. Zaha i have my doubts with and Palace are pricing us out anyway. People on twitter are naming players like Erikson and Koulibaly who could help us but they're just not realistic.

I do feel we need some real experienced players to add to our squad. Especially if we lose Giroud, Pedro and Michy [Michy to Villa? ]. We need players with real experience who can teach our gifted children, day in day out, on the training ground.

Lyon released statement saying dembele not for sale in January, what do you think Ed, they want more money or genuinely there not interested in selling. I'm sure they said same about lacazette,

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I told you before that he wasn't to be sold in January. It is nothing to do with Lacazette - it is to do with having no cover with Depay injured.}

02 Jan 2020 21:17:43
He said the same about Mendy too. Be interesting next few weeks. Raul Jimenez is another striker I highly rate and he’d be perfect for us. But unfortunately we haven’t been linked and we’d be talking 50 million plus.

If we swap giroud or they get a replacement and dembele pushes for the move maybe they would be willing to sell.

Cheers ed, lots of talk about Werner and a so called release clause, heavily linked and you said previously Chelsea interest, only couple days in and with talk of no release clause stories saying he won’t be moving - only social media and journalists so forgive me.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about different types of clauses.}

I’ll have a search and see, fingers crossed there’s a chance we can get him and if chelsea are keen on sancho like mentioned I hope something can be done, need s spark in the team.

We did buy Torres in a January window and Liverpool had to seek a replacement and luckily they found Andy Carroll :0)

Hi Ed :) best wishes for the new year. Hopefully it treats you kindly!

Got a question related to transfers. But not so much incoming transfers, but more with regards to players perhaps being loaned in January now.

The youth team are out of the UEFA Youth League, and the first team is out of the Capital One Cup. So far we've kept some very promising youngsters on the fringes of the first team, e. g. Gilmour, Anjorin, Guehi. Would you perhaps know whether Chelsea are looking to loan some of those youngsters out to gain some experience in adult football. The ones I mentioned are clearly very highly rated and talented, but it's hard to see them getting many minutes in the first team at Chelsea. So perhaps a loan for one or some would be something to look at for the club?

No worries if you don't have the time or just haven't heard anything. Was simply curious :)

Hope you have a good one!

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure that the club have plans to offer any of these players for loan, but there are offers on the table to buy Guehi.}

02 Jan 2020 13:53:32
Hmm I hope we don't sell Guehi just yet. He looks like he has the lot to become a very good defender.
Just out of interest, are the clubs that want to buy him in Premier League as well?

{Ed002's Note - SOuthampton as a replacement for Vestergaard is one.}

02 Jan 2020 14:31:11
Wow, that would be a good move. Hassenhuttl seems like a terrific coach, and I just like Southampton as a club. They've got a pretty good squad and are now performing like I thought they could.

Now if only they'd be willing to take him on loan instead of buying, that could benefit all parties. A loan for a year and a half instead of just the 2nd half of this season would give them more incentive to play him then.

If we can't sign a Sancho or Werner I'm January I beg that we go for Bruno Fernandes. He's achievable being at Sporting who have no champion league or title charge and he wants to move to a bigger club. I'm a massive fan of Mount but he's just not creatively good enough to play the number ten as of yet. We have no consistent goals or assists from midfield without Ruben and we don't even know if he'll ever be the same player.

It's about time we signed a midfielder who can score from distance again against low blocks. The good thing about Fernandes is is he also has a complete all round game he's a very good worker off the ball also.

I was disappointed when I learnt that Bruno Fernandes is not in Ed2's list of players of our interest. Maybe because of what we already have, Mount, etc? I feel we should be looking for him regardless because competition brings consistency and we lack players of his qualities. Could replace Lampard whom I believe gave us the edge over our rivals with handy goals from afar.
Again IMO as matter of equally important we should be looking for a versatile CM who works hard enough. Of all his qualities Jorginho doesn't have the pace nor the physical dominance. Now who can fill this position?
I noticed that we are not only grooming the youth but also the coach, Lampard. His Naivity cost us Atimes but that's expected. We are achieving beyond expectations already.
Lastly we should be looking to sign quality over quantity so we can get the balance of talent and experience.

I agree on Jorginho. I think he is a quality player in the right league and that’s why Serie A suited him. I think the same on Christensen. Very good CB but not made for this league. As for replacing Jorginho if we were to I would go for Lisandro Martinez of Ajax. Very tenacious and good on the ball whilst also being fantastic in the air for someone 5’10. He’s left footed who can play CB and CDM and I think that he would be perfect for us.

Football transfers can change very quickly so I’m hoping we might aim for Fernandes eventually.
