Just a thought, perhaps we should give spuds some credit for the way they played against us. I know it goes against the grain, but there manager had obviously done his homework.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Even with my post below I do agree, Spurs played well - Kane looks a good player but you can't say that that isn't the worst you have seen Chelsea play in a long time. at least 2 of the goals and the penalty were caused by sloppy bad defending and I don't even mean poor defending or mistakes, I am tired sloppy play (for example, I don't know what Oscar was trying to do for the first goal). I think that the result was more about how poor we were rather than how good they were. Even still, they got the 3 points and fair play.

Mourinho needs to decide what do do - recruit or promote youth, if he doesn't trust our squad players. It just looked shell shocked.

Agree0 Disagree0

They played very well. Kane in particular

Agree0 Disagree0

I've wrote about Kane before-impressive! He has 17 goals up to now not to mention the way he is playing!! Hazard is improving slower season after season but Kane his improvement in six months is astonishing!!
Spuds had seven shots on goal six on target and they've scored five goals! I really feel bad when I recall what our players have missed!

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder what happened, he just looks a completely different player!!

Agree0 Disagree0

'Spuds some credit'? No, shan't!

Finally was able to bring myself to watch the highlights to the game vs spurs. I have to say we did have chances and were unlucky, penalty denied and also there is something to be said for how Kane sold the penalty. It was a pen, sloppy from Cahill, but the double movement to sell the penalty, if that was a Chelsea player I believe he would have been booked for simulation.

First goal was cheap. The second goal, Terry forgot he was on a football pitch. He was jogging, he should have cleared that. The penalty itself was a sloppy pass from ivanovic. The second Kane goal was just well taken and the last goal was just terrible defending.

Maybe this has been on the cards for a while. With no wide RW and Azpili at LB we have no shape. I agree we have to play Luis at LB and he might work better with Azpili at RB as he is less forward thinking. Cahill I though just had a crap day but how many mistakes does a player get before he has to fight for his position.

Maybe it would be worth playing Matic Rami and Fabregas in the centre in a 3 and using Hazard and Oscar as wingers. Oscar does have the beating of a player, where as Willian doesn't seem to take players on.

So yeah, we should have had a pen and 3 or 4 of the spurs goals were from sloppy stupid mistakes. Maybe be glad to get them all out in one game.

Positives - Hazard looked world class and its good to see Costa keep up the goal scoring form.

Despite that, pretty disgusted

Hi guys would anyone be able to tell me which manager it was that signed Azpi?
Thanks

RDM. Low key signing considering he came in the same window we bought hazard and Oscar. Look at him now though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Tk, thought it was Benitez but then he wasn't in charge over the summer window

Agree0 Disagree0

Had diddly squat to do with RDM was a board decision.

Agree0 Disagree0

A measly 7 million too it was reported. Considering united payed 30 million for Luke Shaw.

The way I see it it's simple! Drop Cahill! Move Incanovic to centre half alongside terry put dave right back and luis left back!
Buy khadiera to play alongside matic move cesc to number 10 hazard left mid and buy reus/sterling to play right mid with costa up top! Bang job done

Sign bony for drogba

02 Jan 2015 13:12:19
I would play Zouma next to Terry and I would also move Fabregas to play behind Costa and either buy someone to play alongside Matic or give one of the youth players a chance. Cesc cannot play next to Matic there is far too much space in behind him and it also limits what he can do going forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2015 13:24:02
Oscar was so so bad recently that fabregas must start in number 10 role and ramires should be next to matic

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh pinky, if it was only that easy. Get off fifa manager mode though buddy ;)

I agree, give zouma a chance before giving Ivanovic the nod In centre back.

Bony for drogba would be a crazy expensive replacement. Why not bamford?

I agree that we need another midfeild enforcer next to matic. Pogba is that man.

I don't know what it is about oscar. He seems burnt out again. Play 4-3-3 with hazard and Andre wingers with fab matic and Ramires or ake or Mikel in a mid 3

Agree0 Disagree0

Juventus is asking 100 000 000 euros for Pogba!! Wake up it is not going to happen!

Not happy at all with how things went yesterday in terms of defending, but I wanted to focus in on a positive which nobody really has talked much about this season - the development of Hazard. I feel that he's now developing that final product to add to his mesmerising runs, something which we were all crying out for last season. that's now 11 goals and 10 assists all competitions, a decent goal tally for a wide player and considering he only managed 17 all last season. I think part of this development has come from Mourinho himself, but also from the introduction of two world class players alongside him - Fabregas and Costa. For anyone who watched yesterday's game you would have seen a spectacular performance from Hazard, who certainly didn't deserve to be on the losing side, and he nearly single handedly rescued a point for us. Right now he is not far off the standard of Messi in terms of dribbling, and we said last season that all he really needed to add was that final product, well it seems now that he's starting to produce. At 23 years old I believe the standard of Messi/Ronaldo is not a long way off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's nice to silence some of the critics of him at the start of season, this guy is so talented it's unreal & it's really starting to show now, every time he gets the ball he makes things happen & as say juventa he's got that final product, matic did have a poor game yesterday he looked knackered & fabregas defensively was poor in general, I thought we would of gone with mikel next to matic & fab playing higher as we were away & needed points but we should kick on now & stop being complacent giving average teams far too much respect!

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post! HAZARD Was truly special.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Juventa and situation. Some people on here are quick to jûmp on Eden's case, to me he is top ten n the world if not top five watching him yesterday made me really happy after a rather dismal day. his desire to get something out of the game having already played four games in the space of 12 days was something really special.
For me what we need is someone with a hit more physical presence to sit with Matic kinda like an Essien type player, I know getting Pogba won't be easy maybe we should just pay what Juve want? Really believe he is the last piece of the puzzle we could go strong with little purchases every summer and have one of the best elevens ever with youth players and maybe one or two inclusions every summer without spending too much.

We are almost there but I think we just lack that little bit extra to match the likes of Madrid and bayern. Like Aron said Koke and Martinez wouldn't be bad back up options but we should really do all we can to get Pogba. Even if it means selling Oscar.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard has been playing at a very high level the last few weeks. We have to cherish the fact that he plays for us.
I agree with ELI, in that I'd like to see us pay what Juve wants. Fund the move by selling some players like Ramires, Mikel, Romeu etc. He'd make our midfield BEAST!

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys while I agree he is devolving to an amazing player his performance yesterday was 50/50 the first half he was non existent the second half he was amazing just annoys me.

I have told this from the start of my posting career that hazard is the best player we have in the team. Not really impressed with costa recently, don't really know what's wrong with remy but I would like him to be playing much more.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2015 14:14:13
Agreed about Remy, complete waste of talent. He is a goalscorer, needs to be given a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there may be a little more to it than just spend the money they want. I hope we do though. Pogba and varane in te sqaud for a further 10 years with courtois in goal for 10 years. Future would be bright (still is tho)

Can't understand why Remy is not getting a look in. It is frankly ridiculous.

Fielding the same 11 week in week out will not go well, just ask Sean Dyche, 3 injuries in one game before the 60 minute mark, may not be related but he too, feilded the same 11 week in week out.

I love Hazard, he really is improving.

I haven't posted anything on here for a while, however following yesterdays game I need a forum to post my feelings, unfortunately for you, this is it! I really think that our early season form has papered over some cracks that are starting to open up in the team.

The first of these cracks is Ivanovic. Although I appreciate his effort levels and commitment I've never been a fan of his technical ability or positional sense. He was run ragged yesterday, and not for the first time. Going forward his crossing ability is woeful and hardly ever beats the first man; when playing with wingers who cut in its imperative that the fullbacks can cross. We've been linked to a lot of young English talent of late, however, for me, there's one that could work out as big a signing as Ashley Cole was - Nathaniel Clyne. Defensively sound and excellent going forward, he's found his feet in the EPL and will certainly be looking at a move to a bigger club sooner rather than later. His signing and a return to the first team squad for Kalas would add further depth to the squad.

Speaking of further depth to the squad, rotation, or a lack of rotation, is another problem. We do have excellent strength in depth in places around the squad, however after four games in eleven days there was no sign of much rotation. Players such as Mikel, Zouma and Remy offer the depth to the squad but don't seem to get a look in. Many of the players looked pretty dead on their feet yesterday, one of which was Matic. He was far from his usual commanding presence in midfield and this reflected in the goals we conceded.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your right J. Good post. Post more buddy if you can, we have got a fantastic community here now.

Clyne would be nice, ed002, do we have any interest?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not any more.}

Why Clyne? We have Azpi and paid £16m for Luis. We also have Christianson and Zouma.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2015 12:30:57
Clyne's English and would help add to our homegrown. People who say he's not good defensively are talking rubbish. He has the most tackles in the league this year. He also has a good physique, very powerful for a full back and his pace is really good. But for now I'd play Azpilicueta and Filipe as the full backs and start Zouma with Terry and I'd keep that side for a good run of games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, just because he has most tackles in league doesn't mean everything. He's very overrated defensively, he can defend but he's not at the level we need. He could easily establish that though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001, what do you make of us so far? If you haven't got time, Don't worry about it, but would love to know what you think is wrong with us so far.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - there is nothing actually wrong, it is just the Jose is far too happy to shut up shop, when Chelsea need to push on and just keep going. Chelsea are a class above every team in the Prem, bar Man City, they should be working on creating an unmatchable goal difference to make sure City can't get at them. The only other thing that could be seen as a worry is the lack of chances for the youth players. Kalas should have been getting regular footie with you this season, Terry should be getting regular rest periods to keep him fresh. This is the perfect time to blood the young defenders, but instead Kalas is out on loan.}

Ed, spot on mate. Think I agree with you on all parts.
I want Zouma to start more games. Spurs scoring 5 is unacceptable. I didn't see the last 2 goals but it just can't happen.
Ivanovic was getting owned in the first half by Chadli, it's strange that he's declined in his defensive game. I also stand by my opinion that Cahill is not starter material for us. He'd be an excellent rotational player for us but our starter should be more secure. The way he gave the penalty away was very disappointing. So slow to react.
Please Jose, give Zouma some chances. The guy deserves it. If our defense was solid as it used to be then I wouldn't be moaning. But conceding 5 in one game is simply too much.

And Remy deserves a chance, what does the guy have to do to get some minutes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Zouma! That was the other lad I was trying to think of. I couldn't for the life of me remember his name then when I was typing that.

I have never been a fan of Ivanovic, aerially exceptional, quick and strong, but I don't rate him on the ball, and his positioning has always been suspect. However you can't have 11 of the best in their position at any one club, you need players like Ivanovic, who will give their heart and soul in every game. They provide a platform for the likes of Hazard to play from. For me though, you have a better right back playing at left back most weeks, one who also gives his all. I am with you, Ivanovic should be on the bench or covering for injuries, loss of form or just if someone needs a rest. If Luis had settled in quickly, I am sure Ivanovic would be playing less.}

Ivanovic gets caught out of position far too often, Cahill has made too many errors recently and Terry needs someone with pace next to him. I'm surprised Kalas was loaned out this season. He played at right back as well as centre back for Vitesse, so that would have given us an option.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with what you ed001 have said, aswell as Jackson and Bruce. Good posts :) Ivanovic is fine imo, but he's trying to replicate dani alves, who was never all that good imo.

Kalas and Zouma are both great players, and deserve chances!

Agree0 Disagree0

Aron, I don't think it's Ivanovic trying to replicate Dani Alves. it's the system we play which means our right-back is more often than not the outlet going forward. If we continue to play that system and we don't make any signings, I'd rather Azpilicueta played there tbh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bruce has hit the nail on the head - JT has always needed a quick central defender beside him and Cahill is not quick enough. We need to give Zouma a run in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Concerning the flack that Cahill's getting, can one of the eds throw any light on why we haven't kept Kalas in the squad? Remember last season as Anfield - he had the Scouse Vampire oin his back pocket.
