I don't understand why people Are having a go at Marin. I thought he created a number of chances for us and look very lively... I agree that he should have been sent off, but it was good to see him running at players and taking them on.

Words fail me, all that talent and no motivation , just like watching the Chelsea of yesteryear, beat the decent sides around us and lose to the struggling sides. Those Chelsea fans who paid good money to watch that crap must feel well cheated.... the players should hang their heads in shame. Well done Harry, tactics spot on, why couldn't we have had you instead , What did you say about anyone could win with our team....... give Raffa, and Roman, a ring in the morning and explain in detail how to run a football club.

Bluetrick (49)pi$$ed off Chelsea supporter of 40+ years who should really Know better

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Right, good tactics to sit back and get RDM against. Qpr players were a bit luckier and made better use of their chance. Stop listening to person biased commentators, I didn't see any management problems, we fielded the better team and our players should have finished better.

Appauled at the knee-jerk reactions by some people on here. We played crap. Accept it, suck it up and move on. If Muzzled and Co. come on here later, just ignore them or tell them to mind the gap.
I love Chelsea and still will. Results like that are rare for us and we need to accept all we can do is learn from it. Not bleat about it or make a fuss. We still have that game in hand remember?

As Chelsea fans we will have to get used to the useless tactics of benitez. I have a friend that works (quite high up, known name at the academy) within the club, who has told me there is a clause in his contract that states he has to be seriously considerded for the full time job, if Pep or Jose don't come. The board are keeping it quite, because the know the fans will be furious about the waiter taking over full time. If he fails big time, which is pretty much certain, they will lay all the blame on him. If he just muddles through & steals a micky mouse cup & the othert 2 don't come, He gets a 3 year contract. What a disgrace our board are, sorry roman your advisors are useless, like your manager.

Agree7 Disagree1

You post is useless, negative and pointless.
I have not seen the game, but will watch it on motd. Shocked by the result. I do think he has changed the team to much. But has he? Ee should be able to change 3 or 4 players and still be a decent side.
Could not get to see the game tonight as Benfica were playing.
We should be beating sides like Qpr without realy trying. I hate to say it, but I always thought, that maybe, just maybe, Villas Boas could have been the long term man we so crave. I watched him at porto and raved about him before and after we got him. He is doing well down at 3 point lane!
Anyway who knows, these days at Chelsea anything can happen, as we found out last season.
Up the blues!

Luke

We dominated possession and chances and played decent defense like we have been under Rafa, players needed to play better and we were unlucky while all the luck fell to Qpr on about 2 half decent chances. End of

The manager rotated a title contending squad and everyone says hes a Spanish waiter rubbish manager? absolutely pathetic, guess everyone has athletic physiques who writes on this webpage. Mata was replaced with a Brazilian international and Hazard a German international and everyone has ago at the manager? Will do a Di Matteo and not rotate the squad then everyone will have ago and say people are looking tired and need squad rotation. The team we started with had more than enough to beat QPR their are no excuses, this was the players poor performance, cant always blame the manager. I didn't hear everyone praising Rafa when we won 8-0 rubbish internet trolls.

PR!

Agree3 Disagree0

It's funny no name, because while I agree the manager is far from ideal, I didn't see you pipe up about him when we were winning and everyone else seemed to be behind the manager. You're a troll mate. PB is spot on. Most people on here are extremely fickle. It's not the end of the world that we lost sat home to QPR.

Someone posted a few weeks ago saying we are a young team, with a lot of new players that need time to adapt and gel with eachother. They were completely right. We ain't gonna win the title this year. While rafa put out a weaker XI today, it should have got the job done. QPR are battling relegation, so they will be going out every week and putting in a shift. We weren't up for it.

Thanks guys, no one on this forum from what i can remember wanted Benitez but he's here now and he is trying new things. He's rotating the squad and he has moved Luiz to CM which has been excellent.
The problem is he don't have a world class striker to bring off the bench like Chicarito or Dzeko, the amount of points those guys have salvaged for their teams is crazy.

As Melbourne has said this season was always meant as a transitional one. Changing the personal and style from a slower paced direct style to an up tempo short passing game. We have to embrace this change and the new players we now have. We have a new and young squad and yoyo performances are expected, just look at Aston Villa.

Im not excusing tonight's performance because it wasnt acceptable but nights like this happen, just like 8-0 one offs like the other night.

We over performed for the first 8 games then under performed for the next 8 games. Its going to be one of those seasons, we have an experienced manager who has brought some good idea's to the club. Lets get behind the team, hope for some good business in January and pray United and City stop scoring late goals.

Well we are out of the title race. Probably already were but now we are dragged back in to the top 4 race. Had we won, we were 7 points clear of arsenal. Now away to stoke and home to the gunners coming up. Must win games. Losing to qpr at home, only their second win in 21 matches.

I dread to think what will happen if mata got injured.

How can that Rafael "Spanish Waiter Stand In" not realise Mata and Hazard need to start matches? QPR played for a draw and got lucky. Poor offside decision against Lampard to deny his goal but apart from 1-2 players, everyone was dire. Southampton who already are playing a second XI against us at the weekend and we felt the need to drop Mata and Hazard? Someone tell me what has Benitez been smoking on New Years Day and today to come up with that team?
Windsor Blue
PS Slight respect to Shaun Wright-Phillips, didn't celebrate his goal and played quite well. Moses needs the ACON for a break, Marin needs a loan deal and another assessment in the summer.

Worst manager we could have got! Honestly deluded to say the least it was a bad performance granted but that's all it was. There are many worse managers around who haven't won a champions league trophy! Where are all your complaints when we are winning games?!? As to this 'must take him seriously' what a joke there won't be a clause like that in existence in any managers contract of course a manager may be given the job full time if results are good its common sense. Gentelmen - i want to raise up another discussion regarding our keepers. With Cech out of todays game i'm a little nervous, as our back up hardly ever provide an adequate service. But with Courtois at Atletico now for the second season, what do you think the club should do next year with the goalkeeper situation?

I havd seen little of Courtois and plenty of Cech. Nothing that requires a replacement, in my opinion. But the decision is about to made in the near future. What should the club do in your opinions?

JG

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Get them both together next season, let them battle it out give both a decent run then sell cech while we can still get decent money for him, same as the situation at city when it was hart and given, and watch courtois go in spain thay class him as 1 of the best in the world already !

Totally agree mate I don't rahe's one bit he's not even a striker he's an attacking mid, if we are going to sign Ba and then wait until summer for Falcao/Cavani/Higuian them I think we'd be better off signing a holding mid like M'Vila or Paulinho.

CfcBenWxm

Agree4 Disagree1

I agree I've looked into him as it looks like he's coming, he's scored about 10 goals in 2 seasons, and is a right footed left winger/left forward who is going to be 25 in 11 days time and has never had a cap for brazil, he cost them about 16 million euro and if we pay anything similar its a joke when you got Willian in the same league who would probably cost 10 million more but in my opinion would be a hell of a lot better, I thought he was arguably the best player on the pitch when we faced Donetsk ,

hi
Ed hope all is well and the festive period was merry!

i hope you can help, i have been debating the "release clauses" in general and Ba's in particular.

I have been saying that most release clauses are not as simple as meeting the release fee and with Ba's in particular being for champions league clubs only.

i would like to ask

1. is Ba's release fee only for champions league clubs.

2. what are the other aspects of a release clause? or is it as simple as meeting the required fee?

many thanks in advance Ed

Frank Lampard is one of the highest paid players at the club and, if we are honest, he isn't a regular starter anymore. Scholes and Giggs are no longer amongst the highest paid players at Man Utd but having said that they probably haven't had to take a massive wage drop from when they were in their prime - wages in the last five to ten years have gone through the roof, and are only just starting to plateau, so rather than them dropping their wages others, such as Van Persie, have just moved onto higher wages. With the financial fair play coming into effect soon I don't think Chelsea can afford to keep a bit part player on the sort of wages Lampard would want; no matter how good their performances are during the games they do play. Eventually we are going to have to look towards the signing of a high profile player in the centre of midfield, a regular starter who will also want those wages. Lampard would be looking at a substantial wage drop if Chelsea were to offer him a one year deal, with lucrative two or three year offers coming in from the likes of China and the USA would it make sense for him to sign this deal?

Lampard has been the best midfielder in the history of Chelsea Football Club but there comes a time when every player has to leave a club and fans have to thank them and wish them luck. Be it January or the summer that time has unfortunately come for Lampard.

Surewould

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Sorry Surewould, but this is tosh. CFC has always been rewarding to it's best players and of course Lampard is no different. He signed his 5 year deal at 140K a week 4, 5 years ago. The TV money and the merchandise money have evolved over those 5 years incredibly. Hence your reference to the likes of Rooney and van Persie receiving even higher wages. The wages are evolving continuously and that is a tendency we have to live with.

Listen, if we can afford to carry the contracts of Benayoun, Malouda and that type, who make no mistake combined make something in the region of what Lampard does - what difference does that make to you. We pay people money to NOT SHOW up. Now how do you come up with the idea of what should Lampard be paid in comparison with this?

Aren't we paying close to 100 K to Mr.Obi? A guy who has scored as much as Petr Cech has for the club in Premier League! I don't care what he does on the pitch, he nowhere near the quality of Mr. Makelele, who had a "licence to doe other things" than scoring goals and still scored!

I mean every outfield player should score goals. Otherwise they should take other sports, for all i care. Ever since this game was invented it was about scoring more than the opposition to win it. It is still about winning it. And to do so you have to score goals.

Enter certain Mr.Lampard. I am 34 years old and working out regularly. Not on a sportsman's daily routines, but nevertheless regularly. For Christs sake, it is no 1970's outside, where you would start to write off the athletes at the age of 28. He one of the best at the club when it comes to fitness. He is a leader. He scores and assists. On weekly basis. What else do you actually want?

He scored more than Mikel, Ramires and Romeu combined. Had he not been injured, which hardly ever is the case with him, he would have scored even more. Every coin he makes is justified in my opinion. And there may be reasons for parties to not come up to an agreement, but money should not be an issue at all.

(Mr. Owen at Manchester United was on a 50K a week and another 50K appearance bonus. Giggs is just under 90 K a week. Trust me, it's not like they are paid like 17 year olds and are fed with the love for the club. That is a full time job, where you are under worldwide pressure to perform every time you turn up for it)

Justifying it based on past dealings doesn't really help the argument for me. The time has now come with ffp that we can't carry poor contracts and we have to be honest he wouldn't be worth the money he currently gets so if he's willing to take a big cut then I'm all for keeping him but can't justify it otherwise.

I absolutely agree. It's not a sentiment. it's fact. If he is a legend it doesn't mean that he should go.

JG if Lampard will take a pay cut then yeah he should stay, I'd be delighted to have him as part of the squad for the next year or two. But is he going to take the sort of pay cut required? No chance, not when other teams are talking about giving him a pay rise!

This is just my opinion and I understand people are upset at the perceived lack of interest Chelsea have in keeping Lampard but in reality, unless he significantly lowers his wages, it's just unrealistic!

Gentelmen, of course i am somewhat biased, but definitely not sentimental. Look - let's agree that Lampard is playing as good as in any year of these past three. He is playing great football. Today. Not 5-8 years ago. Judging on his current form, physical abilities and overall commitment to Chelsea Football Club he is a sure bet to be of great service for another year or two.

Buying a world class player to fill his void would not only cost us at least 20 million in transfer fees and at least 100K weekly. That alone does not guarantee you anything. It can become next Lampard, it can turn out to be next Downing or Aquilani. Then and if that certain player starts performing well, he's up to the payrise which inevitably happens: David Luiz, Ramires, Mata, Obi (hell knows why).

So don't look for sense in numbers. We have got Chalobah, Romeu and De Bruyne in the ranks. All three look like they are the part. They'll require playing time or be sold.

My thinking is if we stick to Frank for another year or two, then we could bring in those guys and fairly distribute they playing time as manager sees fit. You just can't chop Lampard and tell De Bruyne - this year you're our number 8. Lampard and those guys can train and play together and learn from him. That's invaluable. No disrespect to Bremen and Watford, but that's surely nothing like playing for CFC.

But, having said that, if Frankie is up for the pastures anew with some ridiculous money thrown at him in States, or Asia and he wants to take it - fair to him. He's as good a midfielder as there ever was. And he gave all the best to Chelsea.
