Suppose any team in england sign teenagers from south america or europe. during there stay in england, they fall in love and get married to an british national. After few years they could also become british nationals. So that player would be called a HOME GROWN or English player. please give me reply. It has happened in cricket. When ex-pakistan off spinner saqlain mushtaq married a british lady while playing county and after he got british nationality, his name was touted as part of english tea.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

They don't need British nationality they just need to play in the league for a few years before they reach 21 {Ed02's Note - They need to play in England or Wales for three complete seasons before the end of the seasons which begins in the year they are 21. There is no need to fall in love or get married.}

Apprently Liverpool also have an interest in A. Johnson, but nothing is really that clear yet. Would be a great signing for Chelsea.

Are PSG just planning a massive squad overhaul? Change more or less their whole starting 11, with Pastore in mind. I mean they already have a decent midfield with Sissoko, Nene and Matuidi now, and just to add Erdinc and Gameiro up ahead, so really what is the need? Just going to turn out like Man city.

Given our record with big signings recently, I am amazed people are so desperate for the club to spend £40m on Pastore.
Personally I am happier about the Oriol signing, in principle, if not from seeing him.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

I agree, im very excited about his development at Chelsea, and having seen him a bit i think he can make an impact this season. A midfielder who can maintain possesion and defend hard (being able to play CB means he has a good defensive brain unlike other DMs around), will hopefully turn out to be a great chelsea player

we were never going to get the south american players with barca and rm in for them .aguero good player but who knows in the pl, the same as pastore we do need width and pace but still a long time to go .mu havnt brought superstars and they r fav for pl lets wait and see keep the faith

I wouldnt worry too much if we dont get Pastore, it would seem that most Argentinian footballers are pure mercaneries anyway just going for the big wages and not ambition. I think the guy we will eventually get is Moutinho whos been doing a sterling job for FC Porto and who the manager knows well. We dont want these guys who come to raise their profile then go to Madrid after a year or so.

i would like to know how abramovic or avb think we can improve on last season as the squad were old last year

Believable2 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2011 17:54:59
simple fact is yes we have an old squad and were everyone is pushing forward we seem to have stopped

van der wiel
lukalu
aguero
neymar
modric
pastore?

but we sign a few kids to loan bk out or to arrive later if this is progress and benayoun gets man of the match in the last friendly what a season we can look forward too (not)
1st man utd
2nd man city
3rd liverpool
4th chelsea
5th arsenal

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I was actually pretty impressed with Benayoun in the last game, inventive, creative and good use of the ball. By far our most effective midfielder. He is a quality footballer and given the chance I think he can be a very useful squad member.

Pastore Is Just 2 years more experienced than joshua. if we play joshua regularly this season, there would be no need for guys likes pastore next season. instead of buying lads from italy, we should follow manutd system. this time they have signed guys like young, jones who are english players.

modric is better than javier as he has experience of playing in england.

PSG are playing in the Emirates Cup this week - ergo Pastore's representatives in London at the same time.

I've a feeling we won't get him and he'll be off to PSG with Leonardo in Lique 1 for 40 odd million Euros. Anyhows, he looks like he'd snap in a heavy wind I think he's too weak for the Prem at present.

Sneider and to a lesser extent Modric would've been more of a suitable buy IMHO.

Gettin a bit fed up of it all if truth be told but probly not half as cheesed off as some of the Eds.

We'll get there - but it's hard goin though

even if we do sign anyone now, it will be too late. weve missed out on ashley young and aguero and sanchez and neymar who would have been good signings for us. we need to seriously bid for adam johnson, who else is there? i dont think we need another midfielder but we desperately need wingers, as for right back i do admire boswinga, but he needs to stay fit to be effective

We are not completely reliant on foreign or average players in the premier, joining our club. Some of our youngsters have great potential:
Josh Mc,
Sturridge,
Van Arnholt,
Bertrand,
Rakovic (spelling),
Kakuta,
Chabolah,
If we find the right player & the right price, willing to be paid, the going rate for his services, then fair enough buy him. But being held to ransom by some primma donner has never worked in the past, so why would it work now. At least our youngsters have the right attitude.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

29 Jul 2011 17:34:36
Let Josh Mc have a good run in the side. It might be a gamble, but then, so is signing an average player in Modric & South Americans with no experience of our game in this country.

i cant understand why so many people want malouda to move on........if seen a lot of people say it on here and on other forums, yet the same people are crying out for us to buy new wingers, the man has an excellent season with us, fair enough he sufferd a dip in form but so did the whole team, i sometimes think people excpect us to spend money for no reason more than we have it, or just for the excitment of it, players such as malouda, lampard, terry, cech, torres, cole need to stay, call it our core players, we need more creativity in the centre of the park......pastore would be ideal but if the lads more intrested in money then leave him off to PSG we will survive, modric would be a better target as he has experiance in the PL an has also expressed a strong desire to play for us altho 30+mill is excessive, i prefer the idea of giving the youngsters a go after all what are they there for?? sturridge is a fabulous prospect he needs game time, whats the point bringing in 30-40mil strikers? we have a nice blend of young and old (drogs, torres, sturridge) realistically we need a creative midfielder, right/ winger/foward and maybe a young right back, after all remember the form of bosingwa before the long lay off? phenomanal myself the ideal targets would be as follows

luka modric-(maybe not worth 30+mill tho)

eden hazard-(i know he is more a left wing than right but he can play in the centre aswell as both flanks so he is universal and extreamly creative)

Miralem Pjanic-(hardworking attacking midfielder plays for lyon in france)

a young right sided defender is a tricky one there isnt a major list of young talented play out there, one player i liked was sebastien corchia who was untill last month at le mans in the french second tier, an excellent attacking wingback much like bosingwa, in regard to whats available i think we would be better of to stick with bosingwa/ivanovic at a puch tho prehaps Darijo Srna of shaktar donetsk would be a good target

we have the lad van arnholt to cover the left side which david luiz can play also if needs be, centre back were ok i think terry, luiz, ivanovic, alex(if he stays), rajkovic(pending work permit), kalas again a nice blend of young and old, just add two or three midfielders at the most and we will be ok.......i think this could be the season for the younger players to push on under AVB cant wait for the season to begin CAREFREE........

PS if you havent got bored of this essay yet thank you for reading lol:-)

also ED could you tell me if the transfer of romeu oriel is completed yet or are we still negotiating with the lad? thanks {Ed018's Note - he is in Columbia but from my understanding Chelsea is sending someone there for his medical}

I'm confused, yesterday it was Chelsea and PSG holding discussions with pastore, then reports saying he is signing for PSG then hearing pastore is not even holding talks with Chelsea now? How embarrassing if we miss out on another tip target, modric neymar falcao Sanchez pastore, anyone else turned us down so far ed?

Surprise Surprise, we miss out on yet another quality signing. Pastore agrees to join who, oh sorry yeah PSG, Are they a better prospect than the CFC. No. Great, so who's next? No Modric, Sanchez or Neymar. Nothing for Mata. I know.... lets go for Scott Parker, Hes world class
I know theres 5 weeks left of the window but in fairness who is there?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I agree we seem to have made a right mess of things regards transfers.

Agree0 Disagree0

People need to understand that we can compete with these Super Rich Clubs when it comes to wages, and with most players it seems like wages are a big motivation behind moves. While we are richer than most clubs, there a select few than can out bid us and put up better wages. Therefore people need to stop moaning that we aren't signing these players. It's not because we are doing something wrong, it's because we simply cannot match the wages on offer to the players.

Pastore will be signing for psg, with the money behind them and the drive to succeed they offered stupid money into the deal..
Chelsea miss out on another player, AVB seems to be happy with benayoun and young josh as the attacking midfielders

4th here we come

Believable4 Unbelievable1

29 Jul 2011 14:25:11
AVB: "Nicolas, Florent, John Obi, Salo, Yuri come into my office for a second"
The players: "Whats wrong boss?"
AVB: "Everyone at CFC is gratfeul for what you have done for the club but we no longer beleive you fit the bill for what we are looking for, so you are all welcome to leave if a club comes in for you, we will be buying new players and they will take your places, so if you have not left by the start of the season then you will not be included in the preliminary 25 man squad and will end up playing reserve football all season. We appreciate this will cost the club alot of money but it will be worth it for the fans to enjoy watching us play again. All the best. Oh Florent tell your best buddy Didier that he will most likely spend most of the time on the bench this season due to Nando being our main striker."

AVB (on the phone to RA): "Hey Roman i've told the players they can leave so now we can start buying some more, put a bid of £45 million in for Tevez, £15 million for Mata, £12 million for Johnson and £30 million for Hazard. Cheers Boss."

Too simple??

Am I the only person starting to get angry about our lack of movment in this transfer window it looks like we are about to miss out on yet another player. At this rate we are going to sign nobody, what was the point in sacking Carlo if we are keeping the same under performing clowns we had last season. We are desperate for some width, pace and flair.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

You're not the only person getting annoyed, im not looking to this upcoming season at all if this is how its going to stay

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2011 14:07:46
Ed, I am seriously concerned about Chelsea. If we miss out on Pastore then I think we can honestly say that we have got major issues...
I admire Chelsea for trying to reduce wage bill but we are missing out on all the best players and even when players like Mata and Lukaku come along with lower wage demands and lower transfer fees we still mess around.
We need two decent wingers, a creative and a holding midfielder. Plus a striker and we need to clear out a load of old players...
Do you have any insight on what I going on?
If AVB doesn't get his act together then I will have to agree with Desailly as you already get the feeling AVB just doesn't have the balls to get rid of people like Malouda and Drogba.
AVB will be gone by Christmas with this squad and Torres won't get a look in

On reflection, I wonder if a strategy of not signing expensive, established stars this year, accepting that we will not win the Prem/CL and instead focusing on younger players makes sense. This way, at least we get the benefit of the older players guiding them. A risky game though as we still need to finish top 3.
Probably the rebuilding job that Carlo should have focused on.

And you think Roman would accept that?

If Pastore has any ambition and belief in himself then he will choose to play in the PL.

True Blue

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Agree 100%, but no doubt he will take the money and the easy life in a poor french league and in 2 years seal a "dream" move to Barca or Madrid.
