Kenny Miller played well against the mancs in the CL, and it was this that started the clubs interest, they think he may improve in the Chelsea set up, qualifys as a home grown player, price not to high, wages not a problem, and scores goals for fun, good poacher keeps defenders busy, good impact player from the bench, not sounding such a bad idea realy, and if a Chelsea player is used in a swap or loan deal the price may lower.

{Editor's Note: Aside from not qualifying as a homegrown player, Chelsea have absolutely no interest in Kenny Miller.}

Question to the editor.

How good are the finances of Chelsea? With the Financial Fair Play coming in it should be really hard to get in big names even now.

Chelsea kicked some big earners (Ballack, Deco) and reduced the wages of some others. Are they in the position to buy some big names who will evidently want some big wages?

I always read about Aguero, Kaka and other big names but that doesn't sound pretty realistic. I don't think Chelsea is on a same level in terms of turnover like Madrid, Barcelona, United or even Arsenal to be able to buy big names (especially some names like Pato, Aguero) in the next few seasons.

So is it likely that Chelsea will make a lot more "value signings" and rely more on their youth in the future until they could rise their merchandising and turnover enough to be able to buy players of the highest bracket? {ed's note - big name players like Kaka shift enough shirts to cover their higher wages, those can be brought in. The problem is adding quality players who play in other positions, ie centre backs, they just don't bring in the financial benefits. Things are tight, but not to the point putting the club in trouble, it is just a case of shifting focus onto younger players who can be sold if they are not up to scratch.}

Hey ed,
what are your thoughts on Ashley cole and Ivanovic?
do you think we might buy a replacement like coentrao? and do you think that we might try to buy van der wiel or santon? or possibly dani alves? {ed's note - there are decent replacements for Cole in your youth ranks, though I have yet to see signs of him needing a replacement just yet. Ivanovic is just not a good enough centre back to play there regularly, fine as cover, but a right back is very much needed. Van Der Wiel and Santon would be good signings I think.}
