With Man City and PSG effectively be owned by countries, it makes the transfer windows very distorted.
Anyway I suppose winning the Premiership and the Champions League this season will be all the sweeter!

Guess we aren't as fortunate as other pages that Ed still updates especially these last few days. Doesn't matter to be honest, if you look at it this way, whoever we sign at the end of the day remains whether Ed tells us or not we just have to suck it up and wait for an official announcement from the club or maybe little info on other pages.

I know most us on here have to suffer but I guess it's our cross to bare, hopefully we find a solution to the trolls on here cause more often than not it's only our page that Ed002 refuses to help. 2 days to go, we'll survive.

Couldn't agree more ELI.
Come back the Eds!

29 Aug 2017 21:55:04
In the last few days of the window an update would be pointless tbh. We know the players we have an interest in but everything is all up in the air in terms of who we'll actually get in. Anything can happen in an instant without anybody knowing which makes the last few days of the window too unpredictable. Nobody saw Luiz or Alonso coming until the last day last year.

Good posts Eli. Just frustrating that's all.

29 Aug 2017 22:05:08
Exactly that LondonBlue. Just maybe a small insight into what's going on. We know we still want Sandro, but is that completely dead? Also Sanches, with Liverpool dropping out, just wondered if we were still interested? So many questions.

29 Aug 2017 22:29:59
Strangely if the Eds had been giving us their unique insight into the transfer market it might well have stopped some of the ridiculous and negative comments on the site!
If only there was a way to stop these trolls!

Maybe it was the constant questions from some users. I can think of 1 or 2 myself. But that's for another day. Maybe there's just the slimmest of chances that Ed002 will rear their head and give us some info!

Left footed LWM and CM are priorities, not RWM. Without backup for Alonso we are in a trouble. CM as well.

This is where I would get annoyed. Sanchez is available and we're probably just going to let City swoop in and get him. The way I see it is he's an improvement on Willian and Pedro and if we want to challenge for the champions league we need to be ruthless.

What is the fascination with these average English players were paying 35-40m for in Ox and Drinkwater. I honestly think Dujon Sterling would make a better rotation option at wingback than the Ox yes he's young but he's a powerful lad.

Loftus-Cheek has shown fantastic talent in his first two games for Huddersfield. Cesc is world class on the ball but in a midfield two against pace we get over run. I know this would be an unpopular opinion but it's just my opinion.

My bad I meant to put his first two games against Huddersfield and Liverpool but thanks for reiterating that twice.

Just remember how average we all thought Alonso was. And Moses we all thought that ship had sailed long ago, he'd been on loan to a host of premier league clubs. Then Conte comes in and completely transforms Moses into one of our most valuable players and one of the very first names on the teamsheet every week. Conte can turn these so called average English players into gems. Conte is a the master at this.

I'll never forget Giacarini of Sunderland at the Euros under Conte last summer, Conte had him playing his heart out.

Agree9 Disagree1

29 Aug 2017 15:16:14
If he can do that with Moses alonso imagine what he could do with Alex Sandro who's a lot better, could turn them into very best in world, or aurier who has huge potential but wrong attitude, imagine the gem conte would get out of someone already at very high standard instead of creating a gem from scratch so to speak.

Agree1 Disagree8

29 Aug 2017 16:26:45
I'm not saying Moses and Alonso are bad players they're very good players and under-rated and I love them both.

But just imagine how much of a force we could be under Conte in europe if the board could actually sign world class players like Alex Sandro and Sanchez. We could actually be reaching semi finals and better in Europe regularly like we did around 09/ 10 season.

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Aug 2017 17:08:35
Juvehave said they are not going to sell Sandro, according to reports we have tested there resolve with at least two offers. If they have a late change of heart, I'm sure we will revive our interest.
Arsenal have continually said Sanchez is staying and will play out the last year of his contract at Arsenal. Last night some press sources said the player had put in a transfer request, this was denied by Arsenal. I can see no change in the Sanchez situation!
Anyway what we as fans consider to be world class or an upgrade on our current players is, other than a debating point, almost irrelevant!
The club will pay a fee that it considers reasonable and for the types of players the manager wants NOT the fans!

Agree6 Disagree4

29 Aug 2017 17:25:05
Can people stop talking about who we'd like ok the banter page as tom thinks we think that this is direct route to the board, it's opinions and discussions on who and where we would like,

Agree2 Disagree8

29 Aug 2017 17:41:14
My point is, there is NO point being annoyed about players we aren't going to sign.
My top signing would have been Verati but it's not going to happen so I move on!
Let's support the club, manager and players. I believe they are all doing their best for the fans!
Let's have some banter about the players we've got, the performances, the proposed new stadium, referees or even the price of our new shirt.
You can gather from what I'm saying I'm bored and pi--ed off with the transfer window, the media and another window largely without the Eds!

Agree7 Disagree3

I would like to say something in general about teams and players. Every team must have players (creators) who are able to create and players who are able to enable (bees) creators to create. So as much as team needs players like Fabregas or Hazard, the team needs guys like Moses, Alonso, Kante etc. Football is a collective game (team work) and team with 5-6 world class players doesn't mean successful team. This is the reason why I like and prefer "team creators" like Conte or Simeone than spenders like Mourinho.

Ed001, I read a while ago that you'd said you'd look into doing a chelsea transfer update regarding players we're looking at etc, and I was wondering if you, by any chance, have had the time to do so?

I realise the transfer window is closing g in a few days anyway so we'll all have our answers then anyway. However I'm just an impatient sod!

Thanks for everything you and all the other eds have done and continue to do for all of us!

{Ed001's Note - I am really sorry, I haven't had a chance, it has just been too busy to get anything done.}

Reports that we're going to make a move for Mahrez now. I guess he'd be good cover for Hazard and competition for Pedro/ Willian.

PS. Should we just buy the whole Leicester team as cover while we're at it 😂.

I live in Leicesster and going to London on Thursdaynso easily can give a lift to few of their players.

Why go for Mahrez when there maybe an actual world class player available in Sanchez for an extra 20 million.

I feel there still something in the working for Sandro to Chelsea I saw on SSN where Spinazzola was talking about his intention to go back to Juventus this summer. He is the replacement for Sandro. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Eds,

I was looking at a few posts but couldn't find much from you on the following.

1) I know you said a while back not to hold our breath about a possible move for Sánchez, would that still be the case now even after he has handed in a transfer request?

If not, is that because Arsenal wouldn't sell to us, Sánchez wouldn't be interested or we simply don't want him?

2) Are Chelsea interested in Belotti? And does he have any particular destinations in mind if he were to leave Torino?

Thanks in advance and for all your time and effort.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I wouldn't expect Sanchez to end up at Chelsea, Chelsea maintain interest in a Belotti as do AC Milan}

29 Aug 2017 09:08:29
If you would pick one more midfielder for Chelsea right now between Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater: WHO WOULD YOU PREFER AND WHY?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2017 09:20:48
Danny Drinkwater may seem a less glamorous signing than RB, and case for RB is that when at his best he might be better than DD; but would go for DD because reckon he is far more consistent and had a very good understanding with Kante when at Leicester: would fit in well alongside him. Barkley up and down in performances, didn't quite live up to early reputation at Eveton. DD better I'd reckon as team/ squad member in terms of temperament.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2017 10:38:40
Drinkwater. He's a 7/ 10 player every game, you know what you get with him. Plus he and Kante won the league together so they have a good understanding in midfield.

Barkley. In my opinion he's just overrated and injury prone. So no thanks.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Aug 2017 11:21:19
Your analyses explains it all. I prefer Drinkwater too.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2017 13:46:23
Drinkwater every time. Consistent, good in the air, nice passer of the ball, the steady player all clubs need. Barkley was and still is all promise and I cannot see him ever fulfilling that early promise. He seems to have a very short attention span and Conte would not tolerate that.

I still think that there will be a shock signing for us before Thursday's deadline. Not sure who though.

I think so too- may be a big name. It's just a feeling though; May be Alex Sandro, a Real Madrid player or A. Belotti.

29 Aug 2017 13:48:50
I agree. I have felt we will pull something out of the hat and fancied it would be Sandro as it appears to be a discussion that has quietly slipped under the radar. However, if they force Asensio on us I suppose we would just have to live with it!
