I believe Remy, at this moment in time, is a perfect signing. he's had 2 good seasons in the bpl for 2 distinctly average teams. he's quick, tall, athletic, good with the ball at feet and on the shoulder of the defenders and most importantly: HE KNOWS WHERE THE GOAL IS. And for 8.5mil I don't think there is a better forward around for that kind of money. I think if Didi leaves next year, then we can see how Destro has progressed and make a move for him. Imagine that forward line:
Costa
Remy
Destro
That would be terrifying.
So for now, Remy would be an amazing piece of business and next year, depending on form, move in for Destro.
Should be an interesting few days

I'd just caution that Demba Ba looked great at Newcastle too, but he was never really a perfect fit for us.

Being constantly on the shoulder to run in behind is all well and good, but the teams we struggled with last year were rarely pushed up that far against us.

Plus I'm really hoping that Bamford is at least tried as number 3 next year, as long as he has a good loan, and assuming Didi retires.

I tlreally don't know why you all are so negative about demba ba. He was good player and performed well every time he had a chance last year.

Demba ba was not good enough plain and simple .

I am actually really excited by Remy. He's big, strong, fast as hell, really underrated in the air, decent hold up and link up play. Knows the premier league, scores goals in the premier league. Steal at 8mil and better value than destro at 20milif your asking me. Prepared to be on the bench and fight for a spot. I think he is the perfect back up to DC.

Ed002 is a deal for Remy more likely then one for Destro?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Probably.}

Well that's no fun

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ED are the club looking to bring in a Centre Back in the remaining days?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the info ed002. I am disappointed that it is not going to be destro. Strange how roma were hocking him around and are now adamant he will not be sold. Think remy will be a stop gap a bit like be was if I am honest.

Ed002 are Chelsea interested in remy or is destro still primary target for replacing Torres (if he moves).

As much as I find it acceptable that people are 'glad' Torres has left, I do find it disrespectful that people are celebrating his departure. I agree that he wasn't at his best when he became a Chelsea player, but he did give it his all, and we never had any controversy with him like Balotelli had at City and Tevez at City too.

For one, I thank him for his service and wish him the best of luck at Milan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with you, man. He never hit good form while at chelsea, but indeed he was very professional throughout his time at the club.
I wish him all the best at milan and I hope he rediscovers some good form.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's more relief than anything else. No ones mocking him or holding anything against him. Stuff happens he didn't work out, everyone is relieved we can finally move on and so can he.
Hope he rediscovers some form. Plus I remember when kalou, malouda left the club they got less sympathy. Torres can't complain we've been great with him, and everyone is relieved.

He was poor at Liverpool 18 months before he moved to Chelsea. It was just a shocking piece of business instigated by Abramovich who was a massive fan of Torres. I am not really celebrating the fact he is leaving but at the same time he just isn't good enough for Chelsea and needed to be moved on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea as a club did do everything, but there have been countless fans that have slated throughout, and really that does no good. Torres was no less than a fantastic footballer, and you're right, since he had his knee operation at Liverpool he was half the player, so a poor piece of business. But risks are taken sometimes and he was always a large risk. I'll miss him, always has been a favourite of mine, but it's time to move on, as it was with Frank albeit in different circumstances.

I really hope to see the old Fernando back at AC Milan, in a less physical and slightly 'easier' league as they say.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2014 10:44:24
Probably you who said chelsea fas didn't love him haven't been in any match as shed end and mathew hardings always cheered for torres with songs and big love

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course I've been, but both times I went there were a number of fans that were very critical of him. I'm not saying all, but there were some. Also, I was not saying 'ALL' fans criticize him, I just said a lot of fans did, no specific areas mentioned either.

Mrs. Drogba and gentlemen, Fernando Torres has left the building, have a good Friday night. I know I will.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Only if we get a good replacement in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't like that it's only a loan. The club probably have to pay a good part of his wages.
Hopefully a good back-up gets bought.

Not posted for a good few years now, but on the site daily.
I am a bit disappointed with all the anti Torres posts. I know he never did live up to the price tag, but you can't say he didn't put in a shift and try. I am gutted it never worked out for him, as he seems a proper professional. I can think of worse signings, ie, Kezman, Sutton, Shevchenko. He will probably end up hitting some real form at AC, well I hope so.
I would like to wish him all the best for the future and hope he finds that happiness!

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly I think we blues should be proud of ourselves, with the way we handled what will now be know as the "50 mil" mistake. Torres should have nothing but good things to say about the club and us fans. What happened to him was a tragedy and its about time he moved on, and started a new. We all wish him the best of luck, we can all move on now and hopefully get a decent backup.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, the club and a lot of the fans did handle it very well, we stuck by the lad for longer than people would do for most players. I do think he went some way to paying back some of that money with the goal at nou camp and goal against benfica. He has won pretty much everything in the game, so I think he deseves a little more respect, not just from us at Chelsea, but the media and other footballing people.
Bring on Everton!

To everyone that's commenting about the fact that the Roma president has said that Destro is not for sale, he was offered to several clubs a couple of weeks ago. So unless something has changed, which I doubt, then there is still a high chance of us getting him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I really hope you are wrong.

Though not confirmed but injury to Costa and the striking strenght of City means we need another world class striker is a must. We need option of the same level with Costa. Falcao seems unsettled @ Monaco and might come cheaper than we think. He. Has proven himself in all d clubs he had played for and even different to Costa for tactical changes that teams will require. ED do u why Chelsea are not overly interested in Falcao.I also feel we anoda CM as Cesc may not be defensive enof for bigger teams and should be pushed to #10 in such cases. Carvalho my choice. your opinions guys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I think it comes down to the fact that Falcao wants a move to Real Madrid}

Costa is available for selection tomorrow ffs.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 11:04:02
Roma say destro is at all cost not for sale, I'd go for aubameyang but I have a feeling we will get stung with the falcao loan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You could be right about Falcao.

Agree0 Disagree0

I expect Destro will sign soon enough.

What is the latest on Destro?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Allegedly he is not for sale.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 10:03:56
Quotes coming from Roma saying destro not for sale is a bit worrying but hopefully just to appease fans or get an extra couple of million. If torres does leave still think we should push for cavani (even if we loose oscar). If that is not realistic push for isco or reus and make schurrle back up striker? I am also hoping for us to make a move for pogba but know this is highly improbable!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 12:32:34
So let me get this straight, its highly improbable to make a move for Pogba but not for the other transfers you stated? Yeah, no makes zero sense, think the probability of any of that happening is nulle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Eli thanks for your input. As has been stated by the eds cavani could be available if they got oscar and isco was offered to us by Real Madrid earlier in the window. Ed002 also said that 4 clubs pl clubs have approached Dortmund for reus this window so would imagine we would have been on that list. Pogba I think is less realistic at this moment in time as we are not short on midfield numbers. If torres goes a replacement will need to be bought in so the others are therefore more likely!

Agree0 Disagree0

You really hate Oscar don't you.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't really hate oscar think he is a good player but in his position there are many great players that we could probably get to replace him. I think cavani is one of the very top strikers in world football so I would sacrifice oscar if it enabled us to get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 14:32:15
I don't really want cavani that much so I would much more prefer to keep oscar. The only player I could have swap him with would be reus as he is something incredible similar level to hazard in my eyes

Agree0 Disagree0

Frankly speaking Reus is miles bette. pplayer than Hazard. I am afraid we are not that lucky to sign Reus.

Really hope the Remy rumours are true - brilliant for Newcastle last season and a snip at £8.5mill

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It seems that you like similar players as I do.

ED there is talk about Manchester United pushing hernandez and welback out of team if its true should we consider a move for eigther one of them especially hernandez!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are you kidding me? We should sign the backup strikers for a team that finished 7th and is currently 13th? Welbeck can't finish to save his life and hernandez has no ball playing qualities.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 06:00:08
if costa is going out for 6 weeks, I don't think chelsea will let go torres!
