I agree, what we should try to understand as fans(not actual players) is that the likes of schurrle, mikel and salah, although talented , are not first choice starters therefore when they get a chance often try too hard to impress to their own detriment rather than playing for the team. I understand that we would like to see the youngsters given a start but can you imagine 5 or 6 given a start and trying to impress Jose as individuals, we would have got beaten by Shrewsbury. We didn't, we won, still alive and on track. Be happy about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, I stated we shouldn't have been negative at the end, we shoulda made easy work of it and put more in. You're making out as if we was playing terrible players, against man united. We need to be better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow what's with the negativity towards me? Am I really one of the guys that whines after every game? I myself certainly don't think so. Only thing I said about last night's game was that it was a shame that Baker and/or Brown didn't get a run out.
I'm always happy after a win.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look we all get disappointed with some performances but at the end of the day we are happy with the win! Leave it as that, people are entitled to an opinion. so if some of you don't like what people's thoughts are then nobody's holding a gun to your head forcing you to read it or reply! Getting tedious with this bickering now! We all support the same team & I'm sure every fan is happy being unbeaten & winning games regardless of the performance as that's what football is all about!

Agree with Mr situation88 :) let's fill this page with love and interesting discussions.

Hey guys, not a personal attack at all on my behalf and completely agree with situations post and I apologise to anyone I may have offended. We all as fans lift the bar higher as our team performs better but I feel as the "best" team in the EPL (at the moment) it is so hard to give all of the youngsters a go. If they are good enough they will eventually get their chance. The cream rises to the top but it's hard for the youngsters when we are already the creme de la creme. It is, as situation stated all about winning, and we are doing just that are we not?

Agree0 Disagree0

Your not offending anyone Kiwi, were not that soft ;)

Got a bit lucky in the four nations kiwi, we were going easy on you

(That is if you are from New Zealand and not a random dude with 'kiwi' in your name lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course we all want more because we have set the standard so high already this year & it's the fans who drive the club forward! I don't know if it's just me but I can actually see a huge improvement from last year, I haven't felt threatened by any team so far & always confident we can beat any team Europe at the moment so let's all just get behind the team & the manager & believe in what he's trying to achieve

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll admit that my disappointment with the game stems from the fact that we've played well this season and I was expecting the same type of performance. Even though the conditions were poor, and our team was made up with youngsters, those who've had little game time and those returning from injury, I guess I was still expecting to see us dominate the way we have in other games this season.
It was also largely in part to do with coming off the back of the Utd game where we dropped points so late on.
But taking the game as it was, I'm happy with how well the younger players performed and that we came away with a win.

Wow . that was some celebration by Drogba tonight. You'd have thought he had just scored a last minute equaliser against MUFC, but no, a goal against Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup.

Priceless!

{Ed018's Note - trying to stir it up a bit I see}

Nice try bud

Exactly Aron, I'm realistic enough to realise that I could only wish to be half as good as DD's left testicle and I love the fact that scoring for our club brings that out in him, whoever it is we are playing.

Just watched game, typical cup tie hard work but won through.
There were several players who are not regulars.
Thought Christianson, ake did well.
Mikel was mikel negative and slow. Also neither schurrle or Salah really took there chance to shine. Both tried to much and both couldn't have hit a barn door with there shooting.
Thought zouma was ok but needs to time his jumps better at corners.
Oscar worked really hard and never gave in.
One big observation we have become use to courtois mopping up all the crosses, Czech was the same as usual didn't come for anything.
The main thing was we are through

Watching the game against Shrewsbury, and just typical, more negative defending turns into a goal, here comes the slamming of Mikel too. However, drogba now has two. go for the hattrick son!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The game was disappointing. No movement in attack, very little creativity and despite winning very little positive to take from the game.

One of the things that typified our performance was a freekick in the 72nd minute in their half, and the ball didn't even go forward an inch.

What else did you expect? The pitch was poor, the weather wasn't much better, a lot of these players have had little if not no game time what so ever and these kind of away cup ties are always tough. All that counts is Chelsea won and are through.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought the fringe players could have actually impressed Jose, would have liked more youngsters.

Feel a bit sorry for Brown and Baker. It's a shame the starters couldn't get a little cushion so they could get that cameo appearance. Schurrle especially has been anonymous this game. Think Brown or Baker could have certainly done an equal job.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think Salah was ar worse than Schurrle. Overall though there was nothing good or positive from our attacking players in general. Only thing I take away from the game is that Christensen, Ake and Zouma played well. Otherwise the game was boring.

Would have loved to have seen Baker start over Oscar seen as its only shrewsbury. Happy to see Christensen and Ake start looking forward to watching them although I hope Christensen's cb and move Zouma to the right. Drogba must be knackered after United. Hope we are in a good position to bring izzy brown on second half.

{Ed018's Note - Drogba won't be able to walk for the next week after this}

Disagree christensen is better on the ball n smaller than zouma so much more useful right back

I don't want to necessarily bring the subject to the surface again but . . was 'the best player in the Premiership' di Maria actually on the pitch against us on Sunday?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah he was. He was the one who got and then took the free kick that let to their equalizer. Didn't you watch the game till the end? ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

He was the guy who took an extra couple of steps after Ivanovic clipped him, before deciding to fall over. Also got quite a good view of him smashing the ball into the upper tiers a few times in the first half.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't mean to imply that he played a good game. Just that in the end despute a bad game, he was still decisive.

With Iva and Aspi out for the next 2 matches who should play right back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bran is only out for the Shrewsbury match I think.

What are people's opinion on Mario Balotelli? I reckon most of the negative news around him have been unwarranted. He hasn't been amazing but he hasn't been as bad as the media have made out for him.

Gerrard, Markovic and Lovren, who have been worse, haven't got this type of negativity surrounding them.

I feel only but upset for him, although he is a lazy player, who probably only cares about himself
