Use our rumours form to send us chelsea transfer rumours.

Chelsea's transfer window gets complicated everyday. Today It looks like Leon Bailey, Christian Pulisic are all available (players we all thought would take us to the next level based on the fact that we needed them even before Sarri arrived) yet it seems we are more interested in central midfield and central defense (positions where we seem have a lot of options esp after buying Jorginho which is an excellent import) . Bringing in Rugani as a player in our defense to help establish Sarri's brand of football is good but we really have to look at signing two of Leon Bailey, Pulisic and Martial (once Chelsea sells Willian) - for our future, progress of Sarri's brand of football and continuation of our dominance. We have an attacking coach yet there has no new players in the attacking positions- strange.

Looking forward to watching the match. Keeping a close eye on skriniar for inter, looks a great defender and reminds of vidic but a lot better on the ball.

He looks very good player mate, if you mixed Terry's aggression and die hard defending approach with Rio's calmness and passing out from the back then you would get skriniar.

Well that worked just like one of my bets. I say someone is good and he has a stinker of a game and misses a pen haha.

Hey Folks,

I know it's not the rite time to ask as there are still a few more days of the Transfer Window to do business with both Ins and Outs, however if the Window was to close now, where do You think Chelsea would finish in the Prem.

I ask this question of the Ed's to, just for a bit of fun.

Top four should be the aim, but I do think it will take time for the players to adjust to the way Sarri likes his teams to play . I think we will have to be quite patient in the first few months of the season .
I would settle for top four and hopefully Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek breaking into the first team, with the view of building again for a title push the following season playing the Sarri way.

Forgot to add Ampadou to the youngsters being integrated into the first team.

Hey Superfrank,

I think You're spot on with it taking a while before We start to see the fuits of Sarri's traing ground labour. I hope both the Fans and Roman keep patience if We don't come out of the traps at break neck speed.

I think it's too early to give a proper opinion but I think We'll miss out on Top 4 again unfortunately. I just don't think the squad is good or been freshened up enough.

I hope We have Fun watching Us again though and We can see real progress being made.

KTBFFH!

I think with the current squad we should be aiming for top 3. Can't see United doing well this season with such a bad atmosphere surrounding the club and their team is very unbalanced. Still think we're better than Spurs as well and Arsenal are a bit of an unknown this coming season. City and Liverpool both look very strong however and I would expect them to be top two. Never ever write us off though, we should know that by now.

I think because My expectations are fairly low I might be pleasantly surprised. The last time I had poor expectations We Won the league and made the FA Cup Final so You never know I guess.

I think if We can keep Our Better players and get them signed up to new contracts and genuinely commited plus add a few more quality players We could get Ourselves into the Top 3 but I just don't see much business being done now, particularly significant business but stranger things have happened.

I'm just looking forward to hopefully enjoying watching Chelsea play again. I know we have won trophys but our football has been very defensive and slow the last few seasons.
If Sarri can get us playing the way he got Napoli playing then I will be over the moon.
I'm sure we will have many highs and lows ( hopefully more highs) over the season but if Sarri can get his message across I'm sure it will be an exciting year for Chelsea.

I totally agree, I want to enjoy the style of Our play regardless of Who We are playing and the result.

I am eternally grateful for the Players We have signed, Coaches We have employed and ofcourse the trophies We have Won in the Abramovich Era. It has really been incredible and I hope it continues without end.

Having said all that, I never assume it will just continue or that We are somehow entitled to be successful. I look at Man City and Man Utd and it's nigh on impossible for Chelsea to compete financially with either and nor do I expect them to. Also there are the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juve and PSG in Europe who are wealthier than Us.

So My thinking is We need to do things smarter and We need to be more entertaining. I would rather finish 4th being a joy to watch rather than 3rd and a chore.

If You are not Winning trophies You need to atleast be a pleasure to watch lol.

Few thoughts on Morata. The guy has never been anything like a prolific footballer, he has made over 25 league appearances every season since 2014-15 with the following returns.

2014-15 at Juventus he made 29 league appearances and scored 8 goals.
2015-16 at Juventus he made 34 league appearances and scored 7 goals.
2016-17 at Real Madrid he made 26 league appearances and scored 15 goals.
2017-18 at Chelsea he made 31 league appearances and scored 11 goals.

41 goals in 120 games over the past four seasons! This isn't a player that we should expect to be a prolific scorer of goals, and he certainly isn't a player who you can rely on as your number one striker with a guaranteed 20 goals a season; as you would expect for the amount we spent. He is at times a very tidy footballer who has the capacity to do the amazing but he is far, so very far, away from being a consistent footballer/ striker.

The problem is that there aren't that many strikers out there that are consistent and prolific at the top level. I genuinely struggle to think of a realistic striker target that I would want to see replace Morata in the squad this season, but should we be looking at spending money on a replacement? In 31 league appearances, same as Morata, for Swansea last season Tammy Abraham managed only five goals. I am however convinced that if those appearances would have been for Chelsea, with far superior players around him, then Abraham would have, at the very least, equalled Morata's 11 goals.

If I was Abraham I would have seen this pre-season as an opportunity to prove to the new management that I am as good, if not better, than the clubs record signing striker.

Even if he did show he was better he’d get shipped out on loan. No way he’s displacing the clubs record signing, board wouldn’t allow that.

29 Jul 2018 00:43:59
Appearances are also quite misleading. Morata did have a good goals/ minutes ratio before moving to chelsea. The question was whether he’d be able to carry that ratio into starting the majority of games. He had a tumultuous first season with us which was hampered by injury and then Contes very negative tactics. Now I’m not going to say that it he stays he’ll necessarily be the striker we were all expecting but I would expect he’d certainly improve his goal return. If he were to cut out his antics he’d do a lot better.

I would be very disappointed to see Willian, go to United. Makes us look like a feeder club. What we've had in return is knackered Falcao and abysmal Veron. Willian surely our most skilful attacking player after Hazard, If he does not feature in Sarri's plans, or there is some fantastic upgrade about to arrive (who? ), then surely we should have sold to Barcelona. as some have already said.

Falcao came from Monaco. That was all our own doing.

Ed018, can you confirm the players who could be on the move out of Chelsea

Pedro bakayoko hazard tho willian morata batsuayi Giroud Cahill zouma and if any others.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I can’t confirm, but from that list I’d guess Zouma, maybe Cahill, and maybe either Giroud or Bats.}

28 Jul 2018 17:09:53
If Zouma leaves it has to be a loan. He's way too talented to give up on already.

Vechino of inter would be a squad player, good tidy passer and good engine, presses and tries to win ball back, his a Sarri type but not getting ahead of Jorginho Kante Cesc, so would probably for €35m push Bakyoko and drinkwater back and maybe RLC and Barkley depending on how highly Sarri rates him, need goals from middle imo.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jul 2018 12:55:02
I'd imagine Vechino would almost certainly see Drinkwater leave the club, which seems inevitable no matter what happens, and probably see Bakayoko head off too.

Kante, Jorginho, Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek, Barkley and Vechino is a decent looking midfield, especially with Amapdou around the squad too.

Some unhappy fans that we've only made one big signing.

Just pretend that we've paid £60m for Loftus-Cheek and £40m for Hudson-Odoi. Better yet pretend they're from Brazil instead of Lewisham and Wandsworth. That should do it.

Jorginho, Batshuayi, Zouma, RLC and Hudson Odoi potentially all added to the squad for the upcoming season. Not too bad when you think of it this way.
