I have a feeling that the philosophy of 'not keeping unhappy player', chelsea would end up negotiating Costa's wanting out from a defensive position. Why should Chelsea sell players just because they want to leave? Worse still is selling at a rumoured price far less than players of inferior quality. More appalling is the fact that the club seems helpless while A. Madrid scheme his exit. Europe is replete with players made to honour contracts they willingly acceded to till the club chose to sell;DE Gea, Liverpool Suarez, Napoli Cavani and now Koulibaly.



I think the club has to put it's foot down as deterrent, if such players do otherwise it should be at the expense of his career. No one calls DE Laurentis a difficult owner for nothing. The club needs Costa, it very difficult getting players of his quality for less than €80m.

I still hold to that shred of hope that it's all rumour.

Will be nonsense. I would expect Chelsea to make a formal complaint about tapping up, because AM have done exactly that.

If he wants to go let him there's plenty players out there half the people on here last season was having ago at him for his tantrums and at end of the day we will not stand in anyone's way if they want to leave keep it that why in my opinion.

Is there any truth to the notion that the money spent on Torres and the poor return on that investment has deterred the club from ever spending such a sum on a player again?

If not, any ideas on what is contributing to the club targeting players in the £0-40m bracket?

I know Ed002 has said that the club offered a considerable amount for Pogba which came to nothing.

With our two main targets from last year both going to both Manc clubs for high fees, it has got me thinking, will we ever see the club spend such an amount on a player again under the current ownership or is it just our rank on the food chain of football? .

I am fine with that club the way it is but with the market becoming more inflated by the second, will we be limiting ourselves in the level of player we are able to attract if we persist the way we are. The players' everyone would like are becoming more and more expensive and are commanding higher fees. Feedback would be appreciated.

I hear what your saying but it's about buying the right player, not just every good player out there. I think it's time we started seeing a lot more of our younger players like RLC, Aina and chalobah. Let's give them a chance to see if they can cut it at the top. I think this year could be a very good year for the club especially with no European football, giving the squad a whole week to work on the next opposition. At the end of the day we all want griezman/ pogba etc but what makes me more prouder is when one of our own takes to the field and is given a chance.

Not at all. We have made a larger bid for Griezmann in the last two windows, both times he was not for sale. Right player means we will pay the fees.

Would be a shame if costa goes . He'll take some replacing I think given the market at the moment. Not sure we will be able to get striker in this season of Costas calibre. If the deal involves greizman, then that would be ok but that looks highly unlikely. I know we've got some good youngsters but the pressure on chels this year to perform is greater than ever so blooding youth will be very difficult. We need top drawer players in every position to ensure we return to the top. I think batshuayi remy traore leaves us light up top. I wouldn't swap diego for lukaku. Would anyone else?

First off it says thanks for all my friends he is saying he is happy having his friends! Costa is Brazilian and I am half my self and I'm here in Brazil at the Olympics at the moment and all brazilians love being around their family and friends! Yes he may leave but he just played all three games Exocet yesterday so he deserves a rest and two no way will we give Costa away without having atleast Lukaku or Morata in return or as you said Greizman!

We played really well yesterday and Conte is no idiot Costa can score 20 again in our new formation and yes he wants to return to Atleti it's all over the papers here also but he won't leave without having a big shot coming in! He could leave in Janaury it says in papers in Brasil but unless we get a big player he is off limits till January or one more year! He rested last night the brazilian announcers said during the game in portugeses and no one mentioned him leaving back to Atleti the whole game.

{Ed001's Note - Moses is awful, his first touch is terrible, which is the hardest thing to fix, so if they don't have it, you may as well forgot them.
Sorry to pinch your comment ed 001 but everytime I see a comment on here about Lukaku this is what I think too. He is not, and never will be world class and why people on here rate him I will never understand.

{Ed001's Note - I agree completely. He controls the ball further than most players can kick it. He is a faster, stronger, more clinical version of Loic Remy. Not good enough for Chelsea.}
