Under 18's through to FA Youth Cup QF after beating Swansea 6-0. Tammy Abraham scored a hat-trick playing wide of Dom Solanke who scored 2. This boy doesn't stop scoring goals and has been at academy since 8 years old.

Ed is Kompany suspended for the weekend?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I don't think so. I couldn't find anything saying that he was. Maybe somebody else can help out with this}

28 Jan 2015 22:41:15
Cheers ed I've just heard a couple of people saying it that's all

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I read earlier were someone had said that as well, but I haven't seen anything legit yet}

He was suspended for one game, which was against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.

This is a good site for checking domestic suspensions, http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/suspensions.

Agree0 Disagree0

But IIRC he played in the FA Cup against Boro?

Robert pires mentioned on ssn that he thinks that Ivanovic is the best defender in Europe. It is abit of an overstatement but as much as he's been inconsistent he is a great defender. He is quicker than most think except he gets caught too far upfield at RB and I stand by what I've said for a while is that he would be a quality CB next to Terry. Quicker than Cahill, far less error prone in the centre and he wouldn't be running up the wing. Zouma looked good the other night but playing him with Cahill with cahill in bad form and Zouma still being young was always going to be a problem even against Bradford. I like Zouma and he should rotate with Terry for rest periods but I'd play him with Ivanovic not Cahill. Ivanovic is by far one of the best one one one defenders out there.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Exactly! I think it was MN that thinks he's the best as well. He's qaulity

I agree ivanovic is a wonderful defender when goalside of the attacker. His struggles generally are tied to him being asked to be an outlet in the final third and if we give the ball away he doesn't quite have the recovery speed to run down your fast wingers. This is why I agree he would be a really good centerhalf as he will very rarely find himself chasing the play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ivanovic is RB only because JM wants him to be. Probably JM has his reasons. I would also play Ivanovic next to Terry.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys did you get a chance to see big guy's blooded shoe? The one that Mourinho is planing to present to academy players!
Big guy is playing injured for some time and some people on this page are speaking about his inconsistency??!!
About what kind of consistency we can talk when it comes to other players like Terry, Cahill,
Luis, Willian, D.Costa,or even some people's beloved Eden Hazard.
THIS CHELSEA SQUAD HAS SHOWN SOME FANTASTIC FOOTBALL CURRENT SEASON (THEY HAD SLIPPED FEW TIMES) YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THOSE GUYS ARE PLAYING IN THE BEST AND THE MOST DIFFICULT LEAGUE IN THE WORLD!! SO PLEASE SHOW SOME RESPECT!!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2015 18:12:29
Well I Didn't understand a word of that

Agree0 Disagree0

Who's big guy? 90% of that makes zero sense

Are you serious?

Costa got away

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - from who or what}

28 Jan 2015 17:42:44
With costa going to be banned against City, Filipe Luis and Fabregas could both be injured. We could have big problems. Not to mention Salah and Schurrle could both be off so they probably won't even be on the bench. I hope a miracle happens and we get Cuadrado before Saturday, This would be my XI:

Courtois

Ivanovic Zouma Terry Azpilicueta

Ramires Matic

Willian Oscar Hazard

Remy

Subs:

Cech, Cahill, Filipe Luis (?), Ake, Fabregas (?), Salah/Schurrle (?), Drogba

I'm really hoping we could get at least Fabregas fit since he never played over 50 odd minutes to give Oscar a rest because he's played a lot this week. If Fabregas is injured, Salah and Schurrle not in squad it looks like youth will be on the bench. Mikel is another option albeit not very exciting so I'd like to see Loftus-Cheek if in desperate need.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mourinho will start with Drogba more likely but I am still hoping that D.Costa might not be banned.

Agree0 Disagree0

Costa will be banned, it looks like the FA aren't going to wait to resolve the situation.
I also sincerely hope Mourinho starts with Remy, because when Drogba plays our pressing becomes a lot less potent. We need some mobility up front IMO. Drogba can still bully people, but he's not going to bully Kompany and Mangala.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not being funny but Chelsea don't get away with anything regarding the players or Jose! Bias or not I don't care we get punished for everything especially Jose

Agree0 Disagree0

It is campaign against Chelsea! So obvious!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kompany I think is banned due to picking up 5 yellow cards!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 20:10:58
It may be quite tempting also to play drogba and Remy in a 4-4-2 Saturday

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 17:30:18
Diego Costa will face retrospective action. We might have to play City without him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we choose to appeal the decision is the ban not postponed until after the weekend? meaning he could still play vs city

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - any appeal will be dealt with before Saturday}

28 Jan 2015 12:12:42
I'd like to give a big shout out for Willian on his performance last night (I know he has his critics on here) - his work-rate was phenomenal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Him and Costa were still running around like madmen durnig the second period of extra time, it was phenomenal. Hope it didn't tire them out all too much for Saturday, their energy will be needed!

Hey guys lfc fan here
Congratulations on the win. I felt neither side deserved to win the tie overall, as Liverpool weren't clinical enough and Chelsea attacking only in the second half. Nice to see we can go toe to toe with the table toppers!
Good luck for the rest lf the year lads
P.S It will be different next time!

How can Sky allow such biased commentary? Why has Niall Quinn got such a downer on us? How did he make Courtois MoM? From what I remember, Courtois made 1 great save in the 1st half and after half-time the only shot on target was a Gerrard shot from distance straight at him! The usual 'we all love Liverpool and hate Chelsea' from the media. Disgraceful.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2015 10:07:31
I didn't watch it on Sky so I didn't hear what Niall Quinn had to say, but I was a bit surprised this morning when I read that Courtois was MoM.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree, also remember Niall Quinn using the term 'parking the bus' when referring to us last night, which I felt was quite unprofessional. Hazard MOTM for me without a doubt, Mignolet was just as good as Courtois.

Agree0 Disagree0

Quinn was extremely biased in the first leg too. The majority of pundits and experts are, especially on ssn where they're mostly ex pool players.

hey i'm a lfc supporter just got to say u guys were leaps and bounds over us, don't care what anyone says.

I am also a football supporter and that hazard is something else, everytime he was on the ball he was amazing and I was terrified.

Gotta ask what u lot think of costa, for me I think he's brilliant and the kinda player I would want on my team. a grub of a person but gives it all. aka suarez

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers mate, both teams gave us a great game yesterday. Truly a delight to watch.
Costa on the pitch seems to be a whole different guy to Costa off the pitch though. So as a person I'd say that he looks to me a great guy.
On the pitch however is a different story. He will do any- and everything in his power to get the win and to get under the opponents' skin. I don't know if the stamps were intentional or not, but if they were then I hope he can cut that out. That being said he's probably the best striker for us. His spirit and fight can lift the team, not the mention the fact that he's also a striker of the highest quality. It hasn't taken long, I already love him!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair play mate .
agree with u . costa is brilliant but a player that I think will lose his head and let us down one day. He needs chill slightly. I love his aggression and will to win but he goes over board sometimes. Could of easy got.sent off yesterday and cost us the game.

Liverpool to were brilliant both games . only courtios in mind option kept us in the tie.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard - the closest thing there's been to George Best (in movement - not yet goals unfortunately).

It was a terrific match to watch, both teams were really going for it. Hazard's close control is phenomenal. I can't wait to see him running around Wembley.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool have been much better recently, for your sake I hope Pool can pick it up

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 15:29:51
Agree with others. His intensity and work rate is absolutely incredible but there's times where it goes too far. In these instances not only does he put the team in jeopardy but he develops a reputation and refs remember those things. Players are aware of this and will try and elicit a reaction but also make a meal out of every little thing he does.

ZOUMA start every game for me now come of age for me can only get better love the way costa plays my kind of centre forward, get stuck in there lol. Courtois pure class showed his worth all round good result. Only thing was the extra time hope it doesn't have an effect saturday few days recovery needed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Zouma was fantastic today. But I have to point out that he still a little slow and his forward pass sometimes thrive my nerves. Btw, he still have to amazing support from Terry.

William work rate is unbelievable. He looks like a running machine. Covered lots of space and interrupt many Liv pass.

Costa, I had to say to totally love him. A true warrior. Best striker after Drogba. Another elephant in aggressive style.

Hazard, Oscar is amazing today, make Liv's defenders had to commit faults all the time. And Matic is on the way to refind his form.

The only drawback is Ramires - never look before passing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Costa needs to cut the stamping out. I love the fact he's a warrior but that is taking it too far. Reflects poorly on the team and could cause serious injury.

Not the way we want to win.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only Diego will know if the stamp on Can was deliberate (the one on Skietal sp. was accidental).
