Guys, remember last deadline day, everyone was on here saying we had signed Ben Arfa. Nothing came of it, nothing will come from falcao either, just someone putting 2 and 2 together and getting 4.1

Jm10

Im getting 4.2

Guillem Balague has confirmed that chelsea aren't in talks with A.Madrid about Falcao.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

To be fair he's not that much in the know! But when the Eds confirm or not I will listen {Ed001's Note - he can be in the know, it depends on what it is, just like anyone really. He is very close friends with Rafa Benitez, so he built his rep on being very ITK about Liverpool, while Rafa was in charge. Basically, Rafa used him as a mouthpiece. Now, he is friendly with a few players, mostly Barca-based ones, who will feed him a bit of info. I am not sure how much knowledge he would have about Atletico though!}

I'm going to be honest and say I don't want us to sign another striker, but my word if we signed Falcao...That would be insane.

PR!

Believable5 Unbelievable2

If that would be insane, why dont you want it?

Agree3 Disagree1

If Torres get's injured we're ****ed.

Agree3 Disagree1

Because yes he would be insane as a player, must we don't need him...

I think people forget that Sturridge was our leading goal scorer in the league last year...Give a young Englishman a chance.

One last big push will be made for a big name striker now sturridge appears to have offers. RDM prefers the current squad with sturridge 2nd choice and piazon 3rd choice forward with Moses being seen more as a wide midfielder. As far as other positions are concerned the most likely exit would be Raul meireles with Napoli looking to reignite their interest before the end of the window due to sending gargano to inter for a season, leaving them a bit light in midfield. As well as interest from turkey who hope an attractive financial package could tempt the player.

In all honestly I would not be surprised if there was no more activity in the transfer window from Chelsea but Abramovich is not known for having quiet deadline days.

Personally I would rather RDM has more of a say in transfers as apart from Moses it does not look like he has had much of an input to any of them this season.

Man, the constant "Cavani or Hulk" questions are getting annoying lads... use the little wheel on your mouse to scroll down the page a little and all will be revealed by they multitude of questions that have gone before!

On another note... Paying 30-50mil for a new striker will only upset Torres again, who is just finding his form. Keep Sturridge as Torres back up and bring in a young player with promise is what i would do. Sturridge showed at Bolton he can be a main striker, he is english so helps with the HG rule and he is also very capable. I dont see the need to "do a city" and overpay for someone, again.

28 Aug 2012 18:50:15
is it just me or does anybody else not want either Cavani or Hulk ? personally i think the amount of money in todays game ruins it and seeing as we have already spent 70m i dont see why we should go for either of them as a back up. we already have sturridge as 2nd choice so why not just have someone from the reserves or youth team give them a chance aye ? would love to get some feed back thanks guys and gals :)

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I don't want cavani

Agree5 Disagree4

Yeah you've got a point what if Torres is injured we can't depend on Sturridge the reserves no way no experience. carPetman

Agree1 Disagree3

I dont understand how you could want hulk over cavani.
Hulk is selfish, one footed and lazy; he is definitely NOT the player we need or even should want. He also plays in a very average league.
Cavani is a great finisher, has great stamina and also helps out in defence and Serie A is a well respected and difficult league.
It's really a no brainer, sign cavani!

Agree8 Disagree1

We're going to need another striker at some point in the future, so buying one now makes sense, we've just seen with torres, that a new striker needs time to settle. Hulk for sure isn't the right man, i'd like to see cavani or jovetic come in, someone made a good point earlier about how jovetic would be the best signing, because, he is young and would not be expecting a starting role straight away, unlike cavani

Trueblue012

Agree2 Disagree2

Agree with the original post.

cali

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive even got a chant for cavani:

cavani
woaoh
cavani
woaooohh
he comes from uruguay
he makes defenders cry

(repeat)

Agree3 Disagree3

Falcao all day long. i dont want cavani either. he will fail. BLUEBOY1

Agree1 Disagree2

How will cavani fail?

he's the white drogba

he's the messiah

Agree2 Disagree2

Cavani will fail because he is as you said the white drogba....and we aren't playing drogba-style no more.....our current style of play is extremely suited for falcao but i don't think he wants to move.....hulk is gonna fail because face it he never performs in big games, he is suited for smaller leagues only....so i'd rather we go for a lesser value striker either someone who's a consistent scorer in the premier league or someone up and coming...
we don't need to spend another 40-50m on a big name

Agree0 Disagree1

If you put drogba of 2006-7 into the current line-up he would score goals for fun.

that is what cavani is and he also has that pace and flair that you need for the modern game.

Napoli's football isnt entirely direct and he thrives in that so stop making comments when you don't know the background material.

I am not sure if the rumors about us looking at signing Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa are true, but personally i think we could do a lot worse than bringing him in.
He is a young (23) versatile defender who lead Montpellier to a very unlikely Ligue 1 title. He is predominantly a center back, but can play anywhere across the line, which for me is key.
I would not be surprised to see Ivanovic leave this season, he does not want to play RB primarily, and with new acquisition Azpilicueta coming in i see him dropping down the pecking order to 2nd choice RB and 4th choice CB.
Terry may see a long ban in the prem, which would limit our options at CB. He is also now 31, and with back issues i cannot see him playing as many games in the coming seasons.
And finally the LB position is in flux, Cole is brilliant but at 31 he surely cannot be expected to play as much as he did last year. Bertrand is getting better and better imo, but that has been further up the field, so i am sure RDM would appreciate another option at LB in case of emergency.

For me, if he could be brought in fairly cheaply he could prove to be a prudent acquisition, both short term and long.

wot would happen if roman pulled out of chelsea! just reading he in a 3billion court case

Believable1 Unbelievable1

It's fine he's not going too lol

Agree1 Disagree1

Chillax. carPetman

Agree0 Disagree0

He's unlikely to lose the case also as it is basically his word against the other guys. Very little evidence is available, don't worry our owner is a smart man who tidies up his mess. I doubt he would leave Chelsea in a mess also as it wouldn't do his reputation any good.

The squad to me now is complete no need to add.If there are to many games for Torres to play on his own and Sturridge can't fill in props.or Moses for that fact we can also sign another Striker in January.

I would actually be looking to sell some players now like Benayoun,Ferreira,Malouda and Kakauta.Maybe Hilario or Turnbull aswell and try and bring Jamal Blackman through the ranks a bit.

P.S really think Courtois and Blackman will fight it out in the future for a starting place maybe Courtois the league and Blackman the cup's..and in the champions league you can pick the one who will be best against the opposition on the day

are chelsea really in the market to buy a new striker? isn't this just a way for you to keep all these transfer crazed chelsea fans using your site before it becomes derelict from September 1st?!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

It doesnt become derelict we all still talk about football!
We must buy a new striker sturridge aint up to it just yet,
If torres broke a leg we would be ruined! Cant actually beleve im now saying that but its true

I really doubt we well sign Falcao, if he were to join he would take nandos place, or we would have to play nando and Falcao together we isnt gonna happen after all the summer additions.

cech/turnbull

Azpil/Ferreira.**Cahill/Iva.*Terry/Luiz**Cole/Bertrand

Ramires/Mikel**Lampard/Essien

Hulk/Moses**Mata/Oscar**Hazard/Marin

Torres/Sturridge

-I think this is the vision Abramovich is after.

-Note:Hulk*Moses can both play as CF's,and also Iva. is more likely to fill in at RB then Ferreira

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Good post, believe this would be a titel challenging team. Would prefer hulk over Cavani. If come January we're not up to it then we can look at off loading sturridge for a CF. Don't want to be a city trying to have a £100m sat warming the bench.

28 Aug 2012 16:48:29
Let's be honest,it's going to take another £40-£50m bid to get hulk, cavani or falcao whether they are worth it or not.
I cannot see us bringing in anyone because of the value of our targets. I don't see a top four finish as some sort of failure. With the young, exciting players we have purchased and a bit of luck, there's no reason why we won't mount a serious challenge for the league this year. If one other player comes in then great, if not then we go on as we are. 3 wins out of 3, exciting football for the majority of the games we have played so far. Long may it continue. On the transfer side again I think it may be hard to do business on the last day as we have a huge game v athletico.

Roman Abramovich will find out this week whether he'll have to pay up to £3billion in damages to a former business partner.

Court officials have said the Chelsea owner will discover whether he has won a multibillion-pound legal battle with fellow Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky.

Mr Berezovsky, 66, claimed that Mr Abramovich, 45, had "intimidated" him into selling shares in a Russian oil company at a fraction of their value, during a High Court trial which started in London in October 2011 and ended in January 2012.

He also claimed that Mr Abramovich had broken a promise made during a deal relating to an aluminium company.

Mr Berezovsky alleged blackmail, breach of trust and breach of contract and claimed more than £3 billion damages.

Mr Abramovich denied the allegations and denied that Mr Berezovsky was entitled to damages.

Judicial Office officials said today that High Court judge Mrs Justice Gloster would deliver a ruling in London on Friday.

He said the judge's full judgment would be published on a date to be fixed.

will this affect Chelsea's spending in the future

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see Cavani at the Bridge next season however Falcao is undoubtably the more intelligent player in terms of his hold up play and movement. This is significant to how successful he would be in our team next season as we are looking to play with more fluidity and an increased tempo getting nearer the six yard box. He has also played (and been successful with) a similar system and philosophy at At Madrid last year. Neither did he show any signs of the pressures of a big price tag. Cavani on the other hand would have been better with the style of play we utilised last year; as a target man looking to hit opposition on the counter attack with a direct style of play.

Best ever post from a professional scout about Falcao and Cavani earlier this summer.

Good laugh on the Loserfool page; someone posted
Liverpool to sign Falcao for 24 million.
And the funniest bit? It got 9 believables!
Those fans are deluded aren't they?
CFCFOREVER!
P.S. Ideal Deadline Day
In:
Falcao
Tiote

Out:
Benayoun
Malouda
Kakuta (loan)

Love to hear others views though! {Ed018's Note - we all know Falcao is not moving at that price, and if he was to move it'd be to a Champions League team}

Believable6 Unbelievable2

LOL thats one of there best so far i dont think anyone will get falcao for less than 40 mill

like ed018 said he would want champions league football and what better club to join than the current european champions

curt

Agree5 Disagree0

The believable has now gone up to 23 and unbelievable has only 19. I really don't understand how someone can be this delusional. Atletico bought him for £35mil last year. Its not like they are gunna sell him for less than that.

I don't get this Loserfool that u guys keep calling liverpool, Liverpool is one of the most historical clubs in world football and they won trophys without spending millions from some mafia guy like Abramovich, look at liverpools trophy cabinet and then look at Chelsea's and u will will see who the loser is.

Now we'll look at the trophy cabinets from the premier league era, from the age when to be successful and win trophies, money HAS to be spent, and see who is successful NOW, which is what matters, not what happened in the 70's.

The players that I'd be happy if we brought in before the transfer window closes:

Falcao

Fernando Reges

Ed018, your opinion on Dembele and should we have gone for him ?He can play anywhere in the midfield and will be a good replacement for Lamps.
roan {Ed018's Note - He's a good player to me he seems to be more of an attacking mid, which we have plenty of. I know he can play deeper. I'd rather see Frankie finish out this year and then Josh M. start getting his chances in that spot}

No. Thats a little extreme. We won't have any numbers left otherwise! Lamps, Terry, Cech and Cole would deserve the same treatment!

curt

Agree0 Disagree2

Marradona and maldini also had their numbers retired for napoli and milan

Trueblue012

Agree1 Disagree0

Actually we retired zola's number unofficially...

think about it who's had the number 25 since him?

Agree1 Disagree0

The number 25 has not been used by Chelsea since Zolas exit, not officially retired but the club my be reluctant to hand it out again.
Would not be surprised if the number 26 is not used for a while once JT leaves.

Numbers like this are easier to retire because there is rarely demand for them, numbers 1-11 are virtually impossible to retire.

And you never know, Oscar could be an even bigger legend for the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

No players number will ever be retired for any reason exept mabey death
For what ever reason it was would have to be done everytime it happened in 100 years they would be running round with 3 numbers on there shirts

Should of been retired when Dennis wise left then! BLUEBOY1
