I can see your support for Mourinho has really impaired your assessment here. Mourinho is mainly to be blamed even though the board also has a share.
It's a wrong impression that the manager is not supported in the transfer market. The first problem with MU this season is not the quality of the players but getting them to play to their strength. Mourinho's ego and "everyone else is to be blamed except me" approach have interfered with the cohesion and unity of purpose. One problem with Mourinho is inability to change his style to suit players available to him rather insist on a style that players are not good at. Check the spine of the team and you will that they are better than where they're.
Again no matter what their revenue is, the board won't be spending for the sake of it. Mourinho's bought many players that have not been used nor performed. Fred, Sanchez, etc. No club will always assess such performance and be convinced that you driving the club in the right direction before backing you with others.
The board would want to see certain quality players show their potential like Martial, Rashford, etc Mr. Mourinho wants others. Just wait until he does another KDB, Salah, with some potential world class.
The board is culpable in their decision to still keep him. No all good coaches are suited to the style and culture of certain clubs and so should have let him go. Spending for Mourinho is at best for the short term as he start the problem at most after 2 season. In sure that is not best proactive approach the initial poster would expect. Its because the board seldomly talk the press as the manager.
